Bonnie Fuller, Charlotte Ronson, Leandra Medine and Elana Drell-Szyfer were the four lucky women honored by the UJA-Federation of New York’s Professional Women’s Philanthropy on May 7. They were honored at Women of Influence: The Event, and were chosen for their professional and philanthropic accomplishments, as well as for being role models for future generations of professional women. HollywoodLife.com was lucky enough to interview all four honorees at the event, and they revealed the key to building a successful career.

Bonnie Fuller’s Career Advice To Women

Bonnie changed the face of women’s magazines and shaped celebrity culture during her illustrious career. She was the launch editor of Marie Claire; she became editor of Cosmopolitan, where she raised newsstand sales 18 percent in her first year; and as editor-in-chief of Glamour, she lead the magazine to its highest-ever circulation and revenue levels.

At the UJA Event at Manhattan’s JW Marriott Essex House, Bonnie spoke about being honored by the UJA Federation:

The UJA Federation is a great organization for strong women. Strong women make up the organization and they want to honor other strong women. I hope we can inspire all the HollywoodLifers out there.

Bonnie firmly believes that determination and hard work is the key to career success:

Think big. You have to aim high and go for your dreams. If there is something you want to do, then you have to try. You can’t talk yourself into ‘well I probably won’t make it so instead I’ll do something else.’ Don’t give up on your dreams; try and find a foot in the door position, something where you can get experience.

Charlotte Ronson, Leandra Medine & Elana Szyfer Honored By The UJA Federation Of NYC

The UJA — an organization that aims to help people and inspire a passion for Jewish life and learning, as well as strengthen Jewish communities around the world — also chose three other honorees.

Elana, chief executive officer of AHAVA North America and deputy chief executive officer of AHAVA Dead Sea Laboratories; Leandra, author and founder of fashion blog The Man Repeller; and fashion designer Charlotte also spoke to HollywoodLife.com about being chosen for the event, which was moderated by advertising executive and television personality Donny Deutsch, and emceed by Good Morning America‘s Bianna Golodryga.

Charlotte said it was a “great grouping of women,” while Leandra said she was “proud to give back to the Jewish community.”

Elana added that it was “a pleasure to be recognized by such a prestigious organization.”

The event’s proceeds will go to UJA-Federation of New York’s annual campaign, which helps sustain a network of nearly 100 health and human-service agencies in New York, Israel and around the world.

Charlotte Ronson never disappoints when it comes to being creative, funky and chic all at the same time on the runway. And the Spring 2013 show stayed true to her bubbly sense of fashion that is always perfectly fitting for Young Hollywood A-listers.

Black, blue and white color-blocked frocks and crop tops graced the runway at Charlotte’s show during New York Fashion Week. From sheer pink-neon jackets to leather skirts, Charlotte’s collection gave off a whimsical and funky vibe. The collection captured the latest trends — like crop tops — but added a hint of retro flare.

The bright colors, mixed textures and curve-hugging get-ups would be perfect for blonde bombshell Ashley Benson who is gearing up to promote her latest film, Spring Breakers. Ashley’s sense of style is definitely funky and chic — we hope to see her in one of these frocks on the red carpet soon!

Inspired by the upcoming Mirror Mirror film, designer Charlotte Ronson will be launching 50 limited edition t-shirts featuring the star of the Snow White fairytale, Lily Collins.

Being released on Mar. 30 (the same day as the film), the design will include a hand sketch of Lily as the classic Disney princess, complete with her beautiful swan dress and signature red pout — so cute!

“Snow White has always been one of my favorite stories growing up, and I love that this modern day Snow White is still lovely as ever and ready to be the hero in this story. She’s definitely the Charlotte Ronson girl….independent, confident and sweet,” says Ronson.

Catch the Snow White adaption when it hits theaters on March 30 — and purchase a Mirror Mirror tee (retailed at $25) before they run out!

Want to learn how to mix patterns without looking like you got dressed in the dark? Not a problem! Who better to fill you in on how to wear the most covetable trends this summer than designer Charlotte Ronson? We got to catch up with the savvy Charlotte, who’s busy juggling two lines, (there’s Charlotte Ronson and her diffusion labels, I HEART Ronson, (for JCPenney)), where she shared her style must haves, talked about the dreaded task of cleaning out her closet, and even offered up some memorable shopping moments with her mom, and twin Samantha Ronson! And, believe it or not, even talented designers have, “Why did I wear that?” moments!

What are the biggest trends this season?
“For summer, I think little miniskirts, layering, and mixing and matching prints.”

What are your staple must-haves?
“A good army jacket, a great pair of jeans, and a fun flirty black dress. You can’t go wrong!”

I’m a huge fan of mixing patterns, but for some people it can be tricky. What’s your advice for pulling off the trend?
“I think staying either in the same color range or tone, or one bold and one ditzy is always nice. Or working with all kind of little, minimal, soft prints is easier.”

What’s one trend you regret following?
“I’m trying to think, baby-doll dresses were probably not the most flattering, if you weren’t pregnant! I mean I’m sure I’ve done a lot worse, but that’s the first thing I remember seeing pictures of myself, and being like, ‘Why did I wear that?’”

Do you have a cherished item in your closet you could never part with?
“There’s a lot! I’m trying to go through my closet, and there’s still just so much in there. I don’t like to get rid of anything, because you never know, you might want to wear it. It’s hard too as a designer, you want to keep all your pieces, but then you would need an extra apartment just for all your stuff! I mean there’s just so many things that I keep that I probably shouldn’t. There’s favorite sweatshirts and the perfect t-shirts that are practically falling apart because they have just been worn with love, you know?”

Any memorable shopping moments?
“It [shopping] was always something fun. If I was being good I could go out with my mother, and also being a twin, you know shopping with your twin…well, I don’t know if those are such fond memories! But it [shopping] was always a bonding experience with my mother. Being younger, I would want to help and if I picked out something and she liked it it was such a big deal if she picked out what I had chosen for her! If I was good I would always get something, but my mother was always like, ‘Do you love it?’ and I was always such an indecisive person and would end up with nothing because I didn’t know if I ever really loved a piece or not!”

Since having daughter Alabama Gypsy Rose, Drea and Shooter have learned the key to raising children…and they want to share it with YOU!

Everyone knows parenting is no easy feat — that is, unless you’re Drea de Matteo and Shooter Jennings. The Desperate Housewives actress and country music star told HollywoodLife.com how two-year-old daughter Alabama Gypsy Rose makes their life as easy as pie!

What’s the couple’s secret? “Have an awesome child and you’re set!” Drea, 38, gushed to us at Charlotte Ronson and JC Penny’s Spring Cocktail Jam at Milk Studios in Los Angeles May 4.

Shooter, 30, nodded his head enthusiastically, while his fiancé explained their one house rule. “The only thing we try to teach that baby is to be nice and love everybody, except for the evil people,” she
said.

Sounds like an excellent policy to us!

Mischa Barton hasn’t done herself any favors lately with her messy dresses and sloppy beauty routines, but after hanging out with her May 4 in LA, I’m convinced she’s about to make a clean comeback!

We have come to expect the unexpected when it comes to Mischa Barton, and last night she didn’t disappoint. Although the 24-year-old actress has been a hot mess lately, she was on her best behavior and looking good last night at the Charlotte Ronson & JC Penney party in LA!

I caught up with Mischa at the May 4 event at Milk Studios in line for In & Out Burger. She wasn’t drinking, wasn’t stumbling over her words, didn’t have lipstick on her teeth — and was really genuine and sweet (and yes, cute). We immediately struck up a conversation as if we had been BFFs forever (though I’m not going to lie, I was a little shy at first — I was expecting a hot mess and got an adorable girl instead, so it took a few minutes to compute).

Visions of her look in the days of the O.C. started creeping in my mind more and more rather then her recent wardrobe disasters and personal issues. She even was concerned about my well-being (imagine!) saying, “Are you having fun tonight yet?”

During our 10-minute conversation, I learned that she took forever to pick out her outfit like any other girl, eats like a normal person (she loves hamburgers as much as I do) and she’s thoughtful — she picked up food for a pal, too. We parted ways with a hug.

Consider my eyes officially opened. Mischa seems to actually be improving. She was sober, happy and in good spirits. And THAT is the Mischa Barton I know and love! So please, peeps, it’s time to give her a break!

G&R guitarist Slash tells us that he’d love to see the band’s songs appear on Fox’s smash hit show, but lead singer Axl Rose won’t let it happen!

Who wouldn’t love a Guns & Roses-themed episode of Glee? We’d die to see Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) take Rachel Barry (Lea Michele) to “Paradise City” and for Noah “Puck” Puckerman (Mark Salling) to trade in his Mohawk for a mullet. But sadly, BFFs, a G&R episode of Glee probably won’t happen. (Insert frown face here).

“I’d be shocked if it ever came to be, because Axl might not be down with it,” the 44-year-old rocker told HollywoodLife.com at Charlotte Ronson’s ‘I Love Ronson’/JC Penney party in LA May 4.

WHAT! Lead singer Axl Rose should stop being so selfish — the world NEEDS a G&R-Glee union.

Slash, however, is totally on board with seeing his music appear on the show, and even has some thoughts as to what songs should be performed. “I would love to see “Paradise City” or “November Rain” used on a future episode,” he told us, adding, “but if it ever came to be, I think they would probably pick “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” That seems to be the go-to [song].”

Slash, surely you can use your powers of persuasion on Axl, 48? Or should we say, “Use Your Illusion?”
