Charlotte Arnold, Ray Ablack & Samantha Munro Talk Graduation & Saying Goodbye To 'Degrassi'

The ‘Degrassi’ cast tells all: Find out who cried, who’s sticking around, and who’s drowning their sorrows in ‘Star Wars!’

This week doesn’t just mark the end of Degrassi: Now or Never — it also marks the graduation, and final episodes, of some of our favorite characters! HollywoodLife.com sat down with Charlotte Arnold, Raymond Ablack and Samantha Munro during a recent visit to the show’s Toronto set to get their thoughts on the big finale. I hope you’ve got some tissues handy.

“I’m really going to miss playing Anya,” Samantha says. “She cries a lot, if you haven’t noticed, and I’m going to have nowhere to cry anymore, so I’m going to have to do it at home. With sad movies.” (Star Wars, if co-star Daniel Kelly has anything to say about it.)

Ray, on the other hand, isn’t merely looking back on the past; he’s got big plans for the future. “I’m buying new clothing!” he reveals. “I’ve never really spent money on clothing, but I feel like I graduated high school for the second time in my life … and I’m ready to reinvent myself.”

And then there’s Charlotte. Along with reflecting on how far Holly J has come over the years — let us not forget the mean girl that slapped poor Darcy’s lunch out of her hand — Charlotte also says she soaked up every last minute of her time on set.

“I only cried a little bit,” she admits.

'Degrassi' Star Charlotte Arnold Previews 'Unreal' Health & Family Drama For Holly J. This Week!

Plus, Charlotte reveals why you probably shouldn’t expect to see her on Twitter anytime soon. Or ever.

Wetting her pants in public was only the beginning for Holly J. During a recent visit to Degrassi‘s Toronto set, Charlotte Arnold told me all about the “unreal” drama her character faces in season 11 — we’ll be getting our first taste of her troubles this week — and how “it makes her look at everything in a completely different way.”

“I remember reading it in the read-through and being like, ‘What? This is unreal!’” she said of Holly J’s “Now or Never” story line, which deals with both her declining health and her family life. “But I guess it makes sense.”

She also addressed the question on every Degrassi fan’s mind: Why she’s one of the only cast members not on Twitter!

“My initial aversion to Twitter was just that I didn’t … feel like it was for me,” she said. “Different strokes.”

‘Degrassi’ Recap: Fiona Chooses Girls & Anya Rejects Owen… Again!

Just as Annie Clark hinted in our interview, the April 8 episode of Degrassi brought the end of “Fadam,” as Fiona finally realized she only liked the girl-half of transgender boyfriend Adam (Jordan Todosey.) And while the announcement came as a shock to Mama Coyne (aka the classiest woman of all time), I think everyone’s a little relieved to hear Fiona’s not into guys — at least this means she won’t be kissing her brother again!

And even though Fiona’s dreams were full of “Folly J” action, she decided not to act on her impulses with Holly J (Charlotte Arnold) — not yet, at least. Maybe Fiona isn’t as attracted to girls on dialysis as she thought she did.

Meanwhile in Degrassi-land, Alli (Melinda Shankar) continued her mission to tutor the school’s less-scholarly types in the hopes of getting in good with the teachers. Bianca (Alicia Josipovic) was thrilled at the prospect of getting a school dance as a reward, but was none too pleased to see Alli getting close with Drew (Luke Bilyk) again. Is the Queen of the Boiler Room worried about losing her King?

And then there’s Anya (Samantha Munro), who can’t seem to do anything right with guys lately. She got Owen (Daniel Kelly) a second chance in CRP class after his big emotional apology last week, only to be greeted with a super-awkward bear hug from him at The Dot. In typical Anya fashion, it didn’t take long for her to put the jerky jock in his place.

Am I the only one thinks she needs to get back with Sav (Raymond Ablack?) Her dating history since breaking up with him — if you can count boner-fiend Wesley, the ever-statutory Dr. Chris, and now bear-hugger Owen as “dating” — has been a disaster. Besides, Holly J. admitted to being more in love with Declan (Landon Liboiron) than she is with Sav.

…So what’s the problem here?

Champagne-chugging, brother-kissing, sexuality-swapping Fiona (Annie J. Clark) is always full of surprises — but no one was more surprised than Holly J. (Charlotte Arnold) when Fiona kissed her at the end of last week’s Degrassi. On tonight’s episode, Annie tells HollywoodLife.com, we’ll see a whole lot of awkwardness between the two friends. Oh, and she also has some not-so-good news for fans of Fiona and Adam’s (Jordan Todosey) relationship.

“We’ll see in [tonight's] episode that Fiona meant that kiss to be more than just a friendly gesture,” Annie teases. “And Holly J. is not going to feel the same way.”

Fiona’s views on substance abuse and the opposite sex have done a total 180 since she debuted on Degrassi last fall. But Annie says she’s proud of how much Fiona has revealed about herself — especially when it comes to her relationship with the show’s female-to-male transgender character, Adam.

“I wasn’t really sure how people were going to react that, because we don’t see it as much,” Annie admits. “But people are loving ‘Fadam.’ I get tweets all the time being like, ‘Fadam needs to work,’ and even ‘Annie and Jordy Todosey need to date in real life!’ I was like, ‘Well, I don’t know about that.’

Now, here’s that bad news I mentioned earlier…

“The fans love ‘Fadam,’ so I hope they don’t get crushed during the episodes coming up,” Annie says. “Fiona realizes she’s into girls.”

But before you go crying into your pillow — presumably one with Drake‘s face on it — I do have a gift for ‘Fadam’ fans. Here’s a first-look clip of one of the couple’s nicer moments from tonight’s episode.
