Dr. Drew says the ‘Celebrity Rehab’ patient ‘succumb[ed] to his illness.’

Former Alice in Chains bassist Mike Starr was found dead in Utah on March 8, TMZ reports.

The 44-year-old attempted to get clean in 2009 on Celebrity Rehab, but was arrested in February for possession of prescription pills.

Mike was reportedly kicked out of the seminal grunge band in 1993 because of his substance abuse. Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney released a statement about Mike’s death on March 8, saying, “Jerry and Sean are mourning the loss of their friend and ask that the media respect their privacy — and the privacy of Mike’s family — during this difficult time. Their thoughts & prayers are with the Starr family.”

Celebrity Rehab personality Dr. Drew Pinsky took to Twitter to say, “Devastating to hear of Mike Starr succumbing to his illness. So very sad. Our prayers are with his family.”

Mike’s father tells TMZ, “It’s a terrible shock and tragedy.”

Sherry Gaba has plenty of hands-on experience analyzing superstar psyche as the resident life coach on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew. When she sees young stars struggling with the demons of addiction and outside pressure, Sherry can only urge them to find the professional help they so desperately need.

With the frantic pacing of fame, Sherry says it is no surprise that stars such as Demi Lovato, 18, turn to outlets such as harming themselves to stay grounded. Self-mutilation is especially common with young people and is often triggered by trauma, abandonment, abuse or neglect. ”Cutters feel out of control in life,” Gaba says. “Something in your life is complete chaos and the only way to deal with that is to make yourself feel bad.”

Sherry goes on to say that many young celebrities become “adult children” who realize they’re the breadwinners of their family, and this role reversal can lead to dangerous behavior. ”I hate to say this, but the bottom line is if you’re supporting your family, you have a lot of pressure,” Sherry says.

Chemical dependency, which has plagued starlets such as Lindsay Lohan, 24, is optimally treated with professional help. Sherry believes “the best thing that happened to Lindsay was going to the Betty Ford Center.”

Although Lindsay has moved into an apartment next door to ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson, 33, Sherry suggests a year in a sober living facility would be a better alternative.”The longer you’re in rehab, the better the results,” Sherry says.

Brad and Angelina cover your ears. Dr. Drew is NOT holding back when it comes to his thoughts about you — he thinks your relationship is going to end in disaster! Here’s Why.

According to an explosive post Dr. Drew Pinsky wrote for the Huffington Post, superstar couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are speeding ahead into”some sort of meltdown”! “There’s no such thing as ‘I was a heroin addict,’” the “Celebrity Rehab” host says of Angelina, who has admitted to using ‘every drug possible. Coke, heroin, ecstasy, everything.’ “That doesn’t exist in nature,” Dr. Drew continues. “Something is going on with [her] addiction. Or she’s in recovery. And I don’t see any evidence that that’s the case.”

Brad and Angelina famously got together on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2003, while Brad was still married to Jennifer Aniston (the couple announced their split in January 2005).

“Because of the film, we ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened,” Angelina told Vogue in early 2006, explaining how they got together.  ”I think a few months in I realized, ‘God, I can’t wait to get to work.’ … Anything we had to do with each other, we just found a lot of joy in it together and a lot of real teamwork. We just became kind of a pair.”

Dr. Drew Pinsky, who also hosts Loveline, the VH1 shows Sex Rehab, Sober House and his upcoming HLN talk show Dr. Drew, did not mince words when analyzing the pair’s long-term relationship.

“So we’ve got one person who’s a heroin addict, which is a chronic lifelong condition, period,” he said. “We have another person who has said things like, ‘Well, Jennifer [Aniston] was into long-term relationships, that’s just her way of looking at things.’ I mean, that demeaning attitude towards other people’s emotions. Now put those two people together and you have got a really volatile situation. And they’re constantly creating things to weld themselves together. Which is only going to serve to make a more nuclear eruption. There will be some sort of meltdown that will be phenomenal when it does happen.”

Whoa, Dr. Drew! Those are some strong words, buddy! We know he’s all about drumming up publicity, but those are some strong accusations, and if he’s right, it’s really bad news for their six kids!

Our girl is back from rehab with a new lease on life… complete with glowing skin!

Lindsay Lohan is out of the slammer and rehab early, and despite complaining about the paparazzi hounding her every move, seems to be on the mend in a big way because, hey, let’s chat about how amazing her skin looks! I mean, please do a comparison: pre-jail and rehab she looked puffy, tired and dare I say older than her 24 years. But now? WOW. Who knew jail and rehab could be so good for the complexion?!? My guess is days of sleep without drugs and alcohol has given her a rather spectacular glow, not to mention that incarceration food looks pretty great for one’s diet.

Dr. Ronald Minutoli, MD, a General Practitioner who doesn’t work with Lindsay, agrees with my observation of Lindsay’s new post-rehab glow:

“It’s very common for someone to look better after even a brief break from using drugs and alcohol. One of the things that alcohol does is that it causes fluid retention, which is reflected in the skin. Add to that the fact that people who are using it to excess aren’t usually eating in a healthy manner and it adds up. It doesn’t take long to see an improvement in the skin and someone’s general appearance after a break from drugs and alcohol that an appearance is better. You see better color return to the skin and yes, they look much healthier, even younger.”

However, Dr. Bruce Katz, board-certified dermatologist and Director of the Juva Skin and Laser Center, has a different take on Lindsay’s fresh new look:

“I see a number of changes. She probably stopped at her dermatologist’s office in between getting out of rehab and when this most recent photo was taken. Her cheeks are much fuller, so I think she’s had some cheek augmentation – Radiesse or Sculptra, most likely. Her eyebrows are more raised and her upper eyelid and lower lid are less baggy, which suggests she’s probably had some Botox to raise the brows and improve the appearance  of the eyes. The lips are fuller, especially the bottom lip, so she’s probably had some filler injected, either Juvederm or Restylane.”

Whatever it is, I’m calling it now: this could be the best the starlet has looked since her days as a teen queen, and I love the fact that she looks absolutely gorgeous and young again. Has our pretty girl returned…or is it just Freaky Friday?

Pushed to the edge after an intense day of dealing with the addiction no one even knew she had, Rachel storms off the set of the reality show!

It looks like Rachel Uchitel has found herself in yet another less than ideal relationship, this time with the producers of Celebrity Rehab. A source told Radar Online, “After a very intense day of filming, Rachel just couldn’t handle being at the Pasadena Recovery Center where Celebrity Rehab is filmed, and she decided to leave.” Well, at least this time she was the one quitting the relationship!

Luckily for all of us, Rachel realized she would be unable to maintain her “relevance” should she not remain on the VH1 show and returned the next morning after spending the night at the swanky L’Ermitage Hotel in Beverly Hills. The source also told the website, “Her issues go beyond Tiger, but he was the catalyst that pushed her over the edge.”

This new season is looking like it will be a hot mess.

The VH1 show gets yet another famous by association cast member as Emma Roberts’ dad and Julia’s bro Eric joins the cast!

It looks like the cast of Celebrity Rehab is set now with reports Eric Roberts, brother to actress Julia Roberts and dad to up and coming starlet Emma Roberts, has checked in. Radar Online reports, “The 54-year-old star of such films as The Dark Knight and Fight Club, has moved into the Pasadena Recovery Center and is bunking with former Mallrats star Jeremy London.” Why do I have the feeling he and Rachel Uchitel will become very close friends?

Jeremy said of his new rehab pal, “Eric Roberts is my roommate and is simply amazing. He’s an incredible person.” He also said the cast of the show was “unbelievably cool,” making it near impossible to believe anything that comes out of his mouth.

Eric and his sister were estranged for years following Eric’s drug usage and Julia’s decision to support his ex-girlfriend and not her brother over the custody of Emma. She is likely thrilled to begin her press tour for Eat, Pray, Love and discuss her brother’s new television show with various journalists.

It’s a good thing you got out Elin, just released texts show that Tiger was asking his former mistress to get him drugs all the time!

It looks like we have finally figured out the reason Rachel Uchitel will be on Celebrity Rehab — she and Tiger Woods had a possible addiction to Ambien! In texts just released to Radar Online Rachel responds to Tiger’s request for more Ambien by saying, “Ok, but we need to talk about this. I don’t know how to deal with us possibly being addicted to prescription meds. What can I say to make you stop taking Ambien excessively? What can I do to prove that I’m worried?”

It has been released that Tiger used the pill, normally a sleep aid, while having sex with Rachel. He responds to her text by saying, “I feel like taking pills is my only alternative!”

It is unknown if Tiger is in fact addicted to the prescription medication, but Rachel’s usage is what has caused her decision to enter Celebrity Rehab. That and money of course.
