Wherever you’re headed this holiday season, you undoubtedly will have to dress up at least once. And it’s only fitting you have a festive hairstyle to match! A low chignon never goes out of style and adds instant elegance to any outfit. Plus, it’s incredibly easy to create and will look like you just stepped out of a top salon. No one has to know it only took you five minutes to fashion!

To get your hair looking fab, here, step-by-step tips on how to create the perfect holiday party style from hairstylist Patrick Melville. Celebrate your holiday season in high style!

1. Blow-dry hair with Mason Pearson Brush or round brush, when hair is dry, spray hair with the AVEENO® Dry Shampoo at the root to create texture

2. Take a small tail comb and tease very gently at the root throughout the head, flip hair upside down and break up hair with your finger

3. Grab hair at the nape and secure with hair tie, this should create a little texture and softness around your face

4. With the tail comb, gently tease the ponytail to create more texture, spin ponytail around to create a chignon at nape of neck and secure with a straight pin or bobby pin

5. Break up with fingers on the bottom, use a lightweight hairspray to secure in place, finish with a sparkly headband or clip

The two stars opted for two totally different get-ups for the fall 2011 presentation in Paris — but who did you think was best dressed?

Both Katie Holmes and Cate Blanchett were among the famous faces in the front row sitting pretty for the Armani Privé fall 2011 presentation on July 5 in Paris, where the crowd took in a collection inspired by Japan. While Cate flaunted a red frock from the Armani Privé spring 2011 collection, Katie opted for an effortlessly chic black suit and a sexy pair of pumps.

While both Katie and Cate exuded chic elegance, I totally think Katie’s cropped trousers and snakeskin pumps were perfect for the occasion and stayed true to Katie’s classic style. What do you think?

Cate Blanchett, who is most known for her roles in movies like The Gift, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Aviator, Elizabeth: The Golden Age and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, has another big year ahead of her!

Cate is set to reprise her role as Galadriel in The Hobbit, parts one and two, which she’ll star in alongisde fellow Lord of the Ring-ers, Ian McKellan, Ian Holm, Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood!

But, the Oscar winning actress‘ number one priority remains being a devoted mom to her three boys, Dashiell, 9, Roman, 7, and Ignatius, 3, with husband, playwright Andrew Upton.

“It is very touching when you see echoes of your parents, your brothers and sisters or your partner in them,” she says of her kids. “Touching and strangely comforting, in fact. It completes some kind of circle, somehow.”

Natalie Portman and Jane Krakowski joined the ranks of gorgeous moms-to-be who dazzled on the Golden Globe red carpet!

For the past few years, we have seen celebrity moms-to-be shine on the red carpet of the Golden Globe Awards and this year was no different. Pregnant Natalie Portman looked stunning as she accepted her award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama at the Globe Globe awards last night, Jan. 16, for her amazing performance in Black Swan. The 29-year-old recently announced that she is expecting a baby with beau-turned-fiance, Benjamin Millepied and she looked radiant on one of the biggest nights of her life! Maternity wear sure has come a long way, and we’re excited about the couture glad baby bumps we saw last night!
