Cassandra Elyse Norwood, 21, gave birth to a baby boy in Athens, Ga. on Nov. 1 at the house she shared with parents and other relatives, but delivered the baby in secret while she was home alone without any medical assistance. 

That same afternoon, police received a phone call from someone who found the baby’s lifeless body inside the house.

Shortly after first-responders arrived on the scene to find the murdered newborn, Cassandra was taken into custody and charged with murder.

She was then sent to Athens Regional Medical Center to be treated for blood loss related to the delivery, before being transfered back to jail on Nov. 2.

Police wouldn’t give a possible motive for the murder, but said the 21-year-old did not require psychiatric care.
