Casey is amazingly UNHAPPY with the result of her murder trial. She wants to get the four guilty verdicts she was handed for providing false information to the police overturned!

Casey Anthony‘s defense attorney, Jose Baez, filed a notice of appeal at the Orange County Courthouse today, July 15!

The jury found Casey guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer regarding the 2008 disappearance of her daughter Caylee, 2, back in 2008.

The lies — about where she worked, who she knew, and the identity of a fictional nanny she accused of kidnapping her daughter — hindered the police search for Caylee.

She even admitted she wasn’t telling the truth, once cops found ways to disprove her lies.

Despite the verdicts and the maximum sentence she was handed, Casey will still walk free from jail on Sunday, July 17. So why is she appealing?

The sentence of four consecutive years for lying to authorities was harsh, says attorney Raoul Felder and here’s why!

Everyone was on the edge of their seats waiting to see if Casey Anthony was going to walk out of the courtroom on July 7 a free woman but instead she’s headed back to jail. Judge Belvin Perry asserted his power as much as possible by sentencing Casey to one year in jail for each of the four counts of lying to police. HollyBaby.com spoke with legendary prosecutor and former Assistant US Attorney of New York Raoul Felder as to whether the judge’s ruling was too harsh.

“This sentencing was unfair because the judge was punishing her for something the jury found her not guilty of — in a sense,” Raoul explains. “Casey has no criminal record. Everybody lies to the FBI, and to give her four years without a criminal record is really very harsh.”

Judge Belvin did give Casey credit for time served, she spent a little under three years behind bars — Raoul says this is something that the judge didn’t have to do.

“The judge didn’t have to give her credit for time served … he doesn’t have to do it,” Raoul says. “Judge Belvin would have been criticized too highly if he hadn’t and he knew that. But he stuck it to her by giving her the full sentence … he threw the book at her as much as he could. It would have been considered cruel and inhumane punishment if she hadn’t been given time served after being acquitted. Normally when someone is acquitted you get time served — even when you’re guilty you get time served!”

Currently the judge is in his chambers along with Casey’s defense attorney Jose Baez determining how to apply this sentence along with considering “good behavior time” for the three years Casey has already served behind bars.

“Casey might spend six months in jail,” says Raoul. “Now sometimes you get good time depending on what state you’re in. This mean you might get one day per month you were in jail if you didn’t get in trouble and behaved yourself. Also, if the jails are crowded they give ‘good time’ a bit more than usual.”

The judge implied that Casey could be a free woman by the end of July or early August — her defense team also has about one month to appeal this.

“This is a tough sentence and it’s clear he didn’t agree with the jury’s verdict,” Raoul says. “It’s a bit reminiscent OJ Simpson. Remember when he did a stupid thing with the memorabilia and his [33 year] sentence was obviously because he murdered his wife.”

At least, Judge Belvin Perry Jr. did what he could to punish you by keeping you behind bars for a couple more months.

It’s not exactly making you pay the price for the murder of your daughter. After all the jury admitted they didn’t have enough evidence to do that. But clearly the judge was as sick to his stomach about the verdict as the jurors, who admitted they couldn’t legally convict you.

“We were crying,” revealed juror Jennifer Ford, who insisted that “I did not say she (Casey) was innocent. I just said that there was not enough evidence … we were sick to our stomach to get that verdict.”

Judge Belvin Perry Jr. didn’t have many options to express his disgust with you, Casey.

But he did what he could sentencing you this morning to four consecutive years in jail for obstruction of justice, with credit for time served. It was a “harsh” sentence for the crime of obstruction, top lawyer Raoul Felder told us.

And you know what Casey — it was gratifying to see the look of disappointment on your face when you realized that you wouldn’t be walking out the courtroom door to freedom today.

When you first entered the court you were smiling as if your daughter’s death was anything to smile about. Even though you escaped conviction Casey, your two-year-old daughter Caylee is still gone. Her remains were still found gnawed by animals in a swamp by your house.

But you’ve never expressed any horror that your baby is gone. No one has ever witnessed you wracked with grief over Caylee. So why would you start now.

When you came to court today, your hair was down in a hairstyle just like Kate Middleton‘s and you looked all ready to be released, dressed in a purple V-neck sweater. You’ve written in jail, that you can hardly wait for a manicure, pedicure and more beauty treatments when you’re a free woman.

“Color on my toesies and acrylic nails,” and “I can’t wait to get my teeth whitened,” you gushed in jailhouse letters.

And oh, you can’t wait to have more kids. “I always wanted to adopt a baby or child from another country — is it selfish to want one from Ireland? Accent and all? ,” you wrote.

Unbelievable. AND that’s what the judge must have thought too!

Judge Perry Jr. did his best to throw the book at you Casey. Caylee is so glad!

The Casey Anthony murder trial is still shrouded in mystery over what really happened to her two-year-old daughter, Caylee. Since the trial first began in May, nearly 100 individuals have testified and more than 400 pieces of evidence have been presented to the jury.

The prosecution claims Anthony used chloroform to subdue her daughter and then smothered her with duct tape. They say she hid Caylee’s body in the trunk of her car for several days until it began to decompose and smell. Then she dumped it in a swampy wooded area near the Anthony family home. The toddler’s remains were found in December of 2008, nearly six months after she disappeared.

The defense claims Caylee accidentally drowned in the family’s swimming pool, and that Casey’s dad, ex-cop George Anthony, panicked and decided to make it look like a homicide by taping her mouth and dumping the body in the woods.

George Anthony denies any knowledge of how his granddaughter died, or that he played any part in a cover up.

Casey Anthony declined to testify at the trial.

The 25-year-old is charged with murder in the first-degree, second-degree murder, manslaughter, third-degree felony murder, aggravated manslaughter of a child, aggravated child abuse and four counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer.

The trial is now in the hands of 12 jurors. If convicted of first-degree murder, she could face the death penalty.

With the words, “the defense rests,” many people left the Orlando, FL courthouse still wanting to hear Casey’s side of the story.

And that’s not the only cliffhanger. Cindy Anthony‘s bombshell testimony that it was she who searched for “chloroform” on the family computer instead of her daughter may be disproven by documents!

After two very long weeks of presenting evidence to the jury, the defense team is done, giving the prosecution a chance for rebuttal followed by closing arguments.

Casey Anthony, 25, the mother accused of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee back in 2008, was reportedly getting very anxious to take the stand herself. While this would have undoubtedly been a crowd pleaser for those following the case, her defense advised against it.

Judge Perry Belvin asked, “Is it your decision not to testify?,” to which she replied “Yes, sir.”

“And have you had ample time to discuss this with your attorney?” Perry asked.

“Yes sir,” she answered.

Another shocking turn to come late in the case are documents that could falsify Cindy’s testimony about her searches for ‘chloroform’ on the family computer while also searching for ‘chlorophyll.’ She claimed that she had come home from work in the middle of the day — but was it a cover up to save her daughter from the death penalty?

Forensic expert John Bradley testified earlier in the trial that one specific website on chloroform had been visited around 80 times. The user, according to Bradley, spent a total of three minutes and 11 seconds on five sites relating to chloroform. He also testified that the user appeared to visit Facebook and MySpace pages periodically while searching.

State attorneys have subpoenaed documents from Gentiva Health Services, Cindy’s former employer, which can supposedly prove that she was in fact working during the hours that she said she was home.

Casey’s defense was upset about this new evidence, but Judge Belvin ruled them admissable, saying “Trials are supposed to be about a search for the truth.”

Casey Anthony‘s mother Cindy already testified that she had been the one making incriminating searches for chloroform on the family’s computer, and today shared even more shocking testimony.

Casey‘s defense attorney Jose Baez showed Cindy several pictures today of 2-year-old Casey and the family’s above-ground pool. With teary eyes, the distraught grandmother explained that Caylee had been able to not only open the sliding glass door to get out to the pool, but also to climb the ladder herself.

Cindy said that they swam together very frequently and that “[Caylee] was anxious to get in.”

“We took extra precaution every day to keep the ladder off the pool,” Cindy continued. “We taught Caylee she had to be with us to swim.”

When Cindy returned home from work on June 16, 2008, she said that she found something unusual at home — the ladder was leaned against the pool instead of in its usual spot. This is the day that Caylee went missing, followed by an entire month of not reporting her disappearance.

Prosecutors believe that Casey murdered her daughter and dumped her remains in the woods, while the defense says that Caylee drowned in a swimming accident that was covered up by Casey and her father, George.

Lee Anthony also took the stand. While his earlier testimony left people thinking that he was not convinced of his sister’s innocence, today he shared an important detail that might help Casey in the long run.

According the Lee, the stains in the trunk of Casey’s car, which used to be his, were there when the family purchased it. This doesn’t account for the levels of chloroform and evidence of human decomposition, but it does help.

When Casey’s defense wraps up, the jury will have to decide — Is this woman innocent or guilty? If convicted, she faces the death penalty.

Casey Anthony may have just caught a huge break in her trial for the 2008 murder of her 2-year-old-daughter, Caylee. Her mom Cindy has just negated evidence the prosecution previously used against Casey!

Cindy testified in the Orlando, FL court today that she was the one who searched for the word “chloroform” on the family’s computer, NOT Casey, even though work records show that Cindy was at her job at the time of the searches.

She claimed she had first been searching for something else instead. “I was searching for ‘chlorophyll’ because I was worried that it might affect my dogs,” Cindy said. “I was worried about them eating bamboo.” She later admitted that chloroform and chlorophyll are related, and that’s why the results came up on the computer.

Chloroform is important in this trial because an overwhelming amount of it was found in the trunk of Casey’s car, along with air sample evidence of decomposition!

Cindy’s story seems unlikely, especially after computer forensic expert John Bradley testified earlier in the trial that one specific website on chloroform had been visited around 80 times. He also revealed that the history of this search as well as for “neck-breaking,” “ruptured spleen,” head injury,” and “chest injuries” had been deleted on purpose, not as an automatic computer function.

The user, according to Bradley, spent a total of three minutes and 11 seconds on five sites relating to chloroform. He also testified that the user appeared to visit Facebook and MySpace pages periodically while searching — Does that sound like a middle-aged woman or a then 23-year-old?

Cindy tried to explain the other, more violent searches by saying that she had a friend in a car accident, so she was looking up different injuries, adding “I did not search for neck breaking, but there was a pop up for a YouTube video of a skateboarder doing a ‘neck breaking’ stunt.”

When cross examined by prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick, Cindy seemed unsure of a few details.

Linda: “Is it your testimony that you were home?”

Cindy: “It’s possible. I mean…”

Linda: “Were you or weren’t you?”

Cindy: “I can’t tell you exactly what time I went home.”

Later in the trial, Linda asked Cindy, “Did you do 84 searches on the effects of chlorophyll on your animals?”  She replied,”I didn’t do 84 searches of anything.”

A lawyer representing Cindy and her husband, George Anthony, recently said that Casey’s parents are not convinced of her innocence, but later retracted his statement.

After all the evidence we’ve seen against Casey Anthony, this doesn’t come as a surprise — now it’s her defense team’s turn!

Casey Anthony‘s trial continued today and Judge Belvin Perry did NOT grant the accused mother an acquittal. The judge said the state had presented “substantial, competent evidence for this jury,” which means that the trial continues when the defense attorney present their case tomorrow, Jun. 16. Much like her demeanor throughout the rest of the trial, Casey showed no reaction.

Defense attorney Cheney Mason claimed that the prosecutors failed to prove that a murder had even taken place, premeditated or otherwise, and that there is only proof of one thing: “the child is dead.” Photos of 2-year-old Caylee’s remains, including a duct-taped skull were shown to the court room last week.

“There has been a stacking of inferences. A stacking of speculation. No evidence. . . There is no evidence to suggest when she died, where she died, how she died, who if anyone was in attendance with her when she died,” said Cheney. However, there are still many people convinced of Casey’s guilt at this point in the trail, and they want to see her brought to justice.

Assistant State Attorney Linda Drane Burdick responded, “It is our position that a reasonable jury can conclude that Caylee Marie Anthony died as a result of three pieces of duct tape applied to her nose and mouth, as a result of poisoning by chloroform [and] as a result of a combination of the two.”

The next half of the trial is going to be intense — can Casey possibly convince the jury that she told countless lies and covered up her daughter’s death all because her father allegedly molested her as a child?
