Carly Rae Jepsen, 27, and Brandy Norwood, 33, both rang in 2013 by performing their new hits at some of the country’s biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations. They also both wore their long, dark locks in loose, tousled waves topped with cropped bangs.

Carly Rae celebrated New Year’s Eve by performing in Times Square in New York City. Her signature blunt  bangs came all the way down to her eyes, narrowing the frame of her face. Though the severe crop is totally on trend, these bangs would be more flattering if they just barely skimmed her eyebrows. Her long, thick mane looked shiny and healthy in messy waves.

Brandy rang in the new year by performing on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in Los Angeles, California. Her bangs are much shorter than Carly’s, plus they have a frayed, piece-y texture that is repeated in the length of her hair. We love that she’s not hiding behind thick bangs, and letting her fringe enhance her face rather than overpower it.

To snag these songstresses’ tousled texture, try a volumizing mousse like Frederic Fekkai Full Volume Mousse. Use a few pumps of this luxurious botanical scented foam on the ends of your damp hair to activate and tame your waves. Brandy Norwood, better known as just Brandy … or Moesha, is engaged to Ryan Press, according to a new report.

“They are thrilled and happy and Brandy feels this is so right,” an insider tells Us Weekly.

Before Brandy, 33, accepted Ryan’s proposal, she expressed her interest in marrying the music executive.

“I keep hearing about a ring. People keep calling me, hinting to me about it, but I don’t know,” Brandy told Sister2Sister magazine in August. “I’m going to be patient and let it happen and just let it be. . . I guess it will happen when it’s the right time.”

Brandy ended her relationship with Robert Smith, daughter Sy’rai’s father, in the public eye and since then, the singer lost her faith in love. However, Ryan reportedly restored her faith.

“I had given up on love a long time ago. It just didn’t seem to work for me, so I was single for a very long time,” Brandy said. “I stopped looking for love and then I ran into my boyfriend. He just loves me for who I am. I don’t have to camouflage anything for him or put on a mask. I can completely be myself and he loves me so much and I love him just the way he is, too.”

This will be the first marriage for the “Put It Down” singer even though she appeared to be married to Robert during their relationship, which was heavily featured on the reality show Brandy: Special Delivery.  However, in 2008, Brandy admitted that she was never actually married to the music producer. She said they pretended to be married for two years after the singer learned she was pregnant. “I lied because of the fear of what people would think and the pressure to be a good role model,” Brandy told Us at the time. “Our relationship was very real — we just weren’t legally married.”

Brandy released her sixth studio album, Two Eleven, in October, and she currently stars in BET’s hit comedy The Game.

The VH1 Divas 2012 event at the Shrine Auditorium on Dec. 16 in California drew quite the crowd! From Miley Cyrus, (who opted for her signature edge in a sophisticated Omo by Norma Kamali cutout dress), to Demi Lovato in a feminine frock from one of her fave brands, Topshop, there was so much variety on the red carpet. These gals definitely didn’t stick to demure looks — and they weren’t alone! You can see all the interesting looks from last night right here.

Ciara was by far the most glam of the night, and definitely the main stunner on the red carpet. While she has an affinity for sexy, show-stopping minis she swapped her usual style for a totally gorgeous Pamella Roland gown that fit her like a glove. The plunging, sequin long-sleeved get-up featured sheer panels and a train — and she looked so fantastic in the fabulous gown! I hope we get to see more of this side of Ciara.

After Ciara, I also really liked Miley’s red carpet look — but I can’t say the same about her performance get-up. While it was definitely edgy and performance perfect, I still like Miley’s mature, sophisticated style much better than her cropped, studded top and low-waisted pants. While she’s definitely in great shape and can easily pull off her punk-rock stage style, I think she really stands out on the red carpet when she dresses sexy and chic.

Although Rihanna, 24, is said to be the first choice for the role, a wide-range of celebs like Vivica Fox, 40, and Jordin Sparks, 22, are also being considered to play the late singer, who died on Feb. 11, reports The Daily Mail.

But before any of you shake your fists in disgust at the idea that Hollywood’s trying to profit off the star’s death, apparently, the biopic was in the works before Whitney died.

“Whitney knew about the project and was excited to see where it would lead,” a source told The People newspaper. “It’s hoped the biopic will be as successful as Tina Turner movie What’s Love Got To Do With It, which landed two Oscar nominations for Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne who played Tina and Ike Turner.”

Of all of the prospective stars hoping to be play Whitney, though, it seems pop star Brandy, 33, has been the most vocal.

“My dream role would be to play Whitney Houston,” Brandy told TrueExclusives just weeks before Whitney died. “Of course she would have to sing all the songs. But I would love to play Ms. Whitney. I have her personality down pat, her ‘isms’ down pat. Like no offense ladies — it’s a lot of talented ladies there — but nobody can play Whitney like me. Yes!”

We found Brandy Norwood, 32, at the 4th Annual ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon looking a little blotchy– and it was all due to her undereye concealer being too light for her! We’ve all been there with beauty mishaps, so we don’t judge. But since this is a problem that so many of us have, we thought we’d get to the bottom of it!

Foundations are getting easier to match with your skin tone, but concealer is still a hard art to master. Since concealer is made to HIDE flaws, not make them, follow the tips below to get camera-ready!

• Use concealer ONLY if your foundation doesn’t offer enough coverage. We never want to wear more makeup than we need to!

• When concealing under your eyes, use a shade with a pink, orange, or yellow undertone. These are neutralizing colors that will hide dark circles and blend them with your natural skin tone.

• Apply foundation over your concealer to blend the colors together evenly.

• Avoid using powder concealers. Use cream or liquid, so you can use your fingers to blend!

New Year’s Eve has come and gone but the fabulous photos from the hottest place to be – Las Vegas – are still coming in! Emmy Rossum might be one of the only people on Earth that can get away with this little makeup and still look amazing. The hair is perfection and the blush pink makeup is just so lovely.

Jenna Dewan went for a gorgeous siren look with lush lashes and a five-alarm fire red lip. Love the tousled curls. This look’s a winner for Jenna.

Kim Kardashian worked a very retro glam hair and makeup look as she brought in the New Year.  So lovely!

Then we have Rihanna, rocking her cherry red hair in curls. Sultry eye makeup and a pretty pink lip made this look a total win.

Brandy looked rather lovely as well.  Love the glossy curls and her makeup simply glows.

Fergie worked some serious long curls and her signature come-hither defined eye makeup. Love the rocker glam look!

Beyonce was nothing short of spectacular. Gotta love the sleek hair and the lush lashes and defined cat eye are beyond gorgeous.

Giada de Laurentiis looked really lovely.  Love the soft updo with side tendrils and the makeup is perfect with look-at-me lashes and pretty pink lip.

I have to say, Kirsten Dunst looked really lovely on the red carpet that night. Love the glowing makeup look and the updo is polished and pretty!
