Carly Rae Jepsen, 27, and Brandy Norwood, 33, both rang in 2013 by performing their new hits at some of the country’s biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations. They also both wore their long, dark locks in loose, tousled waves topped with cropped bangs.

Carly Rae celebrated New Year’s Eve by performing in Times Square in New York City. Her signature blunt  bangs came all the way down to her eyes, narrowing the frame of her face. Though the severe crop is totally on trend, these bangs would be more flattering if they just barely skimmed her eyebrows. Her long, thick mane looked shiny and healthy in messy waves.

Brandy rang in the new year by performing on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in Los Angeles, California. Her bangs are much shorter than Carly’s, plus they have a frayed, piece-y texture that is repeated in the length of her hair. We love that she’s not hiding behind thick bangs, and letting her fringe enhance her face rather than overpower it.

The Oct. 11 episode of 90210 served as an hour-long reminder of why I don’t get political: Everybody ends up getting hurt. Or they become prostitutes. Regardless, the gang had a rough go of things this week — and it might be too late for two fan-favorite couples to pick up the pieces.

Teddy (Trevor Donovan) made his triumphant return to Beverly Hills this week, but if he had idea how much drama was waiting for him, he might not have been in such a rush to come back. He bumped into Shane (Ryan Rottman), an old flame from Barcelona, only to discover his uncle was running for Congress against the very politician Shane had sworn his undying allegiance to!

Oh, and did I mention that politician was played by Brandy? Because she was totally played by Brandy. I literally cannot stress that fact enough.

In an ongoing effort to boost her sorority’s profile on campus, Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) decided to help students register to vote — and with a little event-planning assistance from everybody’s favorite cowboy, the “Strip to Vote” party was born! Unsurprisingly, Naomi and Austin (Justin Deeley) did most of the stripping, ultimately finding themselves in an awkward, clothes-less position with Max (Josh Zuckerman.)

Meanwhile, Annie (Shenae Grimes) continued her G-rated escort business — seriously, a sex-less dinner date is not technically prostitution — but this time she brought a new girl into the fold. Yes, Navid’s naughty little sister is now Annie’s partner in Disney-level crime. This is sure to end adorably. Not well, but definitely adorably.

Things also got tense between Liam (Matt Lanter), Jane (Kristina Apgar) and Jane’s zombie husband this week, as a scuffle between the dudes landed pregnant Jane in the hospital. I really hope the baby’s OK. But more importantly, I really hope zombie husband doesn’t start nomming on Liam’s beautiful brain. Who would run the bar?!

Lastly, and certainly most tragic, is what went down between Navid (Michael Steger) and Silver (Jessica Stroup) this week. Silver got back to her intrepid reporter roots — I’m bummed she gave up on that dream, by the way — and found out about Navid’s uncle’s little illegal car ring. But instead of understanding, she basically broke up with him and moved in with Naomi until he gets his life together. Talk about overreacting! I think someone’s off their meds again…

Brandy Norwood, one of the four contestants remaining on Dancing With The Stars, admits she was outraged when Rick Fox and Audrina Patridge were kicked off the show! “I was very shocked at Rick Fox and Audrina,” Brandy confessed Nov. 11 on Larry King Live. “They were doing great and they did some of their best dances and were voted off. I just didn’t understand that and was disturbed by that because they were so good.”

Despite Brandy’s personal opinions, the fans ultimately decided to send Rick and Audrina packing.

When it comes to choosing songs for Dancing with the Stars, there’s no such thing as a coincidence. TMZ is reporting that Bristol Palin will channel her romance with Levi Johnston on Sept. 27 as she and partner Mark Ballas do the quickstep to Diana Ross & The Supremes‘ “You Can’t Hurry Love.” We’re only two weeks in and it’s already clear: Bristol is so this season’s Kate Gosselin.

Here’s the complete list of songs and dances that will be used on the Sept. 27 episode:

1. Rick Fox and partner Cheryl Burke will do the jive to ZZ Top‘s “Tush”

Guess what, BFFs? Bristol Palin has a serious shot at winning Dancing with the Stars this season! Why? Because we’ve learned exclusively that she has two-time champ Mark Ballas as her dance partner – and ABC confirms our report!

“Producers want to pair Mark with someone that will get her votes in case there’s a backlash,” a show insider tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. Meaning: there may be more Americans  aside from ex-fiance Levi Johnston that don’t want to rock the vote for the single teenage mom!

But there’s more! The insider tells us that Mark’s dad,  Corky Ballas, is returning to the show to partner Brady Bunch mom Florence Henderson! The 49-year-old professional dancer previously strutted his stuff on the DWTS stage with Cloris Leachman on the show’s seventh season.

The insider also tells us that certain pairings are in flux because they’re still trying to get Polish dancer Edyta Śliwińska to return to the show; she just confirmed she was quitting Dancing with the Stars after five years on her Twitter account, writing, “I decided it’s time to move on with my life, pursue other projects and finish school. By the way my major is media and communication not dance as TMZ quoted. TMZ terribly misquoted and misinterpreted everything I said. But the truth is that I’m moving on.” If Edtya, 29, DOES return, she’ll be partnered with former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff.

And although Tony Dovolani expressed an interest in partnering up with Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey, we hear Brandy Norwood is in talks to be his other half on season 11 of the hit ABC show. Regardless, our insider tells us that that the 37-year-old pro is “getting somebody good this year to make up for [his awful season 10 partner] Kate Gosselin!“
