Bill Cunningham (born on March 13, 1929, in Boston, Massachusetts) was an American fashion photographer. After serving a tour in the U.S. Army, he returned to New York in 1953 and started writing for Women’s Wear Daily. He eventually began working for The New York Times and became one of the most iconic fashion photographers of all time. He photographed fashion and New York in a way no one else could. He was named a living landmark in 2009 by the New York Landmarks Conservancy. A week after suffering a stroke in June 2016, Bill passed away on June 25, 2016. He was 87.
