Taylor Swift‘s performance at the 2012 American Music Awards on Nov. 18, was in a nutshell, a total smash. While Justin Bieber, Usher and No Doubt, to name but a few, also gave impressive sets, it was Taylor who totally stole the show. It is Taylor’s personal connection with her songs that make her performances so special and powerful, and this one was no exception.

Taylor wrote the song “I Knew You Were Trouble” about her former lover John Mayer and how he humiliated her, madeclear by the lyrics: “A new notch in your belt is all I’ll ever be… And now I see, now I see, now I see… He was long gone when he met me… And I realize the joke is on me.”

I commend Taylor highly for taking to the stage and singing so publicly about her romantic failures, and because she never actually names John, she does it with class and grace. What a performance it was!

The setting of Taylor’s performance was a masquerade ball turned dark. Complete with chandeliers, candles, smoke and masked dancers, it was an epic show that even had a costume change in the middle! Taylor began by descending stairs and, during the set, the dancers crowded her to remove her lovely white dress, revealing the star in a much sexier red corset.

I think Taylor is such a great performer, not only because she always sings live, but also because her songs send such a clear message: don’t screw her over! She has the inspiring break up voice that I wish I had, as she proves that no matter how badly a guy can break your heart, there is always a comeback.

Prior to her performance, Taylor told Lance Bass and Eden Sher that this is her favorite track on the album Red, and I think I would have to agree. All I can say is, Taylor, I knew you would be awesome when you walked out!

Justin Bieber‘s career has benefited greatly from Usher’s mentorship, and that isn’t something that Usher takes lightly, especially while Justin’s dealing with his turbulent romance with Selena Gomez. While backstage at the American Music Awards on Nov. 18, Usher opened up about what his continued presence in Justin’s life and career will be!

Speaking with reporters backstage at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater, Usher was asked what his advice was for Justin when it comes to being a long-term artist. He explained that he offers his own career as an example for Justin, saying, “The proof is in the pudding. The longer you do it, the more of an example you can set and being able to be that to him, being a mentor, that is the example.”

The R&B superstar gushed about his protégé’s success and also explained that he’ll continue to encourage growth for Justin. “This is an early start for him,” Usher said. “He has had an incredible few years, and I’m going to continue to push him to be his best self.”

Judging by Justin’s phenomenal success already, it’s obvious that Usher is a great mentor. We hope that the two continue to work together to push Justin’s career to even greater heights!

While we saw so many sexy looks at the 2012 American Music Awards, lace was easily one of the biggest trends of the night. From Taylor Swift in a Zuhair Murad mini to Kerry Washington in a vibrant yellow Stella McCartney, we saw so many different stylish stars show off the look in so many different ways!

Carrie Underwood stood out in purple, while Heidi Klum followed Taylor’s lead in a short and lacy mini. While the trend is such a feminine style staple, it clearly came back in a big way for the AMAs!

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez’s relationship has been filled with plenty of drama in the last couple of weeks — after reports that the two had broken up, they were seen trying to reconcile in New York. Only days later, Selena stormed out of a dinner in Los Angeles. But at the American Music Awards on Nov. 18, Justin won big — he took home three awards and Selena.

During the show, Justin basically dedicated his performance to Selena, singing “As Long As You Love Me” and having guest rapper Nicki Minaj rap Selena’s name in “Beauty And A Beat.”

An eyewitness told E! News that Justin, 18, and Selena, 20, left the Nokia Theatre together hand-in-hand after the show.

Selena was not on camera during the TV show, nor was she photographed on the red carpet, but at the end, she met up with Justin and walked out with him.

According to x17Online, the couple went to the after party at Bootsy Bellows nightclub in West Hollywood. They arrived at about 1:30am and stayed for about an hour. At the end of the night, Selena was spotted walking around barefoot as she headed back to her house with Justin in tow.

As we previously reported, a source told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY, “It’s not that Selena didn’t want to come to the AMAs, she just didn’t want all the attention to be on their relationship. She wanted it to be about the music and let Justin just be there for his fans. She still loves Justin. The love is still there, they just need to disappear to an exotic island together.”

Selena Gomez may not have been sitting next to Justin Bieber during the American Music Awards on Nov. 18, but she was by his side after the ceremony — and late into the night!
The brunette beauty was spotted sneaking into the Biebs’ trailer after the event, reports Life & Style. “Selena didn’t walk the carpet or arrive at the venue with Justin,” reveals an eyewitness, “but after the show I saw Justin’s mom, Pattie, come out of his trailer. About five minutes later, Selena walked out.”

“She was dressed down, wearing a gray hoodie. She had to have been in Justin’s trailer for at least an hour.” The star accessorized with a little leopard, staying warm in a Theodora & Callum scarf.

Even though Justin won all three of the awards he was nominated for, including Artist of the Year, the eyewitness says the pair looked agitated as they exited the trailer.

“They did not talk to each other when they all left,” adds the onlooker. “They were completely quiet with a few bodyguards. Justin was wearing the outfit he wore during his performance, with a black hat. Selena left with Justin and his mom.”

Uh oh. Let’s hope the two were just worn out from the event and not fighting again!

After leaving the American Music Awards hand-in-hand on Nov. 18, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez continued the celebration at an after party held at the Marriot Downtown in Los Angeles, California.

Although Jelena have yet to publicly comment on their rumored split, the pair looked very couple-y as they exited the Nokia Theater together on Nov. 18, arm-in-arm. Furthermore, they were spotted locking lips at the event — we bet they’re back on!

Even though Selena was absent from the actual ceremony, we’re so glad the two were able to spend the rest of the night side by side. The star dressed down, pairing her denim with a leopard Theodora & Callum scarf.

“It’s not that Selena didn’t want to come to the AMAs, she just didn’t want all the attention to be on their relationship,” a source previously told HollywoodLife.com. “She wanted it to be about the music and let Justin just be there for his fans. She still loves Justin. The love is still there, they just need to disappear to an exotic island together.”

Lucy Hale‘s a busy gal! We first saw the star when she stepped out on the red carpet on Nov. 17 for Nickelodeon’s 2012 TeenNick Halo Awards in LA, where she opted for a white Cameo dress — and that wasn’t the only lovely look she showed off this weekend!

The very next day, the petite star turned up at the 40th anniversary of the American Music Awards, where she opted for a different dress. A black Elizabeth and James frock accentuated her waist, and on this occasion she wore her hair down. A Baublebar statement necklace completed the ensemble.

While the star opted for a bold necklace at the AMAs, for the TeenNick Halo awards she accessorized with a Jennifer Fisher ring and House of Lavande earrings. Pelle Moda shoes and a Lena Erziak bag finished off the look.

Justin Bieber may have performed and taken home high honors Nov. 18 at the 2012 American Music Awards, but it was his kiss from Jenny McCarthy that proved to be his most buzz-worthy moment of the night; and the whole interaction was kind of cute and perfectly innocent — as long as you didn’t look at Jenny’s Twitter feed.

“Cougar rape?” tweeted the one-time Charmed guest star, along with a photo of herself kissing Justin’s neck.

At this point, you might be thinking, “Whoa, Jenny. Rape jokes aren’t funny.” But it turns out she wasn’t kidding, as she later tweeted her disappointment about Justin getting back together with Selena Gomez.

“My cub @justinbeiber brought his acceptable and beautifully aged beauty Selena to the AMA after party,” Jenny later tweeted. “Guess I’m back on the prowl. Rww!”

Her misspelling of Justin’s last name aside, how creepy is it that 40-year-old Jenny seemed genuinely disappointed she wouldn’t be taking Justin home with her?
