Concerning the event, Wilde gave opening remarks, introduced Kristof and WuDunn, and shared how she became inspired to join Kristof and WuDunn in empowering women and girls after reading their #1 New York Times’ best-selling book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide. “I can’t wait to welcome in the next generation of supporters through this Facebook game from Games for Change,” said Wilde as she expressed her support for the new game, saying it only made sense that the next platform for the movement was to have a game on Facebook as it allows people to become involved in a compelling way. For the Half the Sky PBS broadcast, which debuted in 2012, Wilde traveled to Kenya with Nicholas Kristof to visit the Umoja Women’s Village.

“This is perhaps the most ambitious social impact game ever,” said Sheryl WuDunn after being introduced by Wilde. “It could potentially reach millions of more people.” “It’s so important not to just preach to the choir, but to build that choir, and that’s how you make a difference,” said Nicholas Kristof.

America Ferrera, another key supporter of the Half the Sky Movement, was one of the last guests to leave the event, spending as much time as she could playing the game with Nicholas and Sheryl. Ferrera was also featured in the Half the Sky PBS broadcast; she traveled to India with Nicholas Kristof to visit Urmi Basu and the New Light shelter.

Also in attendance were: Diana Taylor; actress Monique Coleman (High School Musical); Rachel Lloyd, Founder and CEO of GEMS; Ken Weber, Executive Director, Zynga.org; and Kathy Calvin, President and CEO of United Nations Foundation; amongst others.

Executive produced by non-profit Games for Change, Half the Sky Movement: The Game aims to provide mass mainstream awareness of the issues surrounding women and girls around the world, with a fun and engaging way to raise funds to provide real life-saving tools to empower them towards a better future. The game is free to play and within the first session, players can trigger a real-life book donation and work towards providing a donation of a life-saving fistula surgery.

The game is entirely free but if players would like to extend their play time, they can earn more “energy” by making a donation to any of the game’s seven non-profit partners: The Fistula Foundation, GEMS, Heifer International, ONE, Room to Read, United Nations Foundation, and World Vision.

America met hubby Ryan as a student at the University of Southern California when the aspiring director cast her as the lead role in a student film.  Ryan finally proposed last June after about six years of dating.

Despite the magnificent matrimony, don’t expect America to take on maternal matters any time soon — after recently finishing up her role on The Good Wife, America will be headed back to the studio to record her voice for the sequel to How To Train Your Dragon.  Whatever this cheerful couple decides to do, we are so happy for them!

At the premiere of her new film, The Dry Land, America Ferrera tells us she’s not rushing the wedding planning process, and simply enjoying being engaged

America Ferrera is over the moon about finally getting engaged to longtime boyfriend Ryan Piers Williams, but wants to take some time to appreciate being a bride-to-be.

“Not, not really, not at all,” the 26-year-old former Ugly Betty starlet told HollywoodLife.com at the LA premiere of her new film, The Dry Land, July 19 when we asked if she had starting planning her impending nuptials.

Although America, who first showed off her engagement ring at the Edinburgh Film Festival back in June, isn’t getting into the ‘I do’ details right now, she did take the time to gush about her fiancé, whom she met in college when he cast her in his student film and actually directed The Dry Land. “I’ve been along for the whole ride,” she told us. “ I was an executive producer before I signed on to be an actor in [the film] and I’ve never known anyone to work harder or to care more. I’m so proud of him.”

Ana Ortiz says it could happen — and I’m totally keeping my fingers crossed!

Hey, Ugly Betty fans! The show may be airing its final episode at 10 p.m. ET tonight on ABC, but don’t start mourning your favorite poncho-wearing fashion editor just yet. According to star Ana Ortiz, you may be seeing her again… real soon! “There may be a movie,” Ana spills to Latina.com. “It’s something that we’ve been talking about, and it’s something that America Ferrera would really love to do.” Be still my Ugly-loving heart. I hope this is happens!

“[America] has so much determination that I can’t imagine anything she puts her mind to not getting done,” Ana says.

And even though Ugly Betty is saying bye-bye to ABC, Ana says she’ll NEVER say goodbye to any of her co-stars. “I’m hanging out with Mark Indelicato on Tuesday and I’m seeing America on Friday,” she tells the site. “I’m still hanging out with all of these people. This is family for life!”
