Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) and Sutton (Alexandra Chando) have done a pretty good job of keeping their secrets to themselves — until tonight, that is. Not only did Emma learn the truth about her paternity on the Feb. 5 episode of The Lying Game, but her discovery inspired a game-changing confession that brought Laurel (Allie Gonino) into the fold. In a nutshell, this show just got even more complicated.

Still in Los Angeles, Emma and Thayer (Christian Alexander) managed to figure out that not only is Rebecca the twins’ birth mother, but that she and Sutton have been working together. Desperate to find out what their plan was, the pair rushed back to Scottsdale, only to find an even bigger mess than they expected.

Fueled by a few unwise words from Mads (Alice Greczyn), Laurel had been asking a ton of questions about the twins. Her curiosity eventually led her to follow Sutton on a late-night visit to Rebecca’s house, but she ended up falling off the wall and landing in the hospital.

Sutton successfully swept Laurel’s curiosity under the rug, but Emma knew she’d need another member on her team if she wanted to figure out what Sutton and Rebecca were really up to. So in a very un-Emma-like move, she came clean to Laurel. About everything.

Old Flames Reingite

The kids’ crises may have been intense this week, but they were nothing compared to the marriage-ruining drama going on with the adults. Kristin’s (Helen Slater) insecurities about motherhood weren’t the only secrets that came out when Sutton revealed the diary Rebecca gave her; we also learned she had major feelings for Alec (Adrian Pasdar)!

Wait, did I say “had?” Make that “has.” She has feelings for Alec.

As for Alec, he basically told Dan (Tyler Christopher) that he was only living with Rebecca to find out how she set him up to go to jail. And here I thought their marriage was based on love and mutual trust…

Jordan’s Dark Past

Remember when Ryan Rottman told me that Jordan had a few “skeletons” in his past? We got our first taste this week when Rebecca confronted him about his relationship with Laurel. It turns out Becks is pressuring her son to spend time with Laurel to create a more direct road to Ted, and when he challenged her authority, she threatened to tell everyone in Scottsdale what he

So what is he hiding? All I know is that we can rule out the secret being about his flawless helmet hair. That secret’s already out.

ABC Family’s The Lying Game doesn’t return with its second season until January, but because some secrets are just too good to keep, Allie Gonino is giving HollywoodLife.com a peek at what’s to come — and it sounds like big changes are on the way for her character. “In season one, Laurel hung back and kept to herself,” Allie says. “She had all the boyfriends and the music stuff going on, but now she’s fully entrenched in the drama and the mystery of it all.”

Here are five mini spoilers Allie shared with me:

1. Courtroom drama: “[The premiere] picks up, not exactly where we left off, but shortly after,” Allie says. “The first episode picks up when we go to court to see Alec’s trial. It’s a couple weeks after that whole situation [at the wedding] happened.”

2. Love on the rocks: “Rebecca [Charisma Carpenter] is basically trying to tear Ted and Kristin’s marriage apart to get back together with Ted,” Allie says. “So whenever Laurel finds out about the twins, and that Sutton has been working with Rebecca, it has a big effect on where she aligns herself.”

3. Secret’s out: “Emma [Alexandra Chando] finally tells Laurel about her, Rebecca and Sutton,” Allie says. “So Laurel has a bit of an internal struggle about what to do with the situation. She gets more involved as the season goes on.”

4. Move over, Justin: “There’s actually a new boy coming to town this season who ruffles everyone’s feathers [played by 90210's Ryan Rottman] and his name is Jordan,” Allie says. (Randy Wayne‘s Justin is nowhere to be seen in season two.)

5. More music: “My band The Good Mad, which is called Strangeworthy on the show, is going to be performing on the first two episodes of the second season,” Allie reveals.

Allie Gonino tells BeautyHigh.com that she has trouble getting her hairstyle just right, so her go-to look is always curls! “I’m pretty handicapped when it comes to doing cool hair styles so normally I just let it air dry or if I attempt to fix it, I like to use a hot stick and curl my hair.”

This is not to say that Allie is opposed to taking beauty risks — she tells BeautyHigh.com that she’s willing to wear some pretty wacky things.

“I’m also going to try to rock some fabulous head pieces. Hayley Kiyoko gave me a beautiful vintage head piece for my 21st birthday and I can’t wait to wear it to a cool event,” says Allie.

I didn’t think it was possible, but somehow everyone’s lives have gotten even more complicated now that Sutton (Alexandra Chando) is back in Phoenix, and I’ve got a feeling the mayhem she caused on the Jan. 16 episode of The Lying Game was merely a taste of what’s to come. Not only is Emma’s place in the Mercer family now jeopardized, but so is her relationship with Ethan (Blair Redford), as well as Sutton’s relationship with Thayer (Christian Alexander.) Oh, and she has no idea who wrote that terrifying letter.

Sutton did, however, reveal that Annie Hobbs was the one who saved her from her car the night it sank into the lake. The details of that are sketchy at best, but at least we know her own mother didn’t try to kill her. I guess that’s a relief.

Laurel’s (Allie Gonino) own brand of drama continued when she caught Justin (Randy Wayne) all up in another girl’s business at Sutton’s party, but the really surprising part was the shoulder Laurel ended up crying on. Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) befriended her, and convinced her she’d feel a lot better if she put her musical talents to good use on stage — with Allie’s real-life band The Good Mad, no less. It was a nice moment between Laurel and Rebecca, but I’m not totally sure Rebecca did it out of the goodness of her heart. I’ve got a feeling she’s just trying to get close to Laurel as part of her master plan… now if only I had any idea what her endgame is.

Of course, Sutton wasn’t the only shady character who returned to Phoenix this week. A smarmy British gentleman by the name of Ryan (Misha Crosby) came a-calling for Mads (Alice Greczyn), and he wouldn’t take no for an answer. It seems the two have a complicated history, but now that he’s been kicked out of his boarding school, Ryan is determined to get back into Mads’ good graces… and maybe her pants. He was off to a good start this week, sneaking ballet tickets into a pizza and delivering it to her house, but while I’m glad Mads has a new guy in her life — I’m not holding my breath for Eduardo to come back — I can’t help wonder what Ryan’s got up his sleeve. After all, are any of the guys on this show exactly what they seem?

And what a perfect segue that is to the episode’s biggest surprise of all: Justin’s epic truth bomb! After Laurel finally told him off for treating her like crap, Justin revealed that he blames her dad for his mom’s death. It turns out he was the doctor who allowed her to die during a routine appendix operation. So not only has he been carrying a grudge for her dad, but that’s the whole reason he arranged to meet her in the first place!

Like everything in Justin’s life, his relationship with Laurel has been one big lie.

If there’s one thing no one can deny about Sutton Mercer (Alexandra Chando) it’s that the girl knows how to make an entrance. After months of wondering whether or not The Lying Game‘s evil twin was dead at the bottom of a lake, fans got their answer when Sutton emerged on the show’s Jan. 9 episode — and she was understandably pissed.

After determining Sutton must have been dead, Emma, Ethan (Blair Redford) and Thayer (Christian Alexander) were in the middle of a makeshift memorial service when Sutton made her dramatic entrance through the bedroom doors. Am I the only one who literally gasped when all of this went down? So. Intense.

Meanwhile, Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) continued going about her shady business in Phoenix this week. With Phyllis (Sydney Barrosse) heading to rehab, Rebecca tried to become Char’s (Kristen Prout) part-time guardian to keep her from going to live with her dad. But is she really the sympathetic aunt she appears to be, or could she have an ulterior motive for stepping up like that? As if I even have to ask!

And remember when Allie Gonino told us there would be “heartbreak” coming up for Laurel and Justin (Randy Wayne)? She wasn’t kidding. The couple got into a ridiculous fight this week — Justin was clearly looking for a reason to argue — and he tells Laurel he thinks they need some “time apart.”

Justin’s been saying their dad isn’t the great guy he thinks he is. Does anyone else think Justin might blame their dad for his mom’s death? He does have an autopsy report, and there was a T in the box he burned. Is it from Texas Sutter North University?

I might be completely off-base here, but am I the only one who thinks Justin might blame Ted for his mom’s death? He said all kinds of crazy things to Laurel about how he doesn’t trust Ted, and we did see him burning an autopsy report. Plus, did anyone notice the big “T” logo in his box of things? Maybe his mom went to Texas Sutter North University with Ted!

Relationships are never easy — especially on ABC Family — and it looks like Lauren (Allie Gonino) and Justin (Randy Wayne) are about to understand that a little too well. “There’s some heartbreak involved down the line for Laurel,” Allie tells HollywoodLife.com about the Jan. 9 episode of The Lying Game.

Having seen the episode myself, I can definitely confirm that tonight’s Lying Game marks the beginning of said heartbreak — but Allie is quick to assure her fans know there are more than just gray skies ahead for Laurel.

“There’s also a lot of joy,” she insists. So don’t start crying prematurely.”

Remember that scene on The Lying Game when Justin first ran into Laurel while she was practicing her violin? Well, not only was Allie Gonino not faking her violin skills, but she and her strings are now part of a brand-new musical “outfit” called The Good Mad — and you’re about to know them very well.

Allie, along with bandmates Adam Brooks and Andy Fischer-Price, have crafted a sound she describes as “folk-Americana and rootsy,” and they’ve already had a few shows in Austin. In case you’re wondering where The Good Mad generated its very unique name, Allie says it came about “in a weird way.”

“One of Adam’s favorite books is On The Road by Jack Kerouac, and there’s a quote that says ‘The only ones for us are the mad ones,’” she explains. “We both think that’s a really cool quote, and when we were walking on a bridge while he was visiting here in Austin, we saw it spray painted on the side! So later, when we were just throwing around names, that one came up, and Andy thought it was cool too.”

And fans of The Lying Game will quickly become fans of The Good Mad when the group performs on the show Jan. 16!

“I will be playing on the show,” Allie confirms coyly, adding that “there might be some of the musical guests on the show was well…”

Of course, Allie’s musical career is hardly a new development. She says acting was actually her “secondary venture” behind music, which is the whole reason she moved to Los Angeles in the first place. Before co-founding The Good Mad, Allie was a member of The Stunners, a five-piece girl group that ended up becoming the opening act on Justin Bieber‘s My World tour in summer 2010.

“It was epic,” Allie says of the tour. “It was crazy because it was my first tour ever, and it was the biggest tour in the world. It was like being on a traveling summer camp with your four best girlfriends.”

As for working with Justin, Allie says she learned a lot from him about what he does best — pranking!

“I think we all learned so many new ways to prank people,” she admits. “We were definitely doing pranking on the tour… but then we got in trouble and couldn’t do any more.”

Laurel Mercer has always been the shining example of what a daughter should be — until now. Allie Gonino tells HollywoodLife.com that sweet little Laurel might be taking a cue from her big sister, or at least the girl she thinks is her big sister, on the Oct. 3 episode of The Lying Game. “You have to watch tonight’s episode to find out what really happened [between Lauren and Justin last week],” Allie says. “Laurel is maybe starting to lie a little bit herself.”

“It’s a really good episode tonight,” Allie continues. “A lot of stuff gets resolved, but a lot of new stuff is also introduced.”

And speaking of “new stuff,” it sounds like there’s more to Justin (Randy Wayne) than a perfect smile, a sleeping bag, and an empty bank account.

“At the very end of the episode, you’ll find out something new about Justin,” she reveals. “It’s really juicy new information. … I don’t think your opinion of Justin will change, but you’ll definitely find out how he fits into the overall story.”
