Since her introduction halfway through The Lying Game‘s first season, Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) has schemed her way into the lives of Scottsdale’s finest — and into our hearts. HollywoodLife.com chatted with Charisma about the bombshell revelations of the second season premiere, and how they will affect everyone’s lives moving forward.

I did a soap opera-style gasp when Jordan said he was Rebecca’s son.

“Well, I didn’t give birth to him. Does that make a difference?”

You, Charisma, or you, Rebecca?

“[Laughs] Either. But I would be proud of myself if I had. He’s a stand-up guy, and a good-looking little fella.”

But he’s definitely Mads’ stepbrother, right? So they’re relationship is basically incest.

“It is! It is incestuous.”

How will that little fact mess things up for them?

“Without giving too much away, I think the biggest mess up will have less to do with the family dynamic, and more to do with her having a reckless moment, then realizing at some point in time that I’m the step-mom. She ended up having a forgetful evening, and then she finds out he’s related to me anyway. Double yuck.”

When we last spoke, you said you loved working with Adrian. Will you be doing that less now that Alec is in jail?

“Yes, but there is one episode in particular that I’m excited for. It’s very Mrs. & Mrs. Smith, like a game of cat and mouse. Does she or doesn’t know? Did she or didn’t she do it? It’s a great episode coming up, and I really thought there would be more of that. I think that’s the only disappointment — that there isn’t more of that.”

I really enjoyed Rebecca’s softer moments on the premiere. She really does have a maternal side!

“I think that’s smart when you’re doing a drama; you don’t want the villain to be so villainous that you alienate the audience. I spoke to Chuck [Pratt Jr.] and the producers about not wanting Rebecca to seem one-note, and only to be portrayed as a sassy, scheming woman. … We keep her relatable and keep that vulnerability, so that when you see her evil, it’s all the more shocking.”

Would you say Sutton is clearly Rebecca’s favorite twin?

“There’s been no interaction between Emma and Rebecca that would indicate otherwise. I think the reason she hasn’t reached out to Emma has yet to be determined. My belief as an actress is that Sutton is not her favorite, but she’s just the one who’s tangible and the one Rebecca can be a mom to. She also understands that Sutton is a mini her.”

You may think you know everything about Mads on The Lying Game, but Alice Greczyn tells HollywoodLife.com that things are about to change for her now that the real Sutton (Alexandra Chando) is back in Phoenix, and a new love interest (Misha Crosby) has entered her life. The arrival of both characters “really sparks things up for Mads,” Alice tells us. “Things get more intense.”

Alice tells us she’s particularly excited about working with Misha — and not just because he’s British.

“Misha Crosby, who plays Ryan, is just a charming guy to work with,” she tells us. “And he does Ryan very well. He’s kind of the cocky, too-big-for-his-britches school boy, but he’s so charming that you can’t help but like him.”

And now that I’ve filled you in about all things Mads, allow me to tell you a few things you probably didn’t know about Alice, herself!

1. She’s nothing like Mads: “I don’t really relate to her on a face level,” Alice says. “I come from a very big, very tight-knit family; I’m the oldest of five kids; my parents are still happily married; I grew up in a very poor household; and I was home-schooled until I went to college. Of course, part of the fun is getting to play a character that’s so different from myself.”

2. She was a competitive figure skater: “Mads is a dancer, and that’s another thing we don’t have in common,” Alice admits. “I have a lot of respect for dancers, their discipline, and the pain they endure just because they love what they do so much. I’ve seen online debates about it: People are like, ‘She’s totally a dancer,’ or, ‘No way, look at the way she moves her arms.’ I’ve had movement training and I was a competitive figure skater when I was a kid, but I’m not trained in ballet.”

3. She’s a foodie: “Everyone who knows me knows I love food, which people are usually very surprised to hear,” Alice says. “My family loves food, so I grew up with a very healthy appreciation for other culture’s cuisines. I chose the [Twitter] handle AliceFood, mostly because it wasn’t taken. Other people were pretending to be me on Twitter, so when I finally decided to make my own Twitter, that’s just what stuck.”

4. She’s writing a cook book: “I wrote restaurant reviews for fun for a while, and I’m now in the process of writing a cookbook,” Alice reveals. “One of the biggest thing I’ll do is tweet pictures of what I’m eating, and the iPhone makes it so easy to pretend I’m a good photographer. And I love being able to ask Twitter followers for restaurant recommendations. I usually plan my travels around what I plan to eat, and Twitter is definitely a component of that.”

Remember when I theorized that Alec (Adrian Pasdar) and Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) were going to hook up on The Lying Game? Apparently I’m not as crazy as my therapist says I am! Alice Greczyn recently chatted with HollywoodLife.com about her on-screen dad’s love life, and it sounds like things are about to get real hot real fast. “Rebecca becomes a love interest for Mads’ dad, so she’s around the house a lot,” Alice told us. “Mads initially feels a nice connection with her,” but things don’t stay that way for long.

“As the season goes further, we learn a lot more suspicious things about Rebecca,” Alice added. “Mads is going to become more evaluating of the whole Rebecca situation later on.”

And in case you’re still confused about the whole Annie Hobbs/Annie Sewell fiasco, don’t worry — so is Alice!

“Half the time when I show up on set, I have to talk with the writer before we do the scenes, because I don’t understand what’s going on,” Alice admitted. “It’s a lot to keep track of! I can only imagine as an audience member, who hasn’t read the script or had the privilege of talking to one of the writers, how confusing it must be.”

While Sutton (Alexandra Chando) remained a captive in the same mental hospital as her mother, Eduardo (Rick Malambri) was in dire condition after his car “accident.” To make things even more complicated, Thayer (Christian Alexander) decided to stick around and look out for Mads (Alice Greczyn), while Laurel (Allie Gonino) became desperate to lose her virginity to squatter boyfriend Justin (Randy Wayne.)

Then there’s Emma, who still mad at Ethan (Blair Redford) this week for overreacting to Sutton’s little sleepovers with Thayer — and Ethan punching Thayer was the last straw for Emma. She’s positive he’s still in love with Sutton!

Mads and Char (Kirsten Prout) became convinced there was something going on between Sutton and Eduardo, and their anger only increased after thinking Emma-as-Sutton also slept with Thayer. And speaking of mistaken identity, Sutton was accused of being Emma at the mental ward because, to be fair, she was in possession of Emma’s driver’s license. No one believed her when she tried to explain herself.

She did get meet their mom, Annie Hobbes, Only to have the woman claim that both her little girls died and to dismiss Sutton as merely a hallucination. The police then arrested Sutton for the Emma’s prior charge. (Remember that money she stole at the beginning of the season?)

Back in Phoenix, the Mercers discovered Justin and Laurel in bed together — so bad! — and Emma’s creepy foster brother Travis (Kenneth Miller) showed up at the Mercers’ house!

I think Alec (Adrian Pasdar) somehow caused the car accident. He hasn’t outright admitted to it, but he’s so slimy and possessive that I wouldn’t put it past him. Also, where is Thayer and Mads’ mom? The writers haven’t explained her absence yet, so far as I can remember — and it’s sort of suspicious.

I don’t blame Laurel for wanting to sleep with Justin. He is her boyfriend and he seems like a good guy, even if he did at first lie about his past. I thought her whole set-up for the big night was pretty cheesy, though. If I were him, that nightie and those candles would have turned me off! I wonder what the Mercers are going to think of him next episode after finding out his living situation.

As for Emma, she has a right to be mad at Ethan. He totally overreacted! I feel like half of his character growth consists of hitting people. He’s definitely slipping as a likeable character for me.

And Mads and Char are also justified in being angry with Emma-as-Sutton, since it is safe to assume she lied to their faces about sleeping with Thayer. I really think Emma should just tell them the truth about who she is. That would spare everyone so much pain — and time!

Alec was definitely involved in making Annie think that her daughters died. It was so sad when she refused to speak to Sutton! I hope the twins resolve matters with their mom in a later episode and that Sutton and Emma both end up all right. Emma should just say Travis is an intruder and have him taken away, since I doubt the Mercers will tolerate hearing the twin story — especially if it comes from some random boy.

On the Sept. 12 episode of The Lying Game, Emma (Alexandra Chando) decided not to go to homecoming because Laurel (Allie Gonino) was grounded, but ended up changing her mind when Char (Kirsten Prout) and Mads (Alice Greczyn) forced her to run for queen. And because Emma is such a good person, she convinced the Mercers to let Laurel go to the dance with Justin (Randy Wayne.) But the evening took an interesting turn when Emma discovered a picture of Mr. Mercer, Mr. Rybeck, and the twins’ birth mom from high school — together!

Meanwhile, Nisha (Sharon Pierre-Louis) revealed to Mr. Rybak that Eduardo (Rick Malambri) and Mads kissed, but got thrown off her pedestal when she lost her queendom to Emma. In two climactic ending scenes, Emma kissed Ethan (Blair Redford) in front of the entire school and we saw a shot of the twins’ mom in a hospital room painting a picture of a night sky — and two little girls.

I thought Emma handled the whole homecoming problem very well, as she successfully made everyone happy — even Ethan. I totally give her props for that. Sutton, on the other hand, is being so immature. She asked Emma to pretend to be her, so she had no right to be angry with Emma when she ran for homecoming queen, or even when she made out with her boyfriend. Emma’s just following orders — from a girl she barely knows, no less.

Sutton’s also abusing her relationship with Thayer (Christian Alexander) by kissing him out of envy. She’s already been awful to Ethan by not telling her friends about him. I’m surprised he could stand that kind of behavior for so long. She’s so catty!

As usual, Mr. Rybak is being a freak. He’s so possessive of Mads, and I hope Eduardo tells her everything he heard when he was hiding in her closet! He really gives me the chills whenever he’s on screen or even when he speaks. (Such a creeper!) I thought it was weird he didn’t chastise Eduardo after receiving the picture. I guess he has some secret up his sleeve that he wants Eduardo to be part of.

And after seeing the secret picture, I’m really starting to think Mr. Rybak is Sutton and Emma’s dad. He seemed to be pretty friendly with Annie Hobbs in the photo, and maybe he’s trying to keep some scandal from leaking out. Obviously, that can’t be the whole mystery but that idea may be the start of something bigger. I’m also getting more curious about what The Lying Game actually is.

That’s the title, but we’re on the fifth episode and it still hasn’t been explained.
