Tom Skleton claims he gave his sons to an underground organization to protect them from their ‘abusive’ mother, but chilling new information suggests they may not be found alive.

Tom Skelton pleaded no contest to three counts unlawful imprisonment on July 28 and faces 15 years in jail. In court, the judge revealed Skelton’s internet records show he searched for information about how to break a neck a week before his sons vanished. How awful. This sounds like the Casey Anthony case all over again!

Judge Margaret Noe also revealed Skelton had told investigators: “The children will hibernate until they graduate.”

Skelton initially claimed he gave Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner, 5, to a friend, called Joann, who he met online. After investigators cleared Joann of any involvement, Tom changed his story and said he gave the boys to an “organization.”

He alleged their mom Tanya was abusive and he feared she’d harm their sons– claims Tanya strongly denies.

She’s still hoping she’ll find Andrew, Alexander and Tanner — but the family is beginning to fear the worst and that Tom Skelton will cheat justice.

Family spokeswoman Kathye Herrera says, “The family supports all the decisions made by law enforcement.’

“There is a sense of discouragement that John will not get the sentence he deserves… This will not be over until the boys are home.”

Tom Skelton will be sentenced on September 15.

Three young Michigan brothers, who vanished the day after Thanksgiving, are still missing. But Tanya Skelton, the mother of Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7 and Tanner, 5, has yet to give up hope that they will be found. “In my heart, I feel that they are still alive, and I just am waiting for the right clue or tip to come in, or for their father to finally decide to tell who he gave the children to,” Tanya, 44, says in an interview with People magazine. We can only pray that the three boys will be returned home to their heartbroken mother.

The three boys disappeared after their father John Skelton, who planned on committing suicide, claimed to hand them off to a friend, Joann Taylor, who he met online. He said he did that to keep them out of harm’s way. After investigators cleared Joann of any involvement, John changed his story and said he gave the boys to an “organization.” Since then he’s kept quiet and has been safely guarded by his lawyer. After investigating different leads, Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks announced on Nov. 30 that police are not expecting a positive outcome in this case. But, even so, Tanya isn’t giving up on her kids. We don’t blame her. HollyMoms, would you hold on to hope, too?

Search continues for the missing boys

After the boys disappearance, Tanya had to spend two days in the hospital because her blood pressure skyrocketed. She explains, “When I finally came back to the world, it wasn’t with thoughts that they were gone but that they are alive and I need to find them.” Tanya believes that John, the devoted father and nonviolent man she lived with for 10 years, could never harm their children, let alone kidnap or kill them. She thinks that John isn’t talking because he’s protecting the person who has the boys and believes that individual is being careful not to let the boys be seen together because police are looking for three brothers. “They’re going to bring them out one at a time,” she says.

While Tanya doesn’t think John’s a threat, she did notice his odd behavior around September when he decided to take the boys to Florida, saying he wanted to relocate there. Tanner was so scared that he stayed behind with Tanya while Andrew and Alexander went with their father. When John failed to bring her two boys home, she had to go to court to get him to come back to Michigan. Tanya then filed for divorce but went to counseling with John in hopes of keeping their family together.

“I wanted it to work,” she says, “I wanted that happy family of five again.” When John asked to have the kids on Thanksgiving, Tanya didn’t realize she would never see their faces again.”The deeper and longer it goes the more I realize this isn’t the man I fell in love with. I should be tucking my boys into bed and reading them stories, and not lying awake at night thinking about what happened. It’s so hard that we’re coming up on two months and nobody is coming forward. It’s hard – and it hurts.” HollyMoms, can you even begin to imagine what this woman is going through? It’s one of those cases where no news is definitely not good news. A week after their father claimed to give them to a friend he met online for safe keeping, the three Skelton brothers, Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner, 5, are still missing. As hundreds of volunteers throughout southern Michigan and northern Ohio continue to look for the three brothers, an anonymous donor has offered a reward of $10,000 to anyone who can supply information that will safely return the boys home (the reward will be nullified if the person claiming it had anything to do with the boys’ disappearance).

Meanwhile, the boys’ mother, Tanya Skelton, 44, who filed for divorce from John Skelton, 39, in September, hopes against all odds that her boys will be found alive.”We know how hard everyone has been working,” said family spokesperson Kathye Herrera, a friend of Tanya’s. Reading from a prepared statement, Herrera referred to Tanya’s sons as “our precious little boys.”

John Skelton was planning to commit suicide by hanging himself and didn’t want the boys to see it, so he told authorities that he had turned them over to Joann Taylor, a woman he met online. Authorities have cleared her of any involvement, but have charged John with parental kidnapping and have jailed him on a $3 million bond. In the boys’ hometown of Morenci, Michigan, police chief Larry Weeks, who is coordinating the search, confirmed that Skelton has provided some information to authorities, but that they have not spoken with him in several days and that he is now asking for a lawyer.

While the search for the boys continues, though, coordinators of the search have discussed the possibility of suspending it for the weekend while they reevaluate their options. That doesn’t mean, however, that volunteers will stop looking.

“We will not be satisfied until our boys are home,” Morenci mayor Keith Pennington said yesterday (December 2). Tim Beck, of nearby Archbold, will also keep looking, because he has a 10-year-old daughter and knows how Tanya feels.

“You’ve got to have closure,” he said, while also mentioning that he had taken a week off work to hunt deer, but had spent most of his time searching for the boys. “That’s why we’re looking — for the mom’s sake.”

And even as the clock keeps ticking and the boys still haven’t been found, we can continue to hope for the best.
