Every CWoud has a silver lining, and this one’s shining on Matt Lanter! Less than a week after The CW announced that 90210 will end its five-season run May 13, HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site Deadline is reporting that Matt has been cast on The CW pilot Oxygen.

Matt will play Roman, one of nine aliens secretly integrated into a suburban high school. (That’s right, they’re making him play a teenager again.) Friday Night Lights‘ Aimee Teegarden will play Emery, a human teenager who falls in love with Roman — as if you didn’t see that coming.

90210 fans should appreciate the irony of Matt playing an alien on Oxygen, as Liam played an alien hunter in the hilariously bad Corporate Invaders franchise. 90210 fans should also enjoy that Aimee appeared on the show’s first season as Rhonda, a nut job who feuded with Annie (Shenae Grimes) over Ethan (Dustin Milligan).

My Take On ‘Oxygen’

I’ll admit, I didn’t take too much notice of this potential series until I learned that Matt — who I hope and pray will return to his former longer/side-swept-haired glory — had been cast as the lead. But now that I’m giving it a thorough once-over, I’m actually pretty pumped.

The CW seems to be all about pairing human girls with supernatural brooders these days — see The Vampire Diaries and Beauty & The Beast — but it’s clearly a winning formula, as both series have solid followings.

Aimee Teegarden held her own against an army of Texan footballers — now let’s see how well can fare in hand-to-hand combat! TVLine reports that Friday Night Lights‘ own Julie Taylor has snagged the lead role in The CW’s The Selection, which Hunger Games fans will definitely want to DVR if it gets picked up for the fall. Set 300 years in the future, the show tells the story of a poor girl (Aimee) who is selected to compete to become the “queen” of a war-torn country. (Sound familiar… ish?)

Of course, this won’t be the first time we’ve seen Aimee grace The CW. 90210 fans should remember her less-than-fondly as Rhonda, the crazy chick who tried to steal Ethan (Dustin Milligan) away from Annie (Shenae Grimes) after she was involved in a car crash during the show’s first season.

(Seriously, what’s up with Aimee’s characters always getting into car accidents?)

HollywoodLife.com spoke to Aimee Teegarden and Michael B. Jordan on the red carpet of the Emmys and while Aimee is all for a big screen continuation of their show, Michael isn’t!

Aimee Teegarden and Michael B. Jordan aren’t on the same page when it comes to a Friday Night Lights film, Hollywoodlife.com learned at the Emmys!

“You know, I think if it happened, it would be great. It would be such a fun thing to do. But you know, we’ll see!” Aimee told us.

But Michael sang a different tune! “I don’t know, I think sometimes it might be too soon. At the end of the day, we went out with a bang. We’re going out on top right now as far as with the Emmy nominations. Me personally? I’d leave it alone.”

Aimee Teegarden looked amazing at the ‘Prom’ premiere! Would you wear her look to your prom?

Aimee Teegarden, 21, glowed at the premiere of Walt Disney Pictures’ Prom on April 21 in LA. Shimmering in bronze makeup and just a hint of bright pink, she looked perfect for walking both the red carpet — and prom night!

Why this works: Aimee is beautiful and doesn’t need a lot of makeup to look glamorous. She wore a neutral smokey-eye and bronzer so that the the focus was on her bright pink lips!

1. Put on a liquid foundation all over your face.

2. Dust on some bronzer on your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin.

3. Apply a light-brown eyeshadow on your brow bones, then blend in a taupe-brown eyeshadow on your eyelids.

4. Add a dark brown eyeshadow at your eye crease and blend.

5. Draw a thick line on your eyelids and bring it upwards toward the corner for a catty smokey-eye.

6. Swipe on mascara on your top and bottom lashes.

7. Using a lip brush, apply a shiny pink lipstick to seal the look!

Animated birds smack down the slasher squeal — and it’s not even close!

The Scream 4 cast of Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Hayden Panettiere,  Neve Campbell, Emma Roberts and Aimee Teegarden were no match for the tropical birds of Rio!

The cartoon about world’s last two blue macaws  – with the voices of Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway – got much more attention from movie fans on its opening weekend than the latest installment of the Scream series.

Rio took in $40 million, the movie world’s biggest opening weekend of the year, continuing the trend of family-friendly movies leading the way for 2011. Scream 4 brought in only $19.3 million — far below what had been expected!

Hop, another animated family flick that had won the box-office race for the previous two weeks, was third this weekend at $11.2 million. Rio‘s opening even topped Rango, the animated feature starring Johnny Depp, which had been the year’s biggest debut.

Tough economic times may mean that families that may not have enough cash for big vacations can afford a night out together at the movies — as long as there’s a flick everyone will want to see!

Television’s best show kicks off its final season (for the second time) by saying goodbye to two of its biggest characters — get out the handkerchiefs!

The fifth, and final, season of Friday Night Lights started right off with goodbyes. After watching her grow up and struggle with life in Dillon, Texs, our very own Julie Taylor (Aimee Teegarden) is finally heading off to college — much to the dismay of her parents Eric (Kyle Chandler) and Tammy (Connie Britton), who isn’t even allowed to drive her to school. Instead we have to watch as the normally stoic Coach and his wife both choke back tears as their eldest daughter drives off alone into the sunset. Break out the Kleenex kids.

Julie wasn’t the only one heading off for higher learning though as after a quick stop by Grandma Saracen’s (Louanne Stephens), a sparsely attended Crucifictorus concert, and one delightful lap dance from new friend Candy, resident braniac Landry Clarke (Jesse Plemons) was headed off to Rice — “the Harvard of the south.”

We also got to visit the always amusing and never frowning Tim Riggins (Taylor Kitsch) who has now become emotionless and vacant after just a few months in prison. Watching the always exuberant Tim stare blankly as brother Billy (Derek Phillips) showed off photos of his son got the waterworks going a mere two minutes into the episode.

Then there were the girls of Dillon, who are now having to do everything on their own. Becky (Madison Burges) is stuck with her wicked stepmother and never home father while mom is away working on a casino boat while Jess (Jurnee Smollett) is forced to raise her younger brothers as dad is off opening BBQ franchises in Dallas. It seems like this plot development is more a result of Steve Harris and Alicia Witt‘s lack of availability, but both girls play their situations so well it works perfectly.

The real focus of the episode though was, as always, the Taylor family. Watching the always amazing Connie Brittion as she fought with her daughter about not wanting to stay and eat peach cobbler with the family and Kyle Chandler challenge Julie to one last ping pong match were the highlights of the episode. Television’s two best actors were at the top of their games this week, as if they’re ever not, and let’s pray they finally, FINALLY, get those Emmy Awards that are so overdue.

It is bittersweet knowing we have only nine more episodes of television’s most consistent, brilliantly acted, and perfectly written show, which has been saved from cancellation more times than we can count. Coach Taylor seemed to sum up our feelings perfectly as he looked at the breakfast table days before Julie headed to college : “I’m gonna miss this.”
