You might need to break out the tissues for this one. Just two months ago, young Aidan was just a normal 5-year-old boy. That all changed, though, when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and suddenly he was fighting for his life and his family was trying to figure out how they would be able to afford to pay for his very expensive treatment. They faced having to sell their house. Thinking fast, Aidan’s dad, Wylie, set up an Etsy shop online and started selling the pictures Aidan drew of monsters. Now, just two months later, Aidan’s Monsters have saved the family’s finances and might also have saved Aidan’s life.

A few days before Halloween, just six weeks after the diagnosis, Aidan’s family posted a note on their blog, Aid For Aidan, announcing that the combination of financial aid and well wishes from hundreds of people has made a huge difference. “The response and support our family has received is simply amazing,” the note said. “The family had considered the sale of their home, and Aidan’s father began to look for a 2nd job to offset the impact of the additional medical expense.

“While the donations and financial support have been an amazing blessing,” the note continues, “we would like to especially thank everyone for all of the letters and support. Your words have been uplifting and inspiring to the entire family. Your words and support for Aidan have helped us in ways unimaginable. Aidan has been drawing more than ever, and we do our best to share all of your words with him. Your support has been keeping Aidan’s and our family’s spirits up. Again, we sincerely thank you for this.”
