Politician Michele Bachmann, who admits she’s “100 percent pro-life,” revealed the heartbreaking news that she suffered a miscarriage after an unplanned pregnancy. But the “devastating” loss inspired her to foster 23 children and refocus her life. And now look — she’s running for President!

In a town hall in Rock Hill, South Carolina on Wednesday (June 29), Michele, 55, discussed the miscarriage and her stance on abortion. She and her husband Marcus already had two children at the time of the loss and came to welcome three more of their own afterward. Not to mention the 23 foster kids, all teenage girls, who each stayed with the Bachmanns for a few months.

The experience led her to believe that “no matter how many children were brought into our life, we would receive them because we are committed to life.”

Bachmann has been compared to former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin, who also has five kids of her own – Track, 23, Bristol, 21, Willow, 16, Piper, 10, and Trig, 2 — and is staunchly pro-life.

Michele even discussed how the media would love to see her and arch-rival Palin, “mud wrestle,” adding, “And I’m not going to give it to ‘em. I have great respect and admiration for the Governor.”

A new study shows that Americans who have seen these MTV shows are more likely to believe that abortion should be legalized. What do YOU think?

Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant may not only be entertaining, but could be influencing some Americans’ political opinions! Reports on a poll done by the Public Religion Research Institute present some interesting facts behind the correlation between these MTV shows and the abortion issue. What’s your stance?

“Americans who have seen MTV’s shows Teen Mom or 16 and Pregnant are significantly more likely than the general public to say that abortion should be legal in all or most cases (65% vs. 56% of the public) and to say that having an abortion is morally acceptable (48% vs. 40% of the public),” a reporter from Feminists of Choice quotes from the Public Religion Research Institute‘s study.

Although Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant don’t necessarily discuss the issue of abortion openly and vehemently, the reporter adds that instead, they “may have helped Americans recognize just how difficult a choice parenthood can be — and how vital it is that other choices be accessible as well.”

When other young women or men see these girls and single moms in not-so-ideal situations, struggling to stay afloat while supporting not only themselves but their families, their view on parenthood changes.

But what we need to remember is that as enjoyable as these shows are to watch, it is not as enjoyable for the people you are watching. And with Amber Portwood‘s alleged suicide attempt this week and Jenelle Evans‘ 30 day stint in rehab, this point is truly apparent.

A writer from Slate explains, “The shows themselves have real social benefits, but starring on these shows can be pretty terrible.”

“We hold up ‘fallen’ women as cautionary tales so that others will know not to follow their wanton paths,” she adds. “But being propped up as the fallen woman is never very much fun.”

It’s interesting that Teen Mom is helping promote reproductive rights and views, but we must remember that these girls are sharing their real-life stories and are obviously feeling the effect of sharing their experiences, while dealing with the fame that comes with it.

“If it was abortion, then my purpose is to try to prevent this from happening to someone else. I just wanted to shed the light on pro-life issues and fathers’ rights. I have had no closure over my own personal loss and that’s where the billboard came into play.”

His poor ex! What on earth was she doing with him in the first place!

In a shocking confession, E! star, Chelsea Handler opens up about her own personal ordeal with teen pregnancy and the choice that changed her life. What’s your take on the Teen Mom issue?

“People are too P.C.,” Chelsea, 36, tells the New York Times. “We need to be focusing on other things. We’re seeking out such grossness in human behavior and want such mindless entertainment. ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ and some of these other shows are more racist. Or ‘16 and Pregnant.’ Getting rewarded for being pregnant when you’re a teenager? Are you serious? I mean, that makes me want to kill somebody.”

Chelsea knows this situation personally, confessing that she was a pregnant teen who decided to take the route she obviously believes in — pro-choice.

“I had an abortion when I was 16. Because that’s what I should have done,” Chelsea blantantly states, obviously slamming with the whole 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom world.

“Otherwise I would now have a 20-year-old kid. Anyway, those are things that people shouldn’t be dishonest about it.”

Why does this British mom-of-two think the next time will be different for her? Read on to learn about her plan…

Claire Barwell terminated pregnancies in 2007 and February 2011 — because she couldn’t handle the crippling and severe nausea that caused her to vomit up to 40 times a day!

She suffered during four pregnancies from hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), which causes severe nausea. Sufferers are typically unable to eat or drink. Claire battled through the condition to deliver daughter Bethany, 10, and Abbey, 6. But when she fell pregnant in 2006, she was terrified.

Her marriage to her first husband was in trouble and she was unable to cope with the sickness without his support, so she reluctantly underwent an abortion after 12 weeks. “I felt so dreadful that I just wanted to get it over and done with,” she says. “I didn’t feel happy about it, but the decision was clear in my mind…Afterwards I was crippled with guilt. I felt desperately low. It was not something I was proud of at all.”

Claire, met second husband David just 6 months after the abortion. Despite her bad experiences, the couple were both keen to have kids together and were thrilled when Claire became pregnant in December 2010 – but the symptoms quickly returned, worse than ever.

“I was bed-bound, sick and drowning in misery. I remember thinking: ‘How can I survive like this for another seven months? I rang David in hysterics. I told him I wanted the baby, but couldn’t go on like that.”

Unable to cope, she took the decision to abort the baby. But amazingly, the four horrifying experiences haven’t put Claire off trying again.

She reveals she’s “desperate” to get pregnant again, insisting it’s “the only thing that keeps me going.” And she has recruited her sister to help her stay strong and resist the temptation to terminate again: ”If I become pregnant, my twin Suzanne has agreed I can stay with her, as only she really understands how bad things can get.”

Despite criticism from pro-life campaigners for her decision to terminate her babies, experts are weighing in on Claire’s side — insisting HG is a misunderstood condition. “far more serious than anyone realizes,” explains pregnancy psychologist Dr. Brian Swallow. ”Women consistently say they feel quite alone because there is insufficient help. Morning sickness is just seen as something women have to put up with.”

New guidelines from doctors in England persuades women to have abortions. Are they serious!?

18 senior gynecologists, nurses and abortion providers from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London have released new advice saying that pregnant women should be told that having an abortion is safer than delivering a baby. The guidelines also say that “the great majority” of women who terminate their pregnancy will not suffer from psychological problems, like sadness or regret, following the procedure. Hmm, this sounds pretty sketchy to us.

The guideline is still in draft form, but has already horrified medical ethicists and Christian groups, who believe it is forcing an “absurdly liberal agenda” on women facing a tough situation. On the other side though, abortion clinics are obviously supporting the advice and are aiming it at doctors, nurses and counselors who deal with terminations on a daily basis.

“Asking this group to comment objectively and honestly about the physical and psychological consequences of abortion for women is like asking Philip Morris or British American Tobacco to review the health consequences of smoking or McDonald’s to outline the adverse effects of fast food consumption,” Dr. Peter Saunders, of the Christian Medical Fellowship, says, accusing the RCOG of ‘perpetuating a myth’ about the safety of abortion. “There are simply too many financial and ideological vested interests at stake that threaten a fair assessment.”

Other experts say that this “guidance” takes a pro-abortion stance and forgets to truly look into the psychological damage women face after undergoing a termination, specifically the feeling of guilt. ‘The message this sends out is very worrying,” Professor Patricia Casey, a consultant psychiatrist and fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, says. ‘There are more than 30 studies showing an association between psychological trauma and abortion.”

The medical show actress joins with Moveon.org take on national Republican legislation in a dramatic new ad  — “We Won’t Go Back.”

Republican-sponsored legislation in Washington aims to severely limit access to abortion, and now the liberal activist group MoveOn.org is firing back. In a new controversial and political ad, House actress Lisa Edelstein stands up for the “Right to Choose” with this demand:  ”Don’t send women back to the back alley.” How do you feel about bills that would limit reproductive rights?

Pregnant woman mistakenly given abortion drug by her pharmacist!

In the TV spot, Lisa, dressed in 50s-style clothing, walks down a hallway towards a door. “Decades ago, women suffered through horrifying back alley abortions. Or, they used dangerous methods when they had no other recourse,” she narrates. “So when the Republican Party launched an all-out assault on women’s health, pushing bills to limit access to vital services, we had to ask — Why is the GOP trying to send women back … to the back alley?” Lisa then opens a closed door and reaches for a wire coat hanger.

“I decided to do this ad because I believe that every woman needs to know the grave danger that women’s reproductive rights are facing in Congress right now,” Lisa tells RadarOnline.com. “I hope that women across America tell Congress that these bills are an attack on women’s health and that they are unacceptable.”

The ad with Lisa, who plays Dr. Cuddy on the hit Fox show, is set to run for a week on cable outlets.

This is the mother of all mix-ups. Six weeks pregnant Mareena Silva of Colorado claims that a pharmacist at Safeway grocery store in her hometown of Fort Lupton gave her an abortion drug rather than the antibiotic she was prescribed. Now, she, as well as doctors are concerned that the pill will cause her to miscarry. How does this even happen? So horrible. HollyMoms, what would you do?

Mareena, 19, took methotrexate, which is used in chemotherapy and also to terminate early-stage pregnancies. Mareena only took one pill, but after feeling sick, she was rushed to the emergency room, where it was discovered she was given the wrong medication. Doctors say that she may either miscarry the baby or have a child born with birth defects. There is no good news in this situation. And all because a pharmacist didn’t do her job correctly.

“We have extended our sincere apologies to Ms. Silva and offered to pay any medical expenses incurred as a result of the prescription error,” Safeway said in a statement. “We understand the anxiety this has caused and the difficulty of Ms. Silva’s situation.”

Another woman kills her child — what is making these mothers snap?

Safeway’s statement also explained that pharmacy’s policies and procedures were not followed and that the company is redoubling efforts to make sure this kind of medical error never happens again. Those policies include asking a patient twice his/her full name and double-checking their date of birth.

Mareena has moved out of her apartment and is not answering media questions at this time due to advice from her attorney. HollyMoms, what would you do if you were facing this situation?
