Josh & Anna Duggar Welcome Third Child

Once again Josh and Anna have chosen a name that begins with M, and he was born weighing 9 pounds and 3 ounces.

“We are so excited to announce the arrival of our third child, Marcus Anthony Duggar,” Josh and Anna told the TODAY Show. “Mackynzie and Michael are thrilled to welcome a little brother and we are so thankful that mom and baby are well! We are blessed to have our family close as we celebrate this gift from God!”

Josh, 25, is the oldest of Jim Bob and Michelle‘s 19 kids, and now they can add another grandchild to the brood.

Josh & Anna Announce Pregnancy On ’19 Kids & Counting’

On the April 2 episode of the show, Josh and Anna told their family that they are expecting. Anna decided to throw a huge surprise dinner for the entire family — 19 kids and all, and she surprised them by carving a baby carriage into a pumpkin!

And on the June 16 premiere on the new season, fans can watch Anna give birth to Marcus!

Before Jim Bob Duggar and Josh Duggar‘s final weight loss was revealed, the family had to participate in a relay race. Plus, Josh and his wife Anna Duggar made the decision to actually leave the family nest.

The Duggars were divided into two teams — the Jim Bob team and the Josh team. The two teams had to go through a crazy, complicated relay race, which included rock climbing, eating pickles, tire rolling, diaper changing and water jug racing.

So who won? Jim Bob! “It was such a thrill of victory!” He said, and tried to make Josh and his team feel better when he announced, “we are all winners!”

Jim Bob & Josh’s Final Weigh In

Even though Jim Bob won the obstacle course, Josh lost more weight in their final weigh-in. Jim Bob originally weighed 211lbs, and lost 13 pounds in the weight loss challenge. Meanwhile, Josh originally weighed 216lbs and lost 14 pounds!

Because Jim Bob won the obstacle course  Josh had to serve him breakfast in bed the following morning. So what did he serve? Turkey bacon, eggs, dry toast and his “world-famous smoothie” — a healthy meal option!

“This is a meal fit for a king!” a still sleeping Jim Bob said, and added that he is committed to staying on a healthy way of living and eating.

“In the next month, I want to loss another 10-15lbs,” he revealed.

Josh & Anna Are Moving To Washington D.C.

In a surprising twist, Josh had all the family members sit down for his ultra-special announcement — he and Anna are for sure relocating to Washington D.C. in the next couple of months! And the other part of their big news is the reveal of their baby’s gender — they are having a boy!

After hearing the news, Jim Bob asked all the family members to pray for Josh and Anna, and their decision. It will be a big change for them, but they are good, strong people — we’re sure they’ll love D.C.!

Josh & Anna Think About Moving To DC

Josh was offered a job to move to Washington DC, but he and Anna aren’t sure if moving to such a big city would be the right move for them. They weight the pros and cons, some of the major cons being they would be so far away from their family — with whom they are super close.

They meet up with Jim Bob and Anna to talk about and pray over the decision, but it’s clear Jim Bob doesn’t want them to be so far away. He worries about his grandkids not even knowing their grandparents! Plus, DC is “a very populated place,” Jim Bob says, and important life aspects like church and family are most important — and are in Arkansas.

Jill & Jana Deliver Baby Samuel & He’s Rushed To The Hospital

Jill and Jana help deliver baby Samuel during a home birth through their midwifery apprenticeship, but something isn’t right with the little bundle of joy. They notice there’s a defect in his umbilical cord, which is similar to a hernia, and they call 911 right away. He’s rushed to the hospital, but luckily everything is fine! Mom and baby are happy and healthy, and he didn’t have any lasting effects from the birth defects.

Samuel’s parents say Jill and Jana were amazing during the delivery, and that they definitely have a future as midwives!

Meet Up With Joseph After Rescue Training

After Joseph has been in International ALERT Academy for rescue training, they finally get to visit him and see everything he has learned in training. Joseph won an award for scripture reading, and the family couldn’t be more proud — but they have to wait anxiously until they can even say hi or give him a hug!

While he’s in line with all of his other trainees, Jim Bob shouts at him and tries to get him to smile. He cracks a smile, but still keeps his composure — he’s a true professional! The family gets to see all of the skills he learned, and after a long day of ceremonies and watching their son, they finally get to give him a hug and take him home!

Josh & Anna Visit Her Family In Florida

Even though the Duggars are all one tight-knit family, Anna is close with her parents and siblings too — she just can’t see them as often since they live all the way in Florida! She wants her kids to spend as much time with her parents as they do with their Duggar grandparents, so a family visit is much overdue.

Plus, Anna can bond with her older sister, who just had a baby! Even though Anna is younger, she is giving advice to her older sis, and telling her the ins-and-outs of motherhood. Since Anna is pregnant with her third child, she’s pretty experienced! Anna says the first six weeks of your baby’s life is like “parenting boot camp.” Meanwhile, the boys have a blast driving four-wheelers around!

Josh & Jim Bob Have A Check-Up On Their Weight-Loss Progress

Just weeks after their initial physical and weight-loss journey, Jim Bob and Josh are back at the doctor’s office. They have seen significant progress in their overall health, and the doctor is impressed! Their times and heart rate levels on the treadmill test are noticeably better.

They just can’t wait until the final workout and weight-in with their trainer!

Duggar Household Full For Dinner

The family also invites Pastor Howard over for dinner, so the Duggars have a packed house. With so many people coming over and so many kids, Michelle and the girls are super stressed to get enough food together for everyone!  It’s a lot of work to get all of the food and preparations in order, but they pull it off — and everyone has a great time.

Joseph is still in emergency rescue training, and the family goes to check on how he is — and he’s totally thriving! With Joseph gone, Michael can finally move into his own room, and he loves it.

Josh and Anna Duggar Find Out Their Baby’s Gender

Jim and Anna Duggar choose crew member Jim to be in charge of knowing the baby’s gender and keeping it a secret. The couple wants to find out their baby’s sex later! Josh and Anna go in for their ultrasound, and the ultrasound technician finds out the gender of the baby — but hands off the results to Jim, where he will keep them until the couple decides to find out in the final reveal.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar want to take some time to reconnect in their relationship, so they embark on a marriage retreat to Puerto Rico. Not only is the scenery beautiful, but the couple perform exercises to help strengthen their already strong marriage.

Jim Bob & Michelle Reconnect In Puerto Rico

It seems the biggest issue Michelle wants to work on in their relationship is making sure Jim Bob actually listens and pays attention to her. They each perform trust exercises one-on-one with the counselor individually as well as couples chat sessions. Jim Bob does a bending rebar exercise, and learns that letting go of fear — as in letting go of the fear that the bar will impale your throat and kill you — is similar to moving forward in a relationship.

Their relationship may seem perfect on the outside, but even the Duggars have their struggles, and they said that losing their daughter Jubilee, whom Michelle miscarried, was the hardest part of their marriage. They emotionally revealed that they worked hard to move past it and be there for each other, and they hope this retreat strengthens their bond.

Older Duggar Girls Talk Dating & Boys

The older Duggar girls have been taking care of the younger kids while their parents are out, but they were invited to speak at a birthday party that they couldn’t turn down. Luckily Grandma Duggar and Josh’s wife Anna are on hand to help out with the kids while Jana, Jill, Jinger and Jessa, speak at the birthday party for a group of teenage girls. Instead of lecturing them, the appearance had more of a girl-talk feel, and the Duggars each talked about their thoughts on dating and talking to boys.

They revealed that they considering dating as one thing only, and that’s for the purpose to find a husband. As of right now, no one is involved in a courtship, but they are “observing” boys in their school, and deciding on what traits they want in a husband.  Overall, they wanted to let the girls at the party know that there’s no shame in waiting on dating, and they should respect themselves enough to be picky with their boyfriends.

Jim Bob & Michelle Snorkel In Street Clothes

In an exciting adventure for the couple, they go snorkeling in the ocean to discover the beautiful marine life. There’s a marriage lesson in there somewhere — something about how there’s always beauty underneath the surface if you’re willing to look for it — but the actual day trip and spending time together was also warm bonding experience.

The Duggars took to the water in what made them comfortable, which was regular street clothes instead of swimwear — Jim Bob in jean cut-offs, and Michelle in a dress. Although it looked incredibly heavy, they were able to swim around and explore all of the beautiful ocean life.

A few days later, they venture even further outside of their comfort zone with a zipline tour! They were scared to death, but all of their adventures brought them closer than ever.

The Duggar family had to say goodbye to Joseph Duggar who celebrated his 18th birthday in combination with a touching going away party. And the battle of the bulge continued between Jim Bob Duggar, 47, and his eldest son Josh Duggar, 25.!

Joseph Duggar’s Buzz Cut, Birthday & Farewell Party

Young Joseph is getting ready to attend the International ALERT Team in Big Sandy, Texas, where he will train for nine whole weeks. ALERT stands for Air Land Emergency Rescue Team. Prior to leaving, mom Michelle Duggar gives him a haircut as the younger kids watch on. However, what started out as a haircut ends up as a buzz cut! But his adoring younger sisters all agree that “he looks great”.

Michelle and Jim Bob decide to have a huge birthday celebration for Joseph and combine it with a going away party. Family and friends take turns on the mic describing how proud they are of Joseph.

Jim Bob Gains Weight & Gets An Unexpected Visitor

Meanwhile, trainer Steve Conley made a surprise visit to the Duggar home for “a pantry inspection”. He wasn’t too happy about Jim Bob’s caramel flavored coffee on the shelves and questioned him about his eating habits. Jim Bob promises to be more “faithful in his diet” after he discovers that he has gained 4lbs after Steve puts him on the scale. Steve punished Jim Bob by making him work out extra hard and congratulated Josh for sticking to his diet.

John-David–The Pilot

John-David,23, has been learning how to fly airplanes and his dad thinks it’s a swell idea to have him, along with his flight instructor, fly Joseph to his boot camp. As the four men get into the small aircraft, the family says goodbye and little Jennifer Duggar,5, says goodbye to her big brother in her own special way…”See you soon baboon”.

Jill and Jana Duggar are really taking to their midwifery apprenticeship seriously, and have learned so much from their hands-on experience — they are finally called to help deliver the baby for their client Heather!

Jana & Jill Help Deliver A Baby

Jana and Jill get calls that Heather went into full labor, and they are needed right away to help deliver their baby. Although Heather is wanting a natural delivery without medicine, her pain reaches a level 10 right as she is dilated and about to welcome the baby. Luckily her husband Alden remains cool, calm and collected, and they deliver a healthy baby girl!

Despite all of the screams and palpabale agony from delivery, the Duggar girls are not discouraged from continuing to study midwifery — which is amazing, because someone has to do it!

Josh & Jim Bob Train With A Personal Trainer

Meanwhile, Josh and Jim Bob Duggar are continuing with their workout routine in an effort to get fit and drop some pounds. They have been logging some serious hours with their personal trainer Steve Conley, who is a former NFL player and doesn’t mess around. He pushes them to their fullest, even though they are both incredibly out of shape.

Josh even admits he has poor form and his body doesn’t know how to be athletic most of the time, and Jim Bob says his favorite part of the workouts is sitting in between sets! But they keep working hard, and hopefully will only improve.

Duggar Boys Plant A Greenhouse

As the Duggar boys (with help from the girls) built a greenhouse to grow some plants and fresh produce, Michelle Duggar incorporated the greenhouse and growing seeds into their homeschooling and  daily bible lesson. The kids think it’s fun to take what they’ve learned in the classroom and incorporate it in the real world — and they are having a blast growing their own plants! Hopefully, the fresh produce will help their family with their new diet.

Jessa & Jinger Volunteer At A Coffe Shop

Jessa and Jinger decide to volunteer at a local coffee shop called Mama Carmen’s Cafe, in order to raise money to donate to an orphanage in Guatamala. Although the girls are stoked to volunteer for a good cause, they have to get to work at 5:30 a.m. — not their cup of Joe!

While volunteering, the girls learn so much more about being a barista than they thought — they learn to make all kinds of coffee drinks, smoothies, teas and how to use the cash register. The manager even said their friendly personality and manners makes them appealing to customers  and has helped them earn business!

It’s fun for them too — Jinger loves coffee and gets the shakes from so much caffeinne, and cute boys come in to flirt with them. But Jim Bob warns that any boys who want to talk to his girls must come through him first!

Finally, the whole Duggar clan comes in and orders all at once, and the girls can actually handle all of their drinks — so many at one time! At the end, they count up how much money they’ve raised, and it’s a grand total of $1,010.41 for charity.

After Josh Duggar married his wife Anna Duggar in 2008, he has noticed that he and his bride have both gained some weight — about an extra dress size each year over the past four years. But while Anna has been pregnant three separate times, Josh’s added pounds are due solely to an unhealthy lifestyle, and he knows he needs to make a change.

Josh & Anna Duggar Need To Shed The Newlywed Pounds

Josh even says he has gotten comments from people who have noticed his weight gain, and compared to photos of when Josh and Anna first started dating, there’s a drastic difference. His dad Jim Bob Duggar could also stand to lose a few pounds, so both Duggar men agree to start on a healthy regimen – after they indulge in one “last meal” filled with fried delicacies.

Josh & Jim Bob Start Working Out (In Jeans?)

To work off their deep fried dinner, the Duggar men embark on their first intense workout together, and enlist the help of the rest of the family for moral support. And while Jim Bob is worn out halfway through and both are on the verge of quitting, Josh is motivated by the fact that he wants to be healthy for his kids, and be there in the long run!

The guys and their wives also clean out all of the junk food at their house, leaving just fresh fruits and veggies and healthy options. Although it’s harder for Jim Bob with so many kids and tasty treats, the two are committed to shedding the necessary pounds.

Duggar Men Get A Physical

While their weight-loss efforts are all well and good, they want to get checked out by a doctor before continuing with their regimen — and the results of both of their physicals are pretty shocking.

Jim Bob weighs 214 pounds, and his son weighed in at about 10 more pounds than him. The numbers on the scale are a huge wake-up call, but the rest of their stats are even more frightening. Josh is at a major risk for diabetes, and his BMI is in the obese range.

Jim Bob also can’t stay on the testing treadmill for very long, and both guys get lectured about how if they don’t change their lifestyles now, it’s only going to get worse — and they need to stop killing themselves with bad habits.

Anna’s Sister Priscilla Comes To Visit

To lighten the tension, Anna’s sister Priscilla comes in town, and she’s also expecting! She and her husband stay with Josh and Anna for a little bit, and the guys totally bro-out while the ladies chat about pregnancy and catch up on girl talk.

All four even go house hunting together since Josh and Anna are looking for a new pad for their extending family. Although they found some… interesting options, they weren’t satisfied with any houses they saw, especially since none were in their price range.
