Who among us doesn’t love working in our underwear? When MeUndies asked HollywoodLife to give their intimates a test run, our “lived in” reviewers, Olivia Elgart (OE), Robert Gonsalves (RG), Katrina Mitzeliotis (KM), and Trudi Roth (TR) jumped at the chance give our readers the inside scoop on “the world’s most comfortable underwear.” Here’s the naked truth from about MeUndies’ men’s and women’s underwear, t-shirts, and unisex lounge pants.
Before we start, did anyone else get a little giggly about reviewing MeUndies?
(RG): Maybe it’s a boy thing or a gender bias against guys for a change, but I never imagined talking about underwear with co-workers.
(KM): It’s definitely a little weird.
What did you think about the MeUndies website and ordering their products and special offers?
KM: I liked that they had a variety of styles, colors and prints. Although it was a little confusing that every pattern wasn’t available in every style.
RG: I was interested in the Design of the Month – I never thought about wearing not just solid colored underwear. For me it was a bit risqué and adventurous looking at the different patterns and trying to figure out what style brief I wanted (trunk, boxer, etc.).
(OE): I really liked that they had the packs of multiple pairs of undies.
(TR): Me, too. I’m so busy that when I find something I like, just send me ten of them and I’m happy.
What were your first impressions opening up your package from MeUndies?
TR: It comes in this sexy, slick black package – it’s still discrete, but it was fun coming home and finding that MeUndies envelope waiting for me.
KM: I thought they felt really soft and the colors were really vivid. I noticed how comfy they felt, with nice stretch, right out of the box.
RG: I have an aversion to polyester, probably having lived thru disco in the 70s. If something’s not cotton, it doesn’t go on my body. I didn’t know what modal fabric is, although they say it’s from beech trees, and if it’s natural or not. But it did feel soft and worth trying!
How about the first wearing? Was the underwear — as billed – “the world’s most comfortable underwear”?
OE: They were totally comfortable and they stayed in place nicely, which is always good when it comes to underwear.
KM: I agree. I also really liked the pattern and color options. I got solid, neutral colors that I can wear under anything, and the bright patterns are fun, too. The elastic was great – no pinching!
TR: Loved the feel and the comfort. Thongs can be butt stringy, which is NOT comfortable. The MeUndies thong sat perfectly on my body to a point where I forgot I was wearing anything after a few minutes. Ditto on the cheeky briefs.
RG: I fell in love with the designs – it was really fun to walk around knowing I had happy Keith Haring men under my pants (laughs).
What did you think about the lounge pants?
OE: I noticed the lounge pants right away – super comfy. I could easily imagine wearing them around the house or sleeping in them.
KM: The lounge pants really aren’t cute. I love them from a comfort standpoint, but my husband said they are not flattering on me.
TR: Yes to the feel of the lounge pants, no to MC Hammer style. Didn’t look good on me back in the ‘80s, not doing anything for me now. And I know that shouldn’t matter if it’s just to wear at home, but I have a tendency to wear my loungewear as normal clothes in the street.
RG: In defense of the bagginess of the lounge pants, I believe they are unisex, so they need to fit all shapes and sizes. Then again, they were too warm for me in California in the summer. Better if you live in a drafty house or cooler environment. If you want something cozy, they’re perfect. They were also a little too clingy on my calves. Although I do like the color I chose – vibrant purple.
How about the t-shirts?
TR: That was the one thing I would say was nothing special. Not in the same ballpark as the other things when it comes to comfort, either.
OE: I agree – I felt the t-shirt was too tight and constricting and not as soft.
How did everything hold up after washing and multiple wearings?
KM: If feel like the first wash is always make it or break it for intimates. I threw MeUndies in the wash with other colors and fabrics and didn’t take any special care. I was really impressed – the color stayed vivid, the fabric was consistently soft. There was no pilling. Also, for anyone using a commercial washing machine, like a college kid, MeUndies are hold up well.
RG: Agreed. “Lived in” gets a thumbs up from me!
What about the special purchasing options – lower per item costs in 3-, 6-, and 10-packs and subscriptions for a new pair of limited edition Design of the Month patterns?
TR: Definitely the packs make it more affordable, and I like the assortment you get. This would be my choice for convenience and savings on underwear.
OE: I feel like college kids are the perfect people for this – or anyone who hates doing laundry. The packs are a great deal.
RG: I think the subscription is fun, since you now know I’m into the Designs of the Month.
Final thoughts on MeUndies?
KM: Overall, a good selection and a lot of variety in color, although I’d love to see more designs. I liked how they stayed in the wash, especially since color fading and quality can be a problem with underwear. I would definitely recommend the products to a variety of people – it’s perfect for everyday wear.
RG: I never thought I’d feel this way about underwear! My wife and kids have had a good laugh at the designs I’ve been wearing. Briefs might be a fun thing to get at a bachelor party – do men do matching underwear?
OE: YAY on the comfort, but NAY on the designs. There’s nothing really girlie girl, which is what I like. I got some alien undies that I wouldn’t necessarily buy for myself.
TR: I like the Designs of the Month. The comfort of the undies and lounge pants was everything to me. Remind me not to wear the lounge pants out to dinner, though! Also I’m totally down with the convenience of clicking a button and getting underwear delivered to your doorstep. Now if I could only afford the 365 pair pack ($4,000 – gulp!) and put an end to laundry, we’d be in business.
