Syracuse won 95-91. Zion has been widely lauded as the best basketball player of his generation. From the age of nine he would wake up at 5 in the morning to practice the sport. His mother Sharonda Sampson coached him in leagues until he was 14 and entered high school. By his sophomore year he was 6’6″ and had already mastered the ability to dunk. He was offered scholarships to come play for numerous NCAA Division 1 teams in just his second year of high school. He waited until his senior year to make a decision and on January 20, 2018, he committed to Duke University so he could be coached by the legendary. Mike Krzyzewski. After a freshman year of leading the powerhouse team, he entered the NBA draft. on June 20, 2019, he was the much sought after first pick, going to the New Orleans Pelicans. Afterward he cried and thanked his mother for all of the work she did to get him to the momentous moment.
