A night at the NYC ballet meant champagne, tuxedos, and of course, an Upper East Side throw down!
The Nov. 8 episode brought the moment we’ve all been waiting for: Juliet (Katie Cassidy) was banished from the UES (by Queen Blair, of course.) This was definitely a turn of events, after we were convinced Juliet had come to her senses and abandoned her “let’s take down Serena” plan. But with the help of Brooklyn-native Vanessa (Jessica Szohr), Juliet returned to her evil roots to finally destroy Serena — and failed!
Here’s what happened:
Juliet took pictures of Serena (Blake Lively) kissing her business professor, Colin (Sam Page.) In light of Nate (Chace Crawford) and Juliet’s break-up, he went to return her belongings to her nonexistent address, leading him to finally discover that she’s been lying all along! Nate sent Vanessa to Juliet’s real address to find out what she’s been hiding.
Vanessa, who we all know has never been Serena’s biggest fan, stumbled upon the scandalous photos of Serena and Colin, but Juliet caught Vanessa in her apartment and told her she wasn’t going to expose the photos anymore — and then deleted them!
But sneaky Vanessa stole the flash drive with the original photos, later showing up at the ballet to face the rest of the UES clan, including Serena and Colin. To expose Serena, Juliet joined forces with Vanessa, and together they handed the flash drive over to the Dean of Columbia. Chuck and Blair intervened and Blair ended up (literally) drowning the evidence in her champagne. The gang cornered Juliet and banned her from the Upper East Side forever!
And here are my top ‘OMG’ moments from the Nov. 8 episode:
1. Juliet cries on Jenny’s shoulder!
It looks like we’ll be seeing more of Jenny (Taylor Momsen) on next week’s Gossip Girl! After Blair, Chuck, Serena, and Nate banned Juliet from the UES, she skyped JENNY looking for help! I wonder what her plan of attack will be. Do you think the demonic trinity— Juliet, Vanessa & Jenny— can successfully exact its revenge?
2. Serena finds herself in a ménage à trois!
Even though Colin resigned as business professor at Columbia to be with Serena, she still ended up dumping him at the end of the episode. There are still lingering feelings between her and stepbrother Dan (Penn Badgley.) But it wouldn’t be a Serena love affair without another man in the mix: Nate! He confessed his love for Serena at the end of the episode, just as Dan was exiting a taxi to confess his love for her, too. Oh, Serena…
3. Chuck and Blair become “enemies with benefits!”
Thanks to Chuck and Blair, Gossip Girl has now instated a new term to describe hooking up with your ex: “enemies with benefits.” After last week’s “hate sex” scene, we knew it wouldn’t be the last. Blair (Leighton Meester) spent all of the Nov. 8 episode trying to resist Chuck’s sexual essence by chowing down on chocolates and macaroons. But after a UES takedown, which Blair said is almost better than sex, she and Chuck (Ed Westwick) hooked up again… possibly as friends with benefits.
4. Vanessa gets vicious!
I did NOT expect this sort of behavior out of Vanessa. But after hanging out on the UES for the past few years, it seems she’s learned a thing or two from Blair. I think her character has taken a turn for the worst, and I’m curious to see what her next vicious act will be!
What did you think about last night’s episode? Are you happy Juliet will no longer be hanging out with the Upper East Siders? Do you think Serena and Dan will get back together? I want to hear what you have to say, so make sure to drop me a comment!
