The excitement, the wonder of watching your body change, the insane hormones, the wild cravings… pregnancy has its ups and downs, but these moms-to-be are loving every second of it.
“Everything you read in the books, I got it all — the cravings… the morning sickness,” says Christina, 38, who announced in July that she is “somewhere between zero and 10 months” pregnant. Though mum about her due date, she’s tracking her road to motherhood via Twitter, sharing everything from her cravings (pizza, avocados) to her bewilderment about how to dress her bump to her horror at walking with a waddle. As for what kind of mom she’ll be to her child with fiancé Martyn Lenoble, Christina says, “I’ll probably be a little bit hippie and a little bit Type A.”
“I can’t wait for it!” Ali, 34, says of motherhood. While she and hubby Hayes MacArthur anticipate the winter arrival of their little one – she let slip that it’s a boy – the former Heroes star is enjoying indulging her cravings. “I eat everything. I bake myself strawberry shortcakes and I wake up at three in the morning and I eat them. I love it!” she says. “So much of the time I have to be careful. I work out and play certain roles where it’s important for me to look a certain way. But now it’s just freedom — it’s like, bring on the Sprinkles cupcakes, pizza, pasta!”
From Bachelor Pad to baby nursery! Former Bachelor contestant Melissa is thrilled to be welcoming her first baby in February — even if her pregnancy was a surprise. “We weren’t even trying,” admits Melissa, 27, who wed insurance agent Tye Strickland last December. Though she keeps fit with light cardio, Melissa — whose cravings include fruit and chocolate milk — is eager to grow a telltale tummy. “Once you get the big belly bump, it’s kind of at the point where you’re ready to have the kid come out… It’s a short window to enjoy, but I can’t wait.”
“It is one of the most beautiful experiences to have in this life and I am looking forward to it when it is my time,” says Alicia, 30, whose time has come! The Grammy winner, who married music producer Swizz Beatz, 32, in August, is set to release her greatest hit this fall. “She’s super ready. Super calm. Super glowing. Super positive. Super happy,” says Swizz, adding that they have no idea what the stork has in store for them. “We’re just going to let that be magical. Whatever we’re blessed with, boy, girl, twins, that baby is being born to blessed parents.”
She won’t reveal her due date, but Alanis doesn’t mind sharing that her pregnancy wasn’t exactly planned. “I actually thought I wasn’t [pregnant]” explains the singer, 36, who exchanged vows with rapper Souleye, 30, in May. “I had just sort of said in passing [to my doctor] that I was a little late.” The doctor told her it “looked like” she was pregnant, and Alanis recalls, “I said, ‘There’s still a chance that I’m not, though, yes?’ And he said, ‘About as likely as my getting a sex change.’” Her response? “So, when are you getting your sex change?”
Following her surprise July wedding to Orlando Bloom, 33, Victoria’s Secret stunner Miranda unveiled an even bigger bombshell. “Yes, I am pregnant. Four months along,” the Aussie model, 27, told the September issue of Spanish Vogue. Miranda admits it wasn’t easy keeping the news about baby Bloom hush-hush, especially during her first trimester, when she suffered terrible morning sickness. “I had a dreadful time at one job,” she says. Still, the result will be worth it. Says pal Heidi Klum, “They’ll make a handsome baby, that’s for sure!”
