OOOOOOObama Xmas Tree!

OK, my invite to the White House Christmas tree lighting must have got lost in the mail – what about yours?

Too bad, because the Big Event happened last night and it was hard work for the National Christmas Tree to shine more brightly than Barack Obama! Our prez, with a little help from his gorgeous wife, Michelle, and daughters Malia, 11, and Sasha, 8, officially lit it up (a 40-foot Colorado blue spruce) Thursday night in Washington D.C.

“I’m technologically challenged and I might not get through this right. Everybody has got to help me out here!”, Barack joked before flipping a switch to light the 40-foot Colorado blue spruce and yelling, “It worked!” in triumph.

Naturally, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without some carols. But if you happen to be Barack and Michele, your carolers do tend to have some pretty recognizable faces.

Sheryl Crow, Common, American Idol alum Jordin Sparks and even Oprah Winfrey all warbled Christmas some holiday tunes. The crowd was so star-studded, in fact, that it promped Barack to laugh, “I told Sasha we’re not on American Idol!”

But despite the jovial atmosphere, our President did take a minute to reveal his Christmas wish. And guess what? It’s goodwill for all!

Barack told his assembled holiday guests that it was important to remember and pray for those who have lost jobs and homes, as well as military members who were spending the holidays far away from their families. “We will be thinking of you and praying for you doing the holiday season,” he said.

What’s your Christmas wish? Is it as selfless as Barack Obama’s?
