Meeting the parents? Swanky dinner? Here are six great hair and makeup ideas for the occasion!

Thanksgiving festivities are totally fun but then there are always the questions that come up: what hair and makeup is appropriate for the occasion? No matter what you’ve got going on, I’ve got a suggestion for your beauty needs:

Long flowing curls like Anne Hathaway are always classic and lovely, which is perfect for any occasion big or small. Be sure to roll your hair down and toward your face with a Remington T Studio Pearl Ceramic Ultimate 20 Heated Clip Hair Setter. Keep your makeup light and natural.

If you’ve got a slightly more glamorous evening planned but still need to look a bit demure, borrow a book from Katie Cassidy’s book and go for tousled curls as a hairstyle. Keep your makeup simple with glowing skin, defined lashes (Maybelline Define-A-Last Lengthening Mascara would be perfect for this) and a great pink lip gloss, like L’Oreal Infallible Plumping Lip Gloss in Plumped Pink.

A sleek ponytail is perfect for meeting the parents or evening cocktails. Go for amazing shine Redken Vinyl Glam 02 Mega Shine Mild Control Spray. Tip: the higher the pony, the more casual the look so think “sunrise” (a higher ponytail) for day and “sunset” (lower, closer to the nape of the neck) for nighttime styles.

If you’ve got short hair, feel free to go for a natural makeup look and slightly tousled texture (nothing too spiky or you might scare Grandma.) Take a cue from Halle Berry’s makeup look and use a great neutral palette of browns for your eyes like Revlon ColorStay 12-Hour Eye Shadow in Coffee Bean. Start with lighter hues for day, then use darker chocolates and bronzes for evening if you need more drama.

Ashley Greene’s look is perfect for evening activities where you want to look alluring but appropriate. Ashley’s lovely red lip is a great hue, mark Lipclick Full Color Lipstick in Cha Cha. Keep the rest of the makeup simple and your hair touchable but not overdone with volume.
