The country crooner is one of the most talented and beloved stars in America, but she is not afraid to take on the men who have done her wrong in her wildly popular songs!
Taylor Swift‘s new album “Speak Now” will finally be released after much hype on Oct. 25, and as songs are slowly being leaked, one this is becoming very clear — Taylor likes to get back at the men in her life through her lyrics! Joe Jonas, John Mayer, Taylor Lautner and Kanye West are just a few of the men Taylor is more than happy to take to task through her very straight forward, and in no way subtle, music lyrics.
Here is what Taylor has had to say about the men in her life :
- John Mayer : John most definitely did Taylor wrong judging by the lyrics in her song “Dear John.” The pair dated briefly, despite their 13 year age difference, and Taylor seems like she was soon screwed over in a BIG way. Dear John / I see it all now that you’re gone / Don’t you think I was too young / To be messed with / The girl in the dress / Cried the whole way home / I should’ve known.
- Joe Jonas : Joe allegedly dumped Taylor over the phone, probably not the smartest thing to do to a songwriter who tends to be a bit of an oversharer. He, in return, seems to have gotten the new song “Mean” written in his honor. You, with your words like knives / And swords and weapons that you use against me / You, have knocked me off my feet again / Got me feeling like I’m nothing / You, with your voice like nails on a chalkboard / Calling me out when I’m wounded / You, pickin’ on the weaker man.
- Taylor Lautner : In a bit of a departure, Taylor actually seems to think Taylor was one of, if not the, greatest guys she has ever dated. Lady Taylor seems to be taking revenge on herself in “Back to December!” So this is me swallowing my pride / Standing in front of you saying I’m sorry for that night / And I go back to December all the time / Turns out freedom ain’t nothing but missing you / Wishing that I realized what I had when you were mine / I’d go back to December, turn around and make it all right / I go back to December all the time.
- Kanye West : Hey, did you guys know that Taylor and Kanye had a public spat? Oh, you did? Kanye garnered national criticism when he rushed the stage and stole Taylor’s 2009 MTV VMA Award, and she gave her opinion in a song that, oddly enough, seems to forgive the rapper! In her song “Innocent,” which she debuted at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Taylor gave her reaction to the events. Wasn’t it beautiful running wild ’til you fell asleep/Before the monsters caught up to you/It’s alright, just wait and see/Your string of lights is still bright to me/Oh, who your are is not where you’ve been/You’re still an innocent.
