4-Year-Old Suri Cruise Was Out In A Restaurant At Midnight — Is This OK? Probably Not.

We know Suri lives a pretty high-profile life for a preschooler, but should she really be burning the midnight oil in New York City?

Katie Holmes, 32, took her daughter Suri to their favorite New York restaurant, Serendipity 3, this morning, March 16. Yes, this morning…12 a.m. to be exact. We know that it’s exciting to stay up until midnight when you’re a tiny tot, but Suri is only 4½ — she’ll be five next month — and that seems a little too young to be out at a restaurant. Don’t you think?

“There was a lot of ice cream,” a source tells People of the visit. “Suri definitely loves ice cream, and she usually orders a hot fudge sundae.” She also had some frozen hot chocolates — which is a Serendipity speciality. Ice cream past midnight equals wide-awake kid!

But, who knows. Maybe Katie was just surprising Suri with a little late night treat at the restaurant — fit for a princess might we add — while they’re in the Big Apple. That’s definitely fun to do, but it’s also not so good for a young child to stay up that late, especially if he/she might be chowing down on some sweets — which the whimsical Serendipity is known for.

So HollyMoms, what do you think? (And what would dad, Tom Cruise think! ) Is midnight too late for Suri to be out going to restaurants?

They live in LA, but are in New York at the moment- maybe they are keeping her on LA time while on vacation, and then midnight isnt really a big deal. And honestly, who the heck cares? Like no one has ever in the history of the world let their child stay up until midnight. Get over it.

Katie is a good mother and she had her reasons for the outing! She cannot explain to the public and she does care about public opinions! Suri and Katie’s outing happens world wide for various reasons. I have done this with my child on occasion. Suri and lots of kids get to hang with parents with not the average normal lifestyles. My father worked on the train and every so often we got to go pick him up at 2:00 am because he had been gone for weeks! We would eat at a diner and thought it was great just to be up! My sister was 2 and I was 6.

This incident — who knows. Any given night out might be a special occasion or a particular treat, and that’s not unhealthy. I worry more about the fact that they spend thousands of dollars on individual items of her clothing, put her in high heels, etc. This kid is being given every insane luxury, which IMHO does nobody any favors.

At least Katie isn’t leaving her at home all the time with some nanny. It’s good to see quality parent interaction like this. But hopefully the poor girl isn’t traumatized by the paparazzi.

Selfish parents. They can’t forgo a dinner out to stay home w/ their kid, acting like famewhores like Kate Gosselin.
Obviously they don’t have Suri enrolled in any kind of school where she has to get up the next morning. I felt guilty if my kids were “off” their schedule. Then people wonder why kids act like brats – duh – they’re tired.

I don’t usually comment on these things but holy s**t this is so annoying, why is anyone even posting this asking if this is OK? No one has the right to judge her about what she does with her child. They are not hurting anyone and I’m sure she doesn’t do this all the time and maybe she woke from a bad dream and decided to take her out to make her feel better, or maybe they are on a different time schedule because if it was midnight in New York that only makes it what 9pm in Cali or something like that.. GEEZ the media is ridiculous and who are we to say whether it is OK or not. Quit giving opinions and judgments on everyone else s life and focus on your own!!

Really can not believe that I wasted my time reading this article.. seriously, who really cares. you only get to be a KID once in your life. after that, U are forced to act like an Adult. for the next 60 or so years. Enjoy the time you have, and don’t waste it sleeping just at night…or working all day. leave that Kid alone.

It’s a big deal because kids need structure and SLEEP! They need at least 10-12 hours a night to recharge. When you have kids you’ll understand.
If the parents can’t put the rules in place then who can?!

Zippy, you have no idea the situation so why even say anything. Its not like they’re showing her out every night. Its one time. God you people have no life. Leave these people only. I bet if people followed you around all the time they would find that you’re not so perfect

no one has any idea what the context was behind the midnight outing. Something private may have happened… considering that the baby was taken to her ‘fav’ restaurant and given a bunch of sweets, indicates her mama was trying to soothe her. Do you see the kid out every other week after hours? get off it.
