Sundance Diary, Day 3: Boarding With The Hemsworths & Partying With 50 Cent!

With the Sundance Film Festival in full swing, activities ranged from snowboarding lessons, to all night ragers with celebs!

The 2011 Sundance Film Festival is finally taking off — and as Murphy’s Law would have it, the weather acted up for the first time as well! However, despite the nippy temperatures, brutal wind chill and intense snow fall, celebrities, fans and film makers all seemed to make it out for the festivities down town!

11:00 a.m. After partying last night at Ghostland Observatory at Harry O’s, the morning rolled around WAY too quickly — and we weren’t the only ones feeling that way! Annika and I headed to the Oakley Learn To Ride Program (fueled by Muscle Milk) on Main Street and were greeted by super friendly (and also tired) snowboarders, who helped us get outfitted in Oakley gear, DC shoes and snow boots and New Era hats and beanies before heading over to the ski hill for a snow boarding lesson. Sadly, I had strict doctor’s orders to stay off the slope, so Annika took one for the team and had a boarding lesson. Even though the visibility wasn’t fantastic because of all the snow coming down, I loved watching her make her way down the hill and taking her instructor down with her every time she fell! Chris and Liam Hemsworth were also in the suite and getting snowboarding lessons at the same time, but they were way more experienced than us! Even though Liam ate it a few times, he seemed to have boarding licked. The brothers (plus Chris’ wife) were having the best time with each other, laughing and joking the entire time.

3:00 p.m. Both Annika’s and my hair was so frizzy and unruly after braving the snow for hours that it looked like we’d stuck our  fingers in a light socket. Fortunately, we had invites to the TR Suite where Keratin Complex and Nine Zero One Salon were hosting Keratin Complex express blowouts and a braid bar and we both got our hair did (see pic above)! While at the suite, we munched on Wonderland Bakery cookies and watched celebs like Anne Heche make their rounds and collect fun gifts from brands like Yasmin & Jazmin Jewelry, RollCall, Gypsy05, Vita Coco, Gilt City, FlipOut, Cafe Bustelo, Corona Light, Trident Vitality, SuperGoop, h.wood tea, h.wood beauty, Stoli, Izze,, Keratin Complex, Artful Dodger, Rocawear, Member’s Only and Media Muscle.

4:30 p.m. My inner nerd geeked out at the Nintendo 3DS suite, where we got a sneak preview of the upcoming Nintendo 3DS, which is the first 3-D gaming device with which you don’t have to wear any glasses! Honestly, this demo pretty much made my entire trip. I cannot rave enough about this nifty little gadget — it’s mind boggling! The Nintendo 3DS looks like the hand held device that is currently on the market, but the top screen actually seems to jump out at you. Every celeb who stopped by the suite to try out the new Nintendo (Penn Badgley, Carmen Electra) was just as baffled as me! For those of you gamers, the fancy new gadget is coming out March 27 and will retail for $249.99.

11:30 p.m. One of the hottest parties in town tonight was 50 Cent‘s Cheetah Vision Films Launch Party at the House of Hype LIVEStyle Lounge, so of course we had to swing by. We grew up listening to 50 Cent’s music, so the possibility of hearing him perform live to an intimate crowd of 200 or so pleased us greatly. When we first arrived, 50 was inside enjoying his dinner and even stopped by the basement where the party was held. We overheard publicists, party goers and 50’s friends talking about an impromptu performance, so we danced our way to the front of the stage and waited until about 3 a.m. for the man in question to rock out. Around 3:15 a.m., it became pretty obvious 50 Cent had moved on to a different party down the street and wasn’t going to be performing…rats! Nevertheless, we had a blast dancing to the DJ and making new Sundance friends!
