Cutouts! Showing a hint of skin was a huge trend on the Spring 2012 runways, so it’s no surprise that the ready-to-wear look has hit the red carpet. From Amber Heard‘s black Zac Posen gown to Jenna Ushkowitz‘s pretty printed Rebecca Minkoff, these ladies dared to show some skin in creative ways.
From red shades and plunging necklines, there was so much variety on the red carpet at the SAG Awards — check out the top trends we spotted & see how the stars worked the looks!
Usually we see a major trend or two on the red carpet at an awards show, but at the Screen Actors Guild Awards 2012 on Jan. 29 instead of seeing one or two dominant looks we actually saw a few! There were backless gowns, lace backs, cutouts (which were also popular on the Spring 2012 runway) and dramatic slits, to name a few. Check out the top trends we spotted, see who worked the looks and tell us if you want to see more of these trends during awards season!
Usually reserved for super sexy stars like Megan Fox, flashing a little (or a lot!) of leg is definitely a major trend, with both Emily Blunt, (in Oscar de la Renta), and Lea Michele, (in Versace), showing off the look.
Ladies in Red!
Red ruled the carpet last night, with a slew of women opting to show off in the hue. From pinks, (like Dianna Agron and Sofia Vegara), to bold reds, (on Kyra Sedgwick and Michelle Williams), it was definitely the most popular color of the night.
Rose Byrne was in a class by herself last night in her fashion-forward, embellished Elie Saab jumpsuit — and while it was totally different than the other looks on the red carpet, her plunging neckline was definitely a popular trend, with Naya Rivera also showing off in a plunging Naeem Khan gown.
While we saw a few bare backs on the red carpet, both Michelle Williams and Jayma Mays took the trend a step further, baring their backs clad in lace. From the front, both Michelle’s Valentino gown and Jayma’s sparkling Reem Acra seemed much more demure — until they turned around!
