Robert Pattinson has blown away the image of the aloof A-lister, who whizzes by fans and the press — Thank you Rob!
Unlike the typical Hollywood and film stars who these days show up late for their premieres and barely acknowledge fans, let alone the press assembled to publicize their movies — Robert Pattinson was the people’s prince in NYC at his Water for Elephants premiere on April 17!
Hollywoodlife.com‘s Chloe Melas, who was on the red carpet, watched in awe as Robert Pattinson arrived over 70 minutes early for the premiere and IMMEDIATELY walked to the back of the long line of fans lining NYC’s 54th St. where the Ziegfried Theatre , where the premiere was held, is located.
He spent an hour chatting, signing autographs and taking photos with his fans.
That’s exactly the sort of fan-friendly behavior that Rob and girlfriend Kristin Stewart have displayed at every Twilight film premiere and at thousands of interactions with fans. We’ve done the posts and have your photos to prove it!
Rob was equally gracious talking to press at the Water for Elephants premiere.
Now, the question is, did Rob’s friendly- fan move push his co-star Reese Witherspoon into doing the same thing?
The petite blonde was the last of the film’s stars to arrive at the premiere, over half an hour after Rob ,and she stopped to work the crowd, halfway down the street.
The New York Post’s Page Six actually reports that Reese’s rep called the actressto tell her to “get in on the act.” “A car ‘screeched up 20 minutes before the film’ and deposited her in the middle of the block.”
I’ve said this before and I’m saying it again — it’s a NEW WORLD, A-listers! With the HUGE popularity of reality stars who LOVE the be celebrities and welcome fan attention, and with the new young stars like the Twilighters, the Vampire Diaries crew, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, most of the Glee cast, and even Angelina Jolie, there’s been a seismic shift in star behavior.
Aloofness to fans is out! Chatting, posing, and sharing life moments with fans is IN!
Robert Pattinson is smart enough to realize that his popularity rests with his fans. He wants his film to be a blockbuster and that means he needs fan support!
A-listers — you can’t keep commanding $10, $12, $15 million paychecks per film, and then barely show up to your premieres. Take it from Robert Pattinson — you’d be smart to work it!
