Ah, Mother's Day: That one special time of year when we all pay tribute to the moms who raised us and taught us right from wrong. But because not all moms are created equal, HollywoodLife.com is counting down the 10 best — and worst — TV moms, from Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries and more of your favorite shows.
WORST: Rebecca Sewell, The Lying Game
We suspected Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) of no good all season on The Lying Game, but the final moments of the finale revealed she's more evil than any of us thought. She's using her twins — even working with one of them — to make sure her wicked plan comes to fruition.
BEST: Ashley Marin & Ella Montgomery, Pretty Little Liars
They may not be able to save their marriages, but Ashley (Laura Leighton) and Ella (Holly Marie Combs) would do — and have done — whatever it takes to save their daughters.
WORST: Leigh Conroy, SMASH
If you've ever wondered why Ivy is such an insecure, self-deprecating train wreck, you've obviously never met her impossible-to-please mother Leigh (Bernadette Peters).
BEST: Teresa Giudice, The Real Housewives of New Jersey
Teresa Giudice recently told HollywoodLife.com that she juggles filming, parenting and cooking — all without the help of a nanny! That, and she can flip a mean table.
WORST: Arlene Fowler, True Blood
I love Arlene (Carrie Preston) to death, but let's face the facts — any mom who would let their daughter dress up like Jenelle Evans for Halloween needs to have her head examined.
WORST: Lois Griffin, Family Guy
If being funny was the only prerequisite for a good mom, Lois (Alex Borstein) would probably top our “best” list. But it's not, so because Lois frequently appears to lack any sort of maternal fiber whatsoever, we're putting her in the “worst” category.
BEST: Marge Simpson, The Simpsons
For more than 23 years — although it's only been about a week in 'Springfield time' — Marge (Julie Kavner) has been the yellow-skinned, blue-haired June Cleaver of the animated world. Can I get a disgruntled grunt?
WORST: Regina & Cora, Once Upon A Time
The cursed apple doesn't fall far from the enchanted tree, which is why it's no wonder that Cora (Barbara Hershey) is even more wicked than Regina (Lana Parrilla). Like mother, like daughter!
BEST: Emma Swan & Snow White, Once Upon A Time
Tonight's season finale will find Emma (Jennifer Morrison) fighting for her son, and of course, none of the series would even be possible if Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) hadn't saved her daughter in the first place.
BEST: Lily Humphrey, Gossip Girl
Sure, she's the hottest mess on the Upper East Side — but Lily (Kelly Rutherford) would still stick her neck out for Serena any day.
WORST: Dawn Chamberlain, The Secret Circle
Dawn (Natasha Henstridge) spent an entire season — actually, make that the entire series — of The Secret Circle plotting to steal the teen witches' magic… including her own daughter's! Shame, shame, shame.
BEST: Carol Lockwood & Liz Forbes, The Vampire Diaries
They may not have accepted their supernatural children at first, but Carol (Susan Walters) and Liz (Marguerite MacIntyre) have totally come around — and next season, they'll be defending them against the entire Mystic Falls Council!
