Bonnie Says: A-Listers Like Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson & Julia Roberts Need To Get Fan-Friendly Or Else!

Posted Wed, January 5, 2011 1:00pm EDT

Move over traditional movie stars who refuse to pose for paparazzi , breeze by reporters on red carpets or shake hands with their fans!

Sorry guys, but fan unfriendly behavior is so NOT 2010! Traditional inaccessible A-List behavior simply won’t pull people in to see your films anymore. Consider the evidence: Reese Witherspoon‘s new box office bomb, How Do You Know has trickled in only $25, 582,403 in box office tickets so far but it cost $120 to make!

Jen Aniston’s two latest films, The Bounty Hunter and The Switch barely broke even at the box office. Julia Roberts, used to be a shoo-in for major movie tickets but her latest  Eat, Pray, Love, cost $60 million to make and only pulled in $80 million U.S.. Even worst for her future –  younger female audiences hardly know who she is , and  they don’t care about her. She’s spent so much time hiding from  photogs and her fans, she’s evaporated her fan base.

Hollywood A-listers- the world has changed and you’ve been left behind. Take a look at Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Rob Pattinson, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Emily Watson, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, all the Glee team and The Vampire Diaries crew.

The LOVE and respect their fans and interact with them on red carpets and at fan events. Go on twitter and check out the thousands of photos these stars have taken with their fans. They thank their fans at award shows. They sign autographs. They talk about how much they love the work they are doing and how lucky they feel.

Here at Hollywoodlife.com we’ve talked to Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Nina Dobrev, Ashley Greene, Kim Kardashian and Selena Gomez for example, multiple times. They are friendly, enthusiastic, honest, fun and grateful for the blessings their fame and fortune have conferred upon them.

There’s not an eye-roller among them.

They understand the power of communication with their fans as well. Taylor Swift publishes photos and diaries on twitter, Kim K keeps her fans apprised of all her doings, Ian Somerhalder and Justin Bieber tweet back.

It’s a new world, traditional A-Listers! Don’t look down your noses at reality stars and TV series stars. They’ve changed the playing field and they are reaping the rewards of being accessible and down-to-earth.

Celebs who refuse to come down off their high horses and adapt to the new “friendly” world will soon find themselves as extinct as the ancient dinosaurs!

Yes, they should be friendly to fans. For example, Susan Boyle only had a few appearances in the US, she came only twice to the US. However, she had small meet and greet with fans in the UK once in awhile. The fans will report back to the fan site and post photos there. That’s why she is still big in the US. She charted at #1 on Billboard for four weeks and head to head competition with Taylor Swift with so little promotions.

Ian Somerhalder is such a great celebrity in my eyes! He’s friendly, uses his “power” for good, and just seems to be an all-around good guy. Plus, he’s awesome on The Vampire Diaries. I’ve been writing blogs for the CW about The Vampire Diaries and have learned so much about what an awesome guy he is.

I find it funny that before the Tourist came out you couldn’t turn on the TV on without a trailer or open a magazine without some ad a bout the movie and Jolie and Depp’s chemistry. Now that the movie has sunk you do not see or hear anything a bout it or them any where and US has not commented on the failure of yet another Jolie movie that costs millions of dollars to make. Instead people constantly bash Jenni it has been going on for weeks cant this girl be left a lone. Jen’s movies have always entertained that’s what I want to pay for not more violence and shoot em ups. Look in the mirror before you bash her – Jen’s warm, funny, cute and down to earth just the opposite of these fake hollywood actresses. or else… youre gonna stomp your self-righteous foot?

oh bonnie, you crack me up every time! haha

im pretty sure julia is happier away from paparazzi, no matter how much money her films make.

and i disagree with the reality tv people being equal to movie stars, yes STARS. there used to be a time when TALENT ruled hollywood (ok ok looks also played a part). but these days, its ALL about looks, nakedness, sex tapes or being some dumb (but funny) person. thats enough to be on reality tv!!

how low is the entertainment industry gonna sink?

i have more respect for the julias and leonardos of this world than the kims and jackasses. but hey, whatever floats your boat ey?

This story is weak. By your logic Ashton Kutcher should be the biggest star around. Let’s see how well his new flick does… Are you aware that Jude Law was in Sherlock Holmes (over 1/2 a BILLION WW) and is working with Scorsese? You are out of touch sister. Oh and get a spell check too.

TBH and The Switch did well at the box office. Fuller maybe you need to use Box Office Mojo. They have accurate info about all movies-something you wouldn’t know anything about.

Also I’ve seen plenty of pics of these women signing autographs and having pics taken with their fans.Maybe it’s just YOU they don’t want to talk to? If I am not mistaken Jennifer has had at least two stalkers in the past few years. One a few months ago that is locked up now. Could make a person a little afraid with some people out there.

By now they know you never let facts get in the way of your mean spirited “stories”…

Could that be why they aren’t too friendly with you?

Bonnie, you forgot Angelina Jolie. Did you miss all the tweets from the fans that stood out in the cold at one of her Tourist Premiers just a short while ago? They praised Brad for being nice, and were shocked at how cold Angie was, and how fast she got away from there, and refused to sign some. Some stated out right she was a *****, and those were her fans that waited hours to see her..

My post man does a fabulous job, but I’m just so damned annoyed that he won’t let me take a picture with him! So I’ve decided to stop collecting my mail–that will show him that his inaccessibility is hurting his chance to deliver my mail.

umm Bonnie? Kristen Stewart banned her fans from taking pictures with her! not exactly the friendly celebrity she’s being portrayed as… and they’re not stuck up, i’m sure at the beginning of their careers they were happy signing autographs and all that jazz, but after decades of being in the limelight they’re bound to be a bit tired of it all. give them a break!

I find it funny that you seem to think that being a bit more introverted and focusing more on what they’re actually paid to do equals “snobby”. They don’t make money because they try to be friends with everyone and make that their number one priority. They make money because they act and can clearly bring in audiences for movies. Normal people don’t take pictures and chat with everyone they see. Maybe those traditional A-listers just want to be normal people. Also, you used pictures of the three older actresses walking alone. I’m sorry, I missed the part in psychology that says that walking alone makes somebody stuck-up.

Bonnie, you can not get your facts straight. The Bounty Hutner did 136 million on a 40 million dollar budget, how is that barley breaking even?

Oddly enough, Bonnie, it’s not all about you. Movies bomb, because for whatever reason (most often, because, well, they’re bad) people don’t want to see them. It has f-all to do with whether a performer wants to waste time they’ll never get back talking to a complete pinhead.

These gals come from a different era. They aren’t the type of people who use Twitter and tell people their every move.

Also, you mentioned more people who are in the music business than the acting world. Musicians/pop stars/whatever have to sell their image. Actors have to sell a character.

As for the Twilight kids? I heard the Taylor dude was really nice to his fans. The other two? I feel like they’re moody and hate the spotlight, but you know…the contracts.

I agree that the gals you mentioned should get more fan friendly. Do more publicity. You never really see them anywhere. Seriously. But I don’t think they should be on Twitter in open water for people to say cruel things to them. Hell, Miley Cyrus WAS America’s sweetheart and you see how quick they ran her off of Twitter. What do you think they’re gonna do to a Jen Aniston???

“Jen Aniston’s two latest films, The Bounty Hunter and The Switch barely broke even at the box office.”

Really? Well you better tell studio execs that since according to her numbers both fils outearned their production budgets quite nicely. The Switch brought in $47 million WW on a $19 million budget and The Bounty Hunter brought in $136 million WW on a $40 million budget.

I’m sick of reading how Jennifer’s movies don’t make money. It’s sloppy and lazy journalism that so few in the media actually check the numbers before repeating this lie. Not to mention it is beyond ridiculou – she wouldn’t keep getting hired if she wasn’t profitable to the studios.

Keep repeating the LIE that The Switch only cost $19m all you want, but anyone who passed third grade math knows it isn’t true. $19 mil for UNION shoot in NEW YORK??? The city that Woody Allen has said he can no longer afford to shoot in, so he now films in Europe (and his films are budgeted in mid-20s)? Suppose you tell us how LYING Aniston was SUPPOSEDLY paid $8m for the film (per Huvane’s CLAIM to get her on the Forbes list), how they then paid not one but TWO UNION DIRECTORS ($1.5 to 2m easily), paid Bateman and Goldblum (combined salaries of at least $6 mil), THEN paid ALL other UNION actors, paid NY UNION crews, paid NY hotel fees for housing, and paid for all equipment rental, lighting, film stock, catering, editing facilities, etc. on what what would have been a remaining $3 mil bucks. The Switch cost a minimum of $40m (as everyone in Hollywood knows), then add an additonal $10 to 20m for marketing and it did NOT break even in theatrical with only $47m (and dvd sales are slow for the FLOP). And EVEN IF the $19m figure were true (WHICH IT ISN’T), it would mean she is now reduced to making LOW BUDGET INDIES for which she is getting a max of $3 mil per film (and THAT would be astronomical on only $19m). So the LIAR is a FAILURE no matter how you try to spin it. LOL!!
