Megan Fox Is ‘Far From’ Anorexic & Actually Struggles To Gain Weight, Says Trainer

Posted Mon, March 7, 2011 1:18pm EDT

Megan Fox’s fitness trainer Harley Pasternak reveals the actress’s frustrations with gaining weight in an exclusive interview

Megan Fox has been looking particularly thin lately, and 81% of you voted you were worried about how tiny she is getting. But her trainer Harley Pasternak assures HollywoodLife.com the actress eats a lot and explains why she’s so skinny.

“Do I worry about Megan getting too skinny? Yeah!” exclaims Harley, who trains Megan and other celebrities like Robert Pattinson, Katy Perry and Amanda Seyfried.

“Believe it or not she has this really fast metabolism,” explains Harley. “So her training is all about body toning and sculpting. With her its really about she’s eating enough of the right things. People thought ‘Oh she must be anorexic’ but she’s far from that!”

In fact, Harley reveals, Megan gets very upset when she hears people think she has an eating disorder, especially since she struggles to gain weight. “She gets frustrated at times because she’s like ‘I need to put on weight.’ So she actually weight-trains to keep on that lean muscle tissue.”

The 5 factor fitness trainer went on to explain the kind of training he does with Megan to make her stomach toned and muscular. “The key to Megan’s abs is first of all genetics,” Harley says. “The second is that we train her abs on all three planes. It’s not just about crunch, crunch, crunch. It’s about working her body up and down and side to side and rotation. We train all three of her rectus abdominis, her obliques and her corset muscle to make sure that her abs are not just tight and strong but small. The corset pulls it all in.”

So what do you guys think? Do you feel sorry for Megan now that you know she has such a tough time putting on weight?

Its ridiculous. I personally don’t like Megan Fox nor do I think she’s talented as an actress. But I do think she gets jobs in Hollywood because of her looks. Although I don’t like her from how she portrays herself and the ‘vibe’ that she gives off, I don’t know her. She is a petite girl, both in height and weight. But overall, she looks good and many find her attractive. Who knows if she tries really hard to keep her weight down to look the part but I do know from a personal experience that many (although more rare than heavier set people) do have a hard time gaining weight- it’s just not looked upon as something of a ‘problem’ in our society. I am a skinny girl myself who struggles to gain weight but I also think I look good and feel lucky that I can eat whatever I want and not have to worry about having issues associated with being heavy. To most people’s surprise, I eat more than my bf who is 5’11 and 175 pounds. He does work out to stay in shape and to look great so he’s picky about what he eats and when. I think whether you’re skinny or fat, people will judge. But who cares as long as that person is healthy. To me because I’m skinny, I used to think that fat people at so much with no exercise and that’s why they are fat. But my brother married a ‘fat’ girl who counted her calories and exercised religiously and still gained weight and when she did lose some of the weight, it all came back. My mother said some people can just drink water and gain weight and some can eat a cow and not. I now believe that. Everyones different. There are those who fit in certain categories but there are those rare ones, like myself and my sis-in-law who doesn’t. If these celebrities are starving, its not Hollywood- its themselves. And no, we don’t know it because we don’t know them.

Such BS! No one goes from skinney yet still healthy looking in their younger years to rail thin as they mature and suddenly its a high metabolism? Don’t treat us like we are stupid. Hollywood starves these actresses, we all know it. Stop lying! Lol.

I don’t feel sorry for her, but I do believe that she has a hard time gaining weight. I’ve known a lot of people like this. They are lucky. I used to be like that too in my younger years. It’s not always BS that someone is skinny naturally. I don’t know why that’s so hard to believe. Just like some people are naturally fat, some are naturally skinny.

Let me point out the cognitive dissonance that is very frequent in some people’s minds when it comes to issues like this by using Mel’s post here as an example. It really highlights the brainwashing that the media achieves with people by pushing for underweight as attractive and desirable. This is of course not including the fact that this story is BS because Megan Fox has been quoted before as admitting she purposely does not eat a lot:

“I don’t feel sorry for her, but I do believe that she has a hard time gaining weight. I’ve known a lot of people like this.”

From this comment it comes across as Mel is talking about this issue of Fox’s skinniness as a negative. Mel describes it has “a hard time” to struggle not being so skinny.

However, the very next sentence Mel writes this:

“They are lucky.”

How can a person describe the situation negatively and then follow it up by declaring it as being “lucky”? This is classic cognitive dissonance. We know deep inside that there is too much of this underweight phenomenon going on with women in show business but the mainstream media has made it a point to drill into all of us that those underweight women are supposedly the best kind of women out there.

It’s as if Mel, and people like Mel, read an article like this and part of their minds actually interpret the story in the opposite manner as if it is a good thing that Fox is too skinny and that she needs a trainer to combat this supposed “luck” that Fox has been “blessed” with.

How sad.

“it’s as if Mel, and people like Mel, read an article like this and part of their minds actually interprets the story . . . as if it’s a good thing Fox is skinny”

It’s as if you made up the part about Mel explaining that he thought being underweight is a good thing.

Wait. No. LITERALLY all he said was that she could be telling the truth. Absolutely nothing that was said was warped or inaccurate. People who are naturally skinny ARE lucky because right now it happens to be more socially acceptable to be underweight.

Mel is right! Some people are naturally skinny. Some people hate working out. If someone happens to be lethargic and naturally skinny they will end up smaller than average. You can believe that I can’t have a small frame without being sick. You can even hate this body type enough to flip out over a comment as benign as Mel’s. But keep in mind that YOU are the one judging people for there size – not me.

This is all such BS. Any time that a girl is extremely skinny in Hollywood people throw the “she is naturally skinny” and everyone buys it hook line and sinker. Ain’t it funny also how despite her looking too skinny the media, and the extreme fanatics, flock to claim that the girl is not “too skinny” and just right. Then, if any sort of acknowledgment happens, it’s because they are “naturally skinny”. Well, which was it? Where they not too skinny and supposedly sexy or where they too skinny but just naturally that way?

This “trainer” is lying just to get positive publicity for Fox. Megan Fox has been quoted before as saying that she usually only eats one time a day:

examiner(Dot)(Com)/celebrity-fitness-and-health-in-national/megan-fox-i-eat-maybe-once-a-day

Like I said, this is all BS.

The hell with Megan Fox. Give me Christina Hendricks any day.

I actually strongly dislike Megan Fox. I think she’s incredibly untalented as an actress and completely overrated.
This is the one time I would ever dream of coming to her defense. I am a very petite person (only 5’2″) and am very slender as well. I’m also a very healthy person. It kills me when I have to dodge the “anorexia” or “she must have an eating disorder remarks.” I am completely healthy and if I could gain weight just so the comments would stop, I would. I have had people come up to me and ask me to my face if I have a “problem” with food since I’m slender. One would never think of going right up to an overweight person and asking them if they had a problem with food.
I agree that our culture is too obsessed with looks and one’s physical appearance and that absolutely needs to change. But this is something I have to face every day. Granted, I’m not facing it in the national tabloids but it still hurts.

its SO obvious that she’s sucking up her stomach in that pic. no matter how skinny you are that when you lurch over like that your organs and underlying gut tissues will lurch forward as well. that or she had half her stomach surgically removed.

I think she looks great! She looks normal… great BMI and toned. Unlike 80% of the poplulation and probably the ones negatively responding to her being too skinny. You forget what a normal person is supposed to look like because everyone is so fat these days and it’s becoming the norm.. how sad.. Now put away that ice cream sandwich and get some exercise before commenting on how sick us healthy people look…

I agree that Megan Fox didn’t seem to have a problem with being too skinny BEFORE she became famous. Being able to afford to have a trainer at their beck and call and then claiming “I have trouble gaining weight” seems to be a common Hollywood theme.

I have to agree with you Jen. Before she became famous she wasn’t “skinny” where people are wondering does she have an eating disorder? And her trainer is getting paid so of course he’ll come out and try to hush up the rumors. Smh Media is a monopoly of lies, actors are their commodies and we are the consumers.

She didn’t SEEM to have a problem when she was on “Hope & Faith” and in the first “Transformers”. This is the same thing so many actresses say once they achieved a certain level of success and their weight begins to plummet. When I first saw a still of her commercial w/o reading the link I thought it was going to be a story about anorexia and Hollywood.

jill makes a good point. But Megan used to be a very, healthy, beautiful girl. And what she’s doing is what many girls do in H-wood-they thinnify to the point where it’s a little disturbing. This girl has gotten VERY skinny. And she has effed with her face majorly in just the last couple years. At times, she looks positively creepy with all the fillers and botox, like at her jonah Hex premiere when all the media picked up on it. I think people are covering for her, and she has some real body and self image issues. It’s a hard town to live in as a young woman, and Megan seems to be immune to the messed up values instilled there in terms of what young woman should measure up to.

I’m 36, 5’1 and 110 lbs. I’m a long distance runner and eat enough for 12 ppl, yet I get told that I have an eating disorder and need to eat more. My parents were both small ppl and ate very well, so genes do play a role in our body compositions.

This story is BS, I saw an interview with Megan Fox where she said (and this is from her own mouth) that she just doesn’t eat to stay thin. I think this is a PR stunt to try to rehabilitate her image. I don’t know if it will work, the “poor skinny girl” story isn’t going to win over too many people. She has played this angle before, in an interview with a magazine she said she was teased in highschool by other girls for having such thick long eyelashes, and that they would pull on them and say that they were fake….which must have been EXTREMELY TRAUMATIZING for her (please note my saracasm). She is a self-centered actress who has only made it to where she is for her looks and has to accept the fact that she has an extremely unlikable personality. I am so over these women who try to claim that there life has been so hard because they are attractive. I know plenty of beautiful women who are gracious and humble. Ms. Fox, you are not fooling me.

i find this utter bullshit.
she once had some meat on her bones-curvy and voluptuous (go watch confessions of a teenage drama queen)so how come she’s finding it hard to put weight on now?
when i look at her body i don’t see naturally skinny. i see starved and deprived of food.

and before anyone asks..
1. i’m not overweight
2. i love my body (so what i’m saying isn’t down to jealousy)

Megan, jealous people will always be callous and assume the worst. I know there are many who have to battle thinness. You look great. The only complaint I have are the tattoo’s…..writing is for paper or an electronic device, not the human body. The tattoo’s make you look common. They distract from your natural beauty.

Boo hoo. She is just looking for ways to stay relevant and we’re giving them to her. She prob payed off her “trainer”. Why would she work out if she’s already having a hard time retaining calories? Weight training is still training and without taking in more than she’s burning she won’t “gain weight”. My Nutrition for Healthy Living course says BULL. Also where did this random piece of info come from? I doubt that the paps are after him… does she have any movies in the works?
