New Report: Did Mark Sanchez Have A Relationship With A 17-Year-Old Girl?

Posted Mon, February 7, 2011 1:23pm EDT

Another NFL quarterback may be in hot water with reports he romanced a girl inappropriately — and she has the photos of his bedroom that supposedly prove it.

Mark Sanchez is not having a good 2011. After failing to make the Super Bowl following a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the quarterback is now finding himself in an incredibly awkward position with news that he allegedly romanced a 17-year-old girl.

Deadspin — the site that broke the news of Brett Favre‘s alleged cell-phone photos sent to sideline reporter Jenn Sterger — claims it’s got the story … and the proof. “So we’ve been working on a story the last couple weeks about Mark Sanchez’s romancing of a 17-year-old girl,” reports Deadspin. “She reached out to us first and agreed to cooperate.” Now she is not so sure it seems — and has hired a lawyer!

The site is still planning to run photos on Feb. 8 that show Mark’s bedroom, taken by the girl. The photos were allegedly taken on the girl’s Blackberry after she spent the night with Mark a few weeks ago. The Jets have yet to issue a statement on the situation.

As for the letter sent to the site, Deadspin responds to the legal complaints by acknowledging that they will not reveal the identity of the girl as she is underage.

The major issue here is age of consent. In New York, where this most likely happened, it is perfectly fine for 24-year-old Mark to have sexual relations, if there were in fact any, with a 17-year-old. In California, it is not.

Mark has been somewhat of a Lothario since he became the Jets quarterback, romancing women including model Hilary Rhoda and Jamie-Lynn Sigler.

The photos will be released Feb. 8 — and there’s clearly much more to come on this story, yet another alleged instance of quarterbacks behaving badly.

Usually I would be all over stuff like this but I have to say that its not Mark Sanchez fault that some random chick lied about her age to get with him. Its not like he met the girl at a high school football game, he met her at a club which means she lied to get into the club, of course he is going to assume she is of age. Nothing will happen to him because no laws according to NJ and New York. The unfortounate part is that he has to go through the embarrassment. He is lucky the football season just ended and wont start back up for months, by then all this will be water under the bridge.

On a side note, why is this chick taking pictures of Mark Sanchezs room if she didn’t have alternative motives? This is why people should be careful of who they take home because nonsense like this happens.

Why does it say it probably happened in NY? The Jets play and train in NJ, and Sanchez LIVES (has a huge house) in NJ. If it happened in his bedroom, that would mean NJ.

If what he did was perfectly legal (no grey area in the NY state laws), presuming that there even WAS a relationship, then how can you defame him by alleging a misconduct and proclaiming that he was “behaving badly”?

Get your sh*t together. Just because you’re not a professional news outlet and you survive by re-publishing other outlets’ news tidbits doesn’t relieve you of your obligations regarding research, fact checking and false allegations.

You can’t just say anything you want and call it the truth, claiming that someone else said it first.

No more shocking than Justin Bieber hanging out with Hooters Girls…and HL flashing all the photos of it (and Bonnie calling him a “role model”!)

Oh wait…forgot…double standards are ok with HL.

Nothing new. Mark Sanchez while at the University of Southern California was almost thrown off the football team for having sex with an underage coed. Her mother attempted to have Mark indicted for rape but the girl admitted that they had been drinking and she got naked and climbed into bed with him. Somehow the USC athletic department managed to squash charges for Mark using a fake driver’s license to purchase liquor.

You forget ejrjr…HL has no fact-checkers at this sorry attempt of a journalistic endeavor.
