'Hunger Games' First Look: See Josh Hutcherson As Peeta & Elizabeth Banks As Effie!

Elizabeth looks adorable in her pink wig — but what do you think of Josh’s new blond ‘do?

New photos from the North Carolina set of The Hunger Games have hit the web, giving us our first look at Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, the golden-haired lover of Jennifer Lawrence‘s Katniss, and Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket, Peeta and Katniss’ pink-haired escort. We’re totally sold on Elizabeth, but we think Josh could stand go blonder.

Josh is going to be a great Peeta… he is a fantastic actor… before i even knew who was going to play him i thought Josh would be perfect… and so what if his hair isn’t blond enough he was chosen for a reason… if u watch some of his interviews u will see that there is something gentle about him like Peeta… and its a plus that he is HOT and can act…

Good Griefff! Give Josh a break. It shouldn’t matter if his hair isn’t the exact shade of blonde that you pictured it and the world won’t end if it’s a bit darker. It’s really quite stupid to get worked up over something as silly as his hair. If SC picked him for Peeta, then I bet he;ll do a fantastic job. You should be focusing on his acting abililty instead of his hair. Just give Josh a chance, he’s a very good actor.

I think they did a great job with Peeta :) Effie should have better clothes and Josh’s hair could be blonder but this is what they did so let’s focus on enjoying the movie!

How disappointing. They did Effie alright but the clothes don’t really suit the book. They are said to be radical and obviously artificial. This just looks like she’s from a period piece.
Also, what’s with the “like Josh’s blonde do?”, maybe I would, if it was a blonde do. It’s brown, you can see it’s brown, just admit it’s brown. I’ve also seem pictures of Prim and they’ve done ok. Not great, ok.
The only thing I think they’ve done right is Katniss, just saying.

Would it be so hard for them to dye his hair blonder? As for Effie, I like the wig but her clothes aren’t weird enough. She’s from the capitol where everyone wears super outlandish clothes. Hopefully she’s not in her full costume yet.
