Vote for who you think looked best on last nights episode and find out what they had on from head to toe!
In the complicated land of miscommunication, secrets, and cover-ups on Gossip Girl, you would think by now even the characters know that a masquerade ball is only going to lead to trouble. After so many schemes, blackmail attempts, and lies, all it took was three vindictive girls and one exquisite Carolina Herrera gown to take down Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively). In the “Witches of Bushwick,” we finally see a grand scheme pulled off, and without that one dress it would’ve never worked — although that wasn’t the only look we saw last night.
The episode opens with Serena dealing with the fact that the news of her alleged relationship with her professor went public. I was honestly surprised to see Serena covered up — I thought they would’ve chosen one of her revealing tops, just for the sake of irony, but instead she was wearing a sequins Stella McCartney, tights, and Lanvin cutout leather pumps ($1,110). I loved everything about this look — of course Serena lounges around during the day in sequins!
The next time we see her, she’s wearing the dress that led to her downfall, a beautiful blue tiered Carolina Herrera fall 2010 frock. She accessorized with a Carlos Falchi pearlized python clutch ($895), Swarovski hyacinth blue ring ($240), and a Swarovski blue bracelet ($340). While I was surprised the three girls managed to take down Serena, If both Juliet (Katie Cassidy) and Jenny (Taylor Momsen) didn’t get their hands on the same dress they would’ve never been able to turn everyone against Serena.
I hate to say it, but I’m getting so sick of Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester). Last week and even during last night’s episode, I was so happy to see them being so ‘friendly’ with each other, but for what seems to be the 50th time this season they came to a new conclusion about their relationship — and decide they can’t be together. As frustrating as their decision to not get back together is Blair’s dress for the masquerade ball. As Mrs. Archibald so eloquently put it, Blair was wearing a nightgown. I know she ran out to go to the ball on a whim, but Blair of all people, would have had a slew of sexy gowns to chose from quicker than she could have picked out a headband. After all, if Julia Stiles could find an appropriate dress to wear to prom in her closet full of angry girl clothes in 10 Things I Hate About You, Blair definitely has a closet full of couture just for moments like this one — I’m just not buying the Josie Natori glamour lace chemise. She accessorized with a Carlos Falchi python clutch ($1,195).
Earlier in the day, after one of her ‘friendly’ meetings with Chuck, we saw her in a Bensoni lace print wrap dress ($575).
I thought Serena definitely was best dressed this episode, but what did you think?
