LAURA SAYS: Step Aside, Lea Michele — Charice Should Totally Be The New Queen Bee Of 'Glee'!

After hearing Charice sing on the season premiere of Glee, I finally get why she’s being touted as the most talented girl in the world!

As impossible as it may seem, the second season of Glee is gearing up to be even more epic than the first!

For starters, I’m glad that SOMEONE finally gave Rachel (Lea Michele) a run for her money. As Filipino foreign exchange student Sunshine, Charice stole the show! Although her bathroom scene rendition of Beyonce and Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” was fab, I absolutely had chills when she sang “Listen” from Dreamgirls.

But it looks like we won’t be seeing the 18-year-old superstar on the regular (insert sad face here). In a fit of jealous rage, Rachel screwed with Sunshine‘s audition by sending her to a crack house. It’s no surprise here that the poor girl decided to transfer schools — and headed straight to rival glee club Vocal Adrenaline. Oy! But at least we know she’ll be returning for future episodes…and Rachel had better watch her back!

Glee is a testament to the fickle shifts of power in high school: one moment you’re “in” and the next you’re totally out. Although Quinn (Dianna Agron) was a social outcast as a pregnant mama-to-be last season, Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) reinstates her as head cheerleader after Santana (Naya Rivera) gets a boob job. Yep, the snarky and very masculine Cheerios coach is pissed off by Santana’s “juicy fruit” and drops her to the bottom of the cheerleading barrel.

Finn (Cory Monteith) also becomes a loser this season when he gets dropped as McKinley’s quarterback after accidentally upsetting the new SHIM coach Shannon Beiste (that’s slang for she & him — it’s hard to tell whether newcomer Dot Jones is a man or a woman!) by trying to get wheelchair bound Artie (Kevin McHale) on the team. Plus, dating Rachel isn’t doing him any favors. Although the two nauseatingly swear they’ll never break up with the other, I feel like someone needs to slap some reality into Rachel. Like Lindsay Lohan, she lives in a fantasy world where she can do no wrong! I wanted to cheer when Finn finally made her fess up to her less than pure motives for keeping Charice off the team.

What wasn’t there to love about the season premiere of Glee? We had drama, tears, an awesome song and dance number to Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind” and endless one-liners from Jane Lynch (although sadly there were no snide asides about the elves living in Matthew Morrison‘s hair this time). I’m literally waiting with bated breath to see what’s in store for next week’s Britney Spears episode!
