Think the long days on set are enough to keep these beauties in shape? Nope! Here’s how the ‘Glee’ girls have fun while burning the calories!
The Glee cast may spend 14 hours a day dancing and singing, but for Lea Michele, Jenna Ushkowitz, Jayma Mays and Heather Morris it’s the hours after rehearsal that kick their butts into shape — literally!
Lea Michele’s 15-minute total body routine: “She wanted to target her abs, legs and arms,” Michele’s Nike trainer Marie Purvis tells Us magazine. It combines lunges, jumps, single-arm rows and leg lifts. Lea adds Bikram yoga and hiking. She also maintains a strict vegan diet.
Jenna Ushkowitz’s 90-minute heated Vinyasa yoga classes: “My arms, legs, and core get more toned [and makes me feel happier],” she says. Jenna participates in the classes four times a week — and also hits the treadmill for 45-minute runs!.
Jayma Mays’ bi-weekly Reformer Pilates: Jenna takes hour-long Pilates classes twice a week, where she uses a machine called a Reformer. “It’s like having a weight session without bulking up — more lengthening and toning,” she explains. “I’m always super-sore afterward.” Jayma also likes to bike and hike.
Heather Morris’ 45-minute Piloxing: “It’s 45 minutes of Pilates, boxing and dancing, then 10 minutes of target work on the butt, thighs and abs,” says Viveca Jensen at the V Pilates Studio in Los Angeles — where Heather goes three times a week. “Since it’s choreographed with dance elements, Heather feels right at home.” The whole class burns about 900 calories!
