‘Downton Abbey’ Stars Get Glam In Vintage-Inspired ‘Vogue’ Germany Shoot

The stars ditched their lavish period costumes for a more high-fashion look for their vintage-inspired shoot — and they’re simply stunning!

If like us you can’t wait for the third season of Downton Abbey to air here in the US, than you’ll love the stunning shoot in Vogue Germany that captured the cast looking so glam. Michelle Dockery, who often wears corsets and hooped gowns as Lady Mary on the hit drama, was seen in a sheer beaded frock in a flawless black and white image — and she wasn’t the only star featured!

Aside from the 30-year-old star we saw Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle’s on-screen mother, who suited up in white silk opera-length gloves and a black dress, holding a lace hat with a coy look on her face. Sporting vampy lipstick and wearing her tresses in curls, the image we saw was a far cry from that of her character’s, Lady Cora Grantham.

The stunning shoot wasn’t just for the leading ladies, either! We also saw Rob James-Collier smouldering in a close-up shot while a black cap was perched on the top of his head.

Photog Bruce Weber captured the actors for the January 2012 edition of Vogue Germany, but you can get a sneak peek at their high-fashion makeover right here. While the shoot features more modern clothing and portrays the stars in a whole new light, I like that the shoot had a vintage vibe to it — it worked so well!

What do you think? Do you like the stars when they’re in their retro costumes, dresses and corsets or do you prefer seeing them more glam in modern clothing? Will you be watched when the third season premieres here in the US?
