Demi Lovato Is Becoming The New Lindsay Lohan — But Here's Why We Have Faith Demi Will Pull Through!

Posted Sun, November 7, 2010 10:00am EST

The weight issues, the cutting, the treatment — is Demi in danger of following the same trajectory as Lindsay or will her early admission of her problems and strong family save her from the same fate?

At the tender age of 18, Demi Lovato has already starred in three Disney films (Camp Rock, Camp Rock 2, Princess Protection Program), recorded two Billboard topping albums (Don’t Forget and Here We Go Again), played the lead in two hit shows (Barney & Friends and Sonny With A Chance), and embarked on a world tour. What’s more, almost all of this happened in a two year period, ultimately proving to be too much for the young star as she left her tour with the Jonas Brothers to seek treatment for cutting and an eating disorder on Nov. 1. It does seem however that Demi is in many ways like another former Disney starletLindsay Lohan.

Here are Demi and Lindsay’s eerie similarities:

DEMI LINDSAY
Started on TV at early age: Appeared on Barney & Friends at age 7 Appeared on Another World at age 10
Starred in 1st Disney movies as teens: Starred in Camp Rock at age 16 Starred in Freaky Friday at age 17
Released two successful albums: Don’t Forget (2008) and Here We Go Again (2009) Speak (2004) and A Little More Personal (2005)
Moms as managers: Dianna Hart de la Garza Dina Lohan
Estranged fathers: Patrick Lovato Michael Lohan
Bad public breakups: Joe Jonas Wilmer Valderrama
Their 1st breakdown: Allegedly fought with a back-up dancer at an airport Called in sick while filming Herbie: Fully Loaded
First excuse: Asthma Asthma
First entered treatment: Nov. 1, 2010 Jan. 2007

But here’s why we think that, unlike Lindsay, Demi will be able to pull through and go on to lead a successful career: She actually recognizes her problems! Nothing could be harder than coming forward and being open with such serious issues, but by doing so it seems Demi will be able to conquer her demons and go on to continue her already remarkable career.

Lindsay’s first Disney movie was Parent Trap – and she was 12.

oww camon really that’s what you think about Demi, comparing her to Lindsay is so low. Demi’s situation is a lot different, she’s so mature and now how to handle things pretty well. The issue about cutting herself and eating disorders its too harsh to always comment on.. anyway I hope that she will be fine and recover as soon as possible, can’t wait for her third album and SWAC 3rd season. Demi you’re such a great inspiration to us all, wish you the best of luck :)
you have all your fans behind you

Enough of the sympathy for Lindsay already. She worked the justice system and never intended to get help wtih anything. She wants to avoid the jail time she deserves and should have gotten a long time ago. Remember at her last hearing Lindsay didn’t want her rehab extended, she wanted it cut to the 30 days she had already spent there. She didn’t go to help herself, she went to impress the judge. Now she says she can’t afford the treatment but she can go shopping and spend $200 on “lounge wear?” If she’s so broke, why isn’t she saving that money to pay for her treatment. Her own company has said her business is being run just fine, including having input from Lindsay, from her rehab stay, so the fashion line falling apart without her? – another lie. Before anyone starts buying into how “well” Lindsay looks and is supposedly doing remember that the best con artist in the world is a substance abuser.

Demi if you are reading this here is my advice to you. After you get out of your treatment center continue seeing a therapist. And to hell with what Tom Cruise says about em. See a therapist and continue talking to people. It’s good to talk about your issues and admit that you have a problem and you’re trying to work out your issues. After which don’t go back into the business just yet. I read somewhere that you shouldn’t head back into the business right after you get out or rehab You’re just gonna drive your self crazy. Take some time for your self. Chill out, rexlax, be a teenager. I mean christ you’re 18 years old, you’re gonna drive yourself to the grave by the time you’re 22 if you aren’t careful.

Take some classes at college. Take a few courses to get your mind off all this. You seem like a smart person and you seem down to earth. This little incident aside, you seem to have a pretty good head on your shoulders. Afterwards once you’ve got your groove back…go back to “The bizz”. You’d be a smarter person and you would know what to do and what not to do.

And don’t listen to the haters. Listen to your friends and yourself. If you feel that you need a break, take a break. I certainly don’t wanna see you dead at a young age. Anyways that’s all I gotta say. Peace out.

one is a alcoholic and drug addict and the other has weight and cutting issues…there is a BIG difference. Demi addmitted herself to rehab…not court ordered as Lindsay has been many times now. I don’t think ANYONE would want to be in the same class as Lindsay…poor dear…she can’t seem to get it through her head that she is not above others and has to REALLY be responsible for her addictions….not soliciting for payment for her rehab or working on her clothing line. Addiction is not an easy thing to deal with, it takes FULL committment, ALL her energy should be learning to live clean and sober…not peddling her wares for cash.

Why do people act like Lindsay never tried getting help for herself? She first checked into rehab HERSELF back in January 2007. And this was all before the DUIs and the court ordered mess shes now in. She TRIED to get help, its just hard for someone so young to be an addict.

No one is bashing her but…it took her a while to figure out she had a problem. Hell even during her first stint in rehab in 2007, she didn’t even acknowledge it. She’s been in and out more times than anyone else. And she was already in her 20′s.

I agree Demi is at least acknowledging that she has a problem with her emotions or…whatever issue she is going through and she is seeking medical help from it. I think she needs to take some time for her self.

The difference is, Lindsay was in a movie at 11, Demi wasn’t. Lindsay is, or at least was, or still is, a Fashion Icon, Demi just wears too much black and plaid. Demi is cute, Lindsay is stunning. Also, Lindsay’s drug problems and other issues are from not having a father figure. Demi’s issues are very common for someone her age.

Roughly between Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus (c. 2003-04), there was Lindsay Lohan along with her rival Hilary Duff. They were the teen stars during that time, also they were caught in a catfight with Duff because of Aaron Carter (he was kinda like the Justin Bieber of his time). Mean Girls was the big deal back then, millions of boys fell in love with her and become obsessed with her, some lucky people had a chance to meet her and even make love with her. Now she looks like 35-40 year old unemployed woman. She become a wild child after her 18th birthday back in ’04. Britney Spears was 22 at that time and she was planning to get knocked up by K-Fed, while Miley Cyrus was 12 at that time and she was filming Hannah Montana. Lucky that Amanda Bynes wasn’t a Disney girl, Nickolodeon produced her, and now she is retired from showbiz.

Almost all teenagers (95% of them are girls) go through that situation, they struggle, and they experience sex, drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, etc. We all used to be teenagers, no matter what era you live in. You’re not really a serious adult yet when you’re 18 years old. People settle down when they hit their late 20′s.

I wasn’t a teenager of the Britney generation nor the Miley generation, I was more like a teenager of the Lindsay Lohan/Hilary Duff generation. I was born in 86, only months before Lindsay was born. But Amanda Bynes is still my admirer.

Easy A came out more than a couple weeks ago – I don’t think she quit acting all together – by retiring she just slowed down – isn’t doing as many movies/ tv shows.
