Posted Tue, March 1, 2011 4:03pm EDT

Find out how to get celebrity hair color, straight from the star colorist responsible for Oscar’s best hair hues!

The Feb. 27 Oscars gave us so many ideas for updos and romantic waves… but they also inspired us to mix up our color! Read on– we have the scoop on how to get star hair color from any salon!

Redken Creative Consultant for Color Tracey Cunningham used Redken color to get Michelle Williams, Jessica Biel and Marisa Tomei ready for Sunday’s red carpet. Looking to get hair color like Michelle‘s cool baby blonde, Jessica‘s sexy warm brunette, or Marisa‘s elegant deep chestnut? Just write these exact formulas down, run to your salon, and hand them to your favorite colorist! (It’s okay if you don’t know what they mean– they will!)

  • Michelle Williams: Apply allover highlights with Redken Up to 7 De-Dusted Lightener (with a volume 30 developer). Finish with Shades EQ 000 Crystal Clear mixed with 09V Platinum Ice.
  • Jessica Biel: Apply equal parts of Shades EQ 09NB Irish Crème + 09AA Papaya (with a volume 30 developer). Highlight with Redken Blonde Icing Conditioning Crème Lightener.  Finish with Shades EQ 000 Crystal Clear.
  • Marisa Tomei: Apply equal amounts of Shades EQ 03A Terra Cotta mixed with 04WG Sun Tea (with Shades EQ Processing Solution).

Which of these colors would YOU most want to try? Let us know in the poll below!

In the formula for Jessica’s hair, as far as im aware, Shades EQ is only to be mixed with Shades Processing Solution, not 30 volume developer. That formula, mixed correctly & applied to hair pre-lightened to yellow will create a gorgeous caramel color.
