Bret Michaels' New Series 'Life As I Know It' Tries To Show How Bret Has Grown, But He Still Puts Work Before Family!

Bret hit the road for another tour, leaving his youngest daughter in tears, on the Oct. 18 series premiere!

We all remember when Bret Michaels famously suffered a brain hemorrhage earlier this year — and now his new VH1 reality show, Life As I Know It, is following his recovery process, along with his personal mission to become a better husband and father. On the Oct. 18 premiere episode, Bret admitted that his health scare totally changed his priorities… but his actions throughout the episode suggested otherwise.

“It showed me what’s important and that’s to be the best family man and dad I could be,” Bret told the cameras.

But while Bret undoubtedly dotes on daughters Raine, 10 and Jorja 5, the first episode also showed that he wants to get back on tour as soon as possible. Against doctors’ recommendations he left his worried family, with the littlest Michaels in tears, to play a show in Mississippi. Kristi, Bret’s on-and-off girlfriend and the mother of his children, should have put her foot down, but it’s clear that Bret is in control of the relationship. Kristi tells her worried daughters, “Whatever he wants to do, we got to agree with him.”

While Bret tried to justify his eagerness to perform again as “therapy” and to “prove he’s still there” I couldn’t help but notice the selfish pattern of Brett’s restlessness as he ditched the things that should truly matter to him in favor of the rock star lifestyle.

Bret, why would you leave your beautiful girls at home and risk your health just to play a random concert in Mississippi? What if you hemorrhaged again on stage? What if you strained your heart while it’s still recovering? If you truly want to be a wonderful family man and dad, you have got to stop putting your music first. Hopefully as the series progresses, we’ll actually see you take your own advice and change your priorities!

Did you watch the premiere of Life As I Know It? Do you think Bret is a changed family man?

AND this show has him spending more time WITH his family than he would if it was another “dating” show OR a show about his music only AND probably even more time with them than if he had been cast on American Idol….. so the whole premise of your article is bunk.

You should bash the parents who DON’T spend but every other weekend with their kids….how about all of them?

Like Tony Randall said –I might not be able to be with my kids forever – but at least they know that I love them.

Uhhhhh — somebody in the family needs to work.

Just because Bret’s JOB is his music, it isn’t any different for him to go back to work AS it is for my Dad to go back to work…..

It’s amazing how judgmental people are….unless YOU want to support Bret and his family financially- you probably shouldn’t state that he has his priorities wrong.

BTW, ALL 5 year olds cry when their parents leave…

To put it bluntly, Bret could have died on his couch just as well as on a stage in Biloxi.
