These celebrity moms and dads agree that a big household is a happy household. It’s the more for the merrier for couples like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana, and Seal and Heidi Klum.
While family size may be shrinking for most Americans, in celebrity land, where the extra cost of another child isn’t the pressing issue that it is for regular folk, creating a big family (through adoption, surrogates or natural childbirth) is currently on trend. Check out these big, happy families.
Did Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie bring the big family back into fashion with their brood of six? Sure we see pictures of the Jolie-Pitts all the time, but they’re by no means the only celebrity couple raising a big family today.
Actor Chris O’Donnell was just voted America’s Hottest Husband by Redbook magazine readers. It might have a little something to do with the gorgeous family of five he has with his wife of 13 years, Carolina Fentress.
Chris told the mag that when it came between choosing the big flashy Hollywood career and Lily Anne, 10, Christopher “Chip” Eugene, 9, Charles McHugh, 6, Finley, 4, and Maeve Frances, 2, there wasn’t a whole lot of thinking to do.
“I knew when I got into this business I couldn’t have it both ways: I could live the playboy lifestyle, which is not a bad thing to do, or have a traditional family life, which is how I grew up. That was more important to me… When I’m sitting in the backyard at the end of the day with a glass of wine, watching the kids having fun and clowning around, for me, that’s what it’s all about,” Chris said.
Actor and producer Mark Wahlberg should also be vying for the title of Hottest Hubby. He and wife Rhea are raising four kids (since Mark is one of nine children that doesn’t come as a huge surprise) and the couple’s baby-making days may not be over just yet.
“My wife has always wanted four, two boys and two girls, so miraculously she got everything she wanted. She’s saying she’s done. She loves being a mother, so she may end up wanting one more. We’ll see what happens,” Mark says.
Heidi Klum is a supermodel and a super mom. With all of her producing credits she is probably busier than most moms in Hollywood, yet Heidi and hubby Seal make raising four kids under the age of 7 look easy (and strikingly beautiful). The parents of Leni, 6, (Heidi’s daughter from a previous relationship, whom Seal adopted), Henry, 4, Johan, 3, and Lou, 9 months make parenthood seem like the coolest job in the world.
But Matt Damon knows that adding his fourth child (any day now!) to his family with wife Luciana isn’t going to be all smooth sailing.
“We’re bracing ourselves for our next little tornado. We’re excited. But it is a lot of work,” Matt confesses. He and Lucy are expecting another little girl to join 11 year-old Alexia, Isabella, 3, and Gia, 2.
“I call it the ‘testosterone deficit.’ But I’m happy with that. I love my girls and it’s lot of pink, a lot of princesses and a lot of fun,” he says.
Maybe Brooke Burke can give the Damons some parenting advice. The television host and mom of four with hubby David Charvet is writing a parenting book called The Naked Mom, where she will discuss the difficulties of balancing her career while raising, Neriah, 10, Sierra, 8, Rain, 3, and Shaya, 2.
What do you think? If you had all the money and resources of these celebrities would you keep expanding your family too?
