The Hollywood beauties are at the top of the shortlist to play Bruce Wayne’s squeeze in the upcoming film — or the villain!
Casting for the newest Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, is slowly reaching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo like fever pitch over casting of the female lead. With auditions taking place over the next few weeks, The Hollywood Reporter has gotten their hands on the short list of actresses up for the role — and it is quite a collection of amazing talent!
“Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel are due to test for roles in the Warner Bros. superhero tentpole in the next two weeks. Also testing are relative newcomers Kate Mara and Charlotte Riley. Hot British actress Gemma Arterton has also scheduled to test,” the industry rag reports.
The film has two female roles among to fill — a love interest and a villain. The love interest is believed to be the Vicki Vale character, played by Kim Bassinger in Tim Burton‘s Batman, and one possible name that has been mention as is Naomi Watts.
The villain role is Talia Al Guhl, daughter of Ra Al Guhl (who Liam Neeson played in Batman Begins), Batman’s love interest AND antagonist. Talia is the woman who ultimately gives birth to Bruce Wayne’s son and seems to be a pretty amazing female role.
While a choice is still a bit away, we can’t help but think how amazing it would be if Kate won the role and the Mara sisters became the female stars of some pretty major movie franchises!
