With her female-driven, punk-influence pop music, she slowly took over the music mainstream with hits like her breakout “Complicated,” her rhyming earworm “Sk8er Boi,” her power-ballad “I’m With You,” and her grunge-twinged “Losing Grip.” Her debut went platinum seven times in the US, and was certified diamond in her native country of Canada. Her follow-up, 2004’s ‘Under My Skin,’ sold well (going platinum 5-times in Canada, three-times in the USA) but the shifting music landscape saw diminishing returns in the following years. However, she remained incredibly popular. Her single “Girlfriend,” off of 2007’s ‘The Best Damn Thing,’ was her first song to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
