Yes, Jimmy Fallon, you did a stellar job BUT the real star of the 2010 Emmy Awards last night, Aug. 29 — WOMAN POWER!
Since when are bitches celebrated? Usually women get bonked on the head and backstabbed when they are strong, pushy broads! Instead at last nights Emmys from Claire Danes landing the Best Actress award for her empowering performance as brilliant autistic professor Temple Grandin, to Jane Lynch drenching Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon leading off the show’s Glee opening number, — the Emmys were all about empowered ballsy women!
Think about how major this is — women won awards for being toughies on screen and we LIKED them for it — now, that’s a first!
Jane Lynch as ambitious scheming coach Sue Sylvester, Claire Danes as undeterrable slaughterhouse designer Temple Grandin, Edie Falco as tough druggie Nurse Jackie, Kyra Sedgwick as loud pain- in- the ass deputy chief Brenda Leigh Johnson in The Closer, Archie Panjabi as street smart investigator Kalinda Sharma in The Good Wife all raked in the top awards!
And Hollywood’s women didn’t just show their strength on-screen; they pulled off a multitude of ballsy moves on the red carpet.
Anna Paquin, fashion ballsy wearing a bold Cleopatra-esque Alexander McQueen head-turner; Heidi Klum, mom of four in a daringly thigh-high strapless mini; Mad Men‘s January Jones risking good taste in a brilliant Versace cancan skirt; Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks unafraid to display her ample assets in a plunging lavender Zac Posen; and Sofia Vergara eye-popping in a bold, gold, figure-flaunting Carolina Herrera.
It was red carpet ballsy va-va-voom all the way, with even Tina Fey curving it up after her laughable Mary Poppins fashion disaster at the Golden Globes last January.
Now, feast your eyes on all this ballsy beauty that blew the men almost out of the room and off the TV screen. Agree?
