Post-love scene hair was a total trend on the red carpet!
Didn’t you just LOVE the Emmys red carpet arrivals last night? Even though it was awash in a stark palette of gowns (black, white, midnight blue, black and white, little color), the beauty looks were wide and varied. The biggest beauty trend of note? Bed head! Did you catch that? It looked like most of Hollywood rolled into hair and makeup after one big love scene. Here are some of the ways the style came to life on the carpet:
Tousled waves: Lea Michele knocked it out of the park last night with touchable, sexy waves and it set the bar high for the rest of the carpet. Usually, ‘undone’ styles can be a bit of a risk because it can read as too messy on camera but the beauty industry’s best got it right most of the time last night. Other stars rocking the look include Sofia Vergara and True Blood cast member Rutina Wesley.
Textured Updos: The classic ladylike updo got a touch of young Hollywood edge last night with a healthy measure of texture thrown in. This isn’t your mother’s prom stiff chignon – we’re talking finger-tousled hair gathered up in a hurry. Still incredibly ladylike but with a twist. Diana Agron, Kim Kardashian and Eva Longoria Parker all made this work.
Spiral-Waved Bobs: The classic cut got a modern twist with spiral curls seemingly knocked loose for a soft, sexy look. This is where Mad Men cast member Christina Hendricks and Kelly Osbourne (her personal best look ever, in my opinion) looked absolutely amazing.
Messy Midlength: You know how your hair reaches that length where it’s not really long but it’s not really short? Sometimes that can be annoying and not look so great but stars like Claire Danes kicked that notion to the curb with sultry waves that looked absolutely amazing. Who didn’t exactly pull this off? January Jones. Look, I’m all for a textured uneven long bob but when it looks like you’ve combed your hair with your foot, it might be time for you and your stylist to reevaluate.
Sideswept Ponytails: The ultimate in get-hot-in-a-hurry hair, we had plenty of ladies rocking this trend from more polished curls like Jenna Ushkowitz to the gorgeous island-ready glamour of Keri Russell (again, another personal best beauty moment, in my opinion.)
What did you think of the hair from the red carpet? Did you like Emmy’s sexy bedhead trend or did it put you to sleep?
