Bio:
William Hung (born January 13, 1983 in Sha Tin, Hong Kong) is a Hong Kong-born American singer. He found fame in early 2004 from his off-key audition of Ricky Martin’s hit song “She Bangs” on the third season of the television series American Idol. After the audition, his quirky performance and charming personality won the support of many fans, which led him to pursue a music career. However, his fame became very controversial as he, as well as his fans, were accused of promoting racial stereotypes against Asians. He ended his music career in 2011 and he now works as a technical crime analyst for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

William is originally from Sha Tin, Hong Kong, but he moved to Camden, New Jersey in 1993. He attended the John H. Francis Polytechnic High School in Los Angeles and he was also a student at University of California, Berkeley but later dropped out to pursue a career as a musician. William married Jian Teng on June 18, 2014 in Alhambra, California.
