Saint Nicholas (born in Patara, Turkey, on March. 15, 270) was a Greek Bishop who was known for giving gifts to those in need. He is who inspired the modern day Santa Claus, who is known for riding in a sleigh, full of presents, pulled by reindeer. Saint Nicholas’ remains are in Bari, Italy. He was known as the patron saint of sailor, thieves, and children.

Saint Nicholas was best known for being an incredibly generous bishop, who was known to leave coins in the shoes of those who left them out for him.
Personal Life:
Saint Nicholas’ remains are split between Myra and Bari. In 1087, a group of sailors from Bari stole part of his remains from Myra and took them back to Bari.
