Michael Schumacher (born on January 3, 1969 in Hürth, West Germany) is a German retired racing driver, who has won the Formula One World Championship seven times. He began his career as a teenager in karting, and made his first move into single-seat car racing in 1988. Michael has been widely regarded as one of the best Formula One racers of all time, winning the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year twice and receiving nominations four other times. Despite once announcing his retirement, he competed in the Formula One World Championship until 2012. However, his career ended after a skiing accident in 2013, when he hit his head on a rock and was put into a medically induced coma due to a traumatic brain injury. He was released from the hospital/rehab in September 2014, but remains paralyzed and in a wheelchair, unable to speak and with memory problems.
