Joe Garagiola (born Joseph Henry Garagiola, Sr. on February 12, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri), was a legendary baseball broadcaster and baseball player, who played in the major leagues from 1946 to 1954. During his tenure as a catcher in the MLB, he played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, and New York Giants. Joe hit 42 career home runs with 255 RBIs and had a .257 batting average. After leaving the MLB, Joe joined NBC as a sports broadcaster in 1961, leaving in 1988 after nearly 30 years at the position. Joe then became the commentator for the California Angels and Arizona Diamondbacks, ultimately retired from broadcasting in 2013, at the incredible age of 87 years-old. He won the Ford Frick Award for “major contributions to baseball,” awarded by the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991

Personal Life:
Joe married Audrie Rose in 1949. Together, they had three children: Joe Garagiola, Jr., Steve Garagiola, and Gina Garagiola. He was childhood friends with Yogi Berra, and joined the majors at the same time as the baseball great. Joe died at the age of 90 on March 23, 2016.
